Chapter 153 Xie Hengzhi X Yun Qing (06)
Yun Qing's technique was excellent, gentle yet firm, and Xie Hengzhi experienced a long-lost sense of relaxation.
He felt himself being gently placed back on the pillow, the small lamp was turned off, and the room became completely dark. A moment later, a soft head snuggled into his arms.
"What are you doing?" Xie Hengzhi lowered his eyes, his lips touching his soft hair, just like a puppy.
"Sleep in my arms." Yun Qing wrapped her arms around his waist, then looked up and said from a distance, "Give me a kiss."
Xie Hengzhi emphasized again: "Yunqing, we are not dating."
"I know, just give me a kiss." Yun Qing selectively ignored him, slightly raising her head, and urged him again, "Hurry up, you'll lose your sleepiness soon."
Xie Hengzhi didn't intend to dwell on the issue. He lowered his head slightly and lightly touched his lips.
Satisfied with the kiss, Yun Qing shifted to a more comfortable position and buried her face in his chest: "From now on, you must have a goodnight kiss every day. Don't forget."
Xie Hengzhi held him, slowly closed his eyes, and thought to himself, with such a clingy child, he didn't think Yun Qing's separation anxiety would be resolved in two years.
Whether it was the soothing effect of Yun Qing's sleep or the person in her arms, she managed to get a good night's sleep, something she hadn't done in a long time.
Because of a last-minute mission, Pei Yizhong brought Lin Han to visit more than half a month later.
Having been watching the drama unfold too late, he finally seized the opportunity and, under the pretext of needing a cigarette, hastily dragged Xie Hengzhi to the balcony, getting straight to the point: "Are you two dating?"
"No." Xie Hengzhi said, a cigarette dangling from his lips. In his mind was the image of Yun Qing grabbing him after he had just finished brushing his teeth that morning, insisting on a good morning kiss. From an outsider's perspective, it was probably no different from being in a relationship.
"Then, what's going on?" Pei Yizhong turned around and looked at Yun Qing, who was busy cooking in the kitchen, like a married couple. "Does he know that your family wants you to marry into the Jiang family?"
Xie Hengzhi made no attempt to hide it: "I knew there was going to be a marriage alliance, but I didn't know the details."
Hearing this, Pei Yizhong reached out and grabbed his collar, warning him: "You can't raise him as a concubine. His background is already miserable enough, and you still want to ruin him."
“I didn’t fucking want to ruin him. I’ve refused him more than once, but he insisted.” Xie Hengzhi’s brows were furrowed. “Do you think I don’t know I can’t give him a future? I’m more clear-headed than you.”
Upon hearing this, even Pei Yizhong, who was usually oblivious to emotions, realized that Yun Qing was deeply in love.
He loosened his grip on his collar, put himself in his shoes, and felt a bit irritated: "What should we do? If you bring Yun Qing home, your dad will break your legs."
"If it's that simple, then it's easy to handle. It'll only take a hundred days to recover from a serious injury." Xie Hengzhi looked into the distance, feeling that this problem was simply unsolvable. "I knew long ago that we couldn't bring it back, and Yun Qing knew it too."
Knowing the outcome, yet still so resolute, Pei Yizhong simply couldn't understand: "Then why are you still living together?"
Xie Hengzhi turned his head to look at the little chef who was happily busy in the kitchen, and said helplessly, "He said he'll be happy for as many days as he wants."
Pei Yizhong cursed under his breath, then sighed and said, "Dude, you're tempted too, aren't you? This kind of indulgence isn't like you."
Xie Hengzhi commented, "Your emotional intelligence has indeed improved by leaps and bounds with Lin Han's help."
What does it matter if one's heart is moved? The emotions of a chess piece will only become a sharp sword that hurts each other in the end. He has already begun to not know how to face that day.
During the meal, it was clear that Yun Qing was particularly happy today. She was holding a glass of red wine and swirling it around, boasting, "Isn't it delicious? These are all my specialties. You two are really enjoying yourselves today."
"Super impressive." Lin Han praised him, giving him face. "I only know how to make scrambled eggs with tomatoes."
Yun Qing raised an eyebrow slightly, nudged the person next to her with her knee, and teased, "He's just as bad as our young master Xie. He can only make omelet rice all year round, and he can't do anything else."
Pei Yizhong buried his head in serving her food, reassuring her, "It's okay, I can cook. As long as one person in the family can cook, that's enough."
These words were simply not something he would say. Yun Qing turned to look at Xie Hengzhi and silently mouthed, "Damn, this guy is making rapid progress."
"Oh right, I brought some housewarming gifts." Lin Han took out a gift box from her pocket and handed it over. "I don't think I need anything, so I picked out a set of silk pajamas. Yun Qing, you like wearing dresses, so I took the liberty of buying a camisole style. I don't know if you like it."
Yun Qing reached out and took it, opened it generously, and looked at the neatly arranged couple outfits inside, praising, "They're so beautiful, they look like a wedding gift."
Xie Hengzhi turned to look at him, his gaze heavy. They both knew this was impossible.
"Just kidding." Yun Qing smiled, her eyes crinkling, and swayed the halter top. "I'll wear it for you tonight."
There were other people around, and Xie Hengzhi couldn't help but remind them, "Be more discreet when you talk."
The two people watching the show across from them were laughing uncontrollably. Pei Yizhong sincerely said, "Thank you for being relatively naive a few years ago, otherwise who knows how much PDA I would have had to endure at school."
"Don't worry, someone like Xie Hengzhi, you'll never see him showing off his love in your entire life." Yun Qing slowly drank a glass of wine, the initial taste sweet, the aftertaste a little bitter.
That's what they said, but in reality, Xie Hengzhi didn't like himself that much.
Or rather, in his system of evaluating interests, emotions are the least important factor, something that can be easily discarded and the first option for cutting losses in time.
Thinking of this, Yun Qing's good mood dissipated a bit, and she drank a little too much. Even Pei Yizhong could tell that she was trying to drown her sorrows in alcohol.
After finishing the meal and clearing the table, I stood up with Lin Han and explained, "Her house has a curfew, so I have to take her home early. Hengzhi, you... take good care of Yunqing."
Xie Hengzhi hummed in agreement, signaling him to go first. He then reached out and steadyed the crooked Yun Qing, and only after the door closed did he pull her onto his lap and hug her.
"Why drink so much?" he asked in a low voice.
Yun Qing pursed her lips, rested her chin on his shoulder, and murmured to herself, "I really envy Lin Han. Only daughters of noble families have such restrictions on their household, so no one cares about me. Tell me, if I were a proper child from the Yun family, could I be with you?"
Xie Hengzhi swallowed hard, but he could hardly deny that it was the truth.
But not wanting to say too many hurtful things, she simply got up, picked him up, and carried him to the bathroom: "Go take a shower, and go to bed early afterward."
"Why don't you answer me directly?" Yun Qing raised her head, cupped his face in her hands, and said with a melancholy tone, "Xie Hengzhi, am I being too demanding?"
Afraid that he would fall, Xie Hengzhi quickly took two steps, placed him on the sink to keep him steady, and then looked down at him, saying in a low voice, "Yes, but there's nothing wrong with that."
Yun Qing's voice was very soft: "Isn't that right? I think I'm so greedy. When I can't see you, I try to find ways to be together day and night. These past two weeks since I moved in have made me feel so happy that I'm about to faint. I want it to be like this forever."
"Right now, I'm even thinking about whether I should compete with my sister for the inheritance of the Yun family, so that maybe there's even a one in ten thousand chance of being with you."
He lowered his eyelashes, hiding the disappointment in his eyes: "I'm such a bad person."
"You can only do things for yourself, not for me. It's not worth it."
Xie Hengzhi stripped him naked, put him under the shower, and threatened him, "If you say something like that again, I'm moving back to school."
Yun Qing hummed in agreement, looked up, and felt her face was wet, unable to tell whether it was water from the showerhead or tears.
He knew perfectly well that Xie Hengzhi was an extremely rational person, yet he still harbored a sliver of delusion. How foolish.
Xie Hengzhi lowered his eyes and saw his red eyes. His voice softened: "You cried? Did you think I was too direct?"
Yun Qing looked at him stubbornly and muttered, "No, there's a piece of nail polish missing. I'm going to remove it and repaint it."
It was just an excuse, Xie Hengzhi knew it perfectly well, but he didn't expose it.
Yun Qing sniffed and then ordered, "Bring me my new pajamas, I want to wear them."
Xie Hengzhi did as he was told, took the dress and cut off the tag. He looked at him wearing the new nightgown, his neck slender, his limbs long, and the wine-red dress made his skin look very white. He was indeed very beautiful.
"You go wash up, I'm going to paint my nails." The pretty clothes didn't bring her a good mood, and Yun Qing grumbled as she slid off the bathroom counter.
Even though he was drunk and walking a bit unsteadily, he insisted on squatting next to the coffee table, cleaning his fingers with nail polish remover, and then opening a new bottle. As a result, his hands were shaking and he made a mess everywhere. He looked both annoyed and aggrieved.
"You're really good at making a fuss." Xie Hengzhi went over, grabbed him, and put him on the sofa in a sitting position. "Sit properly."
Then she knelt down on one knee beside him, took the bottle of red nail polish, held his hand firmly, and slowly applied it.
"is that so?"
"Okay, press down the edges, then fill it in."
Yun Qing spread her ten fingers, lowered her eyes slightly, and watched Xie Hengzhi's movements. He seemed to be able to do everything with ease, but at this moment, his large hand holding the small nail brush seemed a little clumsy and hesitant.
"Xie Hengzhi, you look so stupid."
"It's much better now." Xie Hengzhi focused on the details of the work, quickly mastering everything he did and becoming increasingly proficient. "Don't move."
Yun Qing's gaze fell on the spot where he was kneeling on one knee, and she felt that this moment really resembled a marriage proposal.
He had rarely received anything, but by chance he bumped into Xie Hengzhi and received care he had never received before. Therefore, once he had it, it was hard for him to let go.
"Xie Hengzhi, can you give me three years? Wait for me."
Xie Hengzhi had just finished painting his ring finger, and he pinched his fingers on his slender knuckles as if measuring a ring size: "What are you waiting for me for?"
Yun Qing's freshly painted nails were a vibrant red. He gently brushed his hand against Xie Hengzhi's, his touch slow and deliberate.
"I'll marry you after I take the Yun family's assets as my dowry."
