Chapter 91 was such a pleasant surprise!
Xie Xingchen led Xie Dai to his room downstairs to sleep. As soon as they got upstairs, he stood at the door, afraid that Xie Dai might fall.
Upon hearing this, he turned around and asked, "What?"
"Help me take a bath." Lin Yao's voice came through the door, cool and aloof, with a rather commanding tone.
Although he usually speaks like that, he would never say such lines; he would only coldly refuse: "I'm taking a shower, get out."
Xie Xingchen, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, fell into deep thought.
I really want to give him some every day.
This is so proactive! Confessing his feelings and taking a shower together—no beating around the bush at all. Who could resist that?
"Xie Xingchen," Lin Yao called his name, his tone displeased, "Come in."
"You're here." Xie Xing pressed the doorknob and went in, her gaze falling on him and slowly sweeping over him.
Her fair skin had a faint blush on it.
It's not like I've never seen it before. The first time I encountered a second differentiation at the beginning of the semester, it was like this. But back then, Lin Yao was prickly and his face was full of resistance.
Instead of now, Lin Yao reached out and handed him a bath sponge: "Wash."
Xie Xingchen took it and asked inquisitively, "Why did you suddenly want my help? Aren't you ashamed now?"
"Godfather said I should make more of a fuss over you." Lin Yao stood motionless under the showerhead, urging, "You're so disobedient."
Xie Xingchen couldn't stop laughing.
If the father-in-law knew the result of going in the opposite direction, he would be furious.
This is something to be taken to the grave.
He took off his coat, rolled up his sleeves, walked over, and reached out to brush his damp hair behind his head: "Are you testing my limits?"
“You promised your godfather, so you’re not going to do it,” Lin Yao said matter-of-factly.
Xie Xingchen's gaze slowly swept over him inch by inch, his tone extremely harsh: "I won't do it, but I can still take advantage of you."
Lin Yao thought for a moment: "You want to kiss me?"
He's so naive; his mind only goes that far when it comes to taking advantage of others. We're afraid he'll be led astray.
Xie Xingchen applied the shower gel, his mind wandering.
Feeling a little itchy, Lin Yao shifted to the side, saying unhappily, "You should wash properly."
"If I do well, shouldn't I be rewarded? We have a clear system of rewards and punishments." Xie Xingchen raised his hand to cover his eyes and rinsed the foam off his hair.
What reward do you want?
Xie Xingchen hadn't originally intended to do anything, just teased him, but the more naive Lin Yao was, the more he wanted to go further, to see just how far Lin Yao's bottom line would drop for him.
"Do what you dream about," Xie Xingchen said slowly. "I don't know the details, so the control is yours."
Lin Yao tried to open his eyes, but because the water was flowing down from the top of his head, his eyelids were covered by warm palms, and he couldn't see anything.
Because of this, the blurry images in my mind became exceptionally clear. It was also on that sofa, only the roles were reversed, and Xie Xingchen was the one lying there.
"Half an hour is too long," Lin Yao frowned. "Ten minutes is too long, it'll be tiring."
Just that simple sentence is enough to set off a fire.
Xie Xingchen gritted his teeth, wrapped the person whole in a bath towel, and pushed them out, suppressing his restlessness as he finished drying their hair. His phone kept vibrating beside him. He glanced at the caller ID and finally spoke, "Go lie down first, I'll return a call."
Lin Yao was drowsy from the way he was blow-drying his hair like he was petting a cat, and yawned: "Okay."
She walked straight to Xie Xingchen's bed, acting as if she were at home, and lay down straight after pulling back the covers.
Xie Xingchen glanced at him for a moment, and after making sure he was lying down properly, she turned off the room lights before taking her phone to the second-floor terrace to call back.
"Finally, you've decided to answer the phone." Jiang Qiran's voice came through. "My dad gave me a death order today. They're planning to announce the marriage on your birthday."
Xie Xingchen rubbed his temples: "What are you thinking?"
"I don't care, it's you I'm the main concern." Jiang Qiran said calmly, with a "what's the use" attitude. "Is it just a tool for political and business marriages? It doesn't matter who I marry."
"You'd better not care." Xie Xingchen turned his head, looked at the person lying flat in the bedroom through the glass window, and said in a low voice, "I can't make it. I have other plans for that day."
There was the sound of a lighter sliding on the other end. Jiang Qiran slowly exhaled a puff of smoke: "The second young master of the Xie family ran away from his wedding for love. How touching. Sometimes I'm quite envious of Lin Yao. You actually went against your family like this for him. I can't even imagine your dad's expression that day."
"He chose my birthday to upset me, without even considering my feelings," Xie Xingchen scoffed.
“I think you’d better have another plan.” Jiang Qiran’s tone became more serious. “That old man is so shrewd, how could he not guess what you’re planning? He’d have to tie you up and drag you there.”
When the crucial point was raised, Xie Xingchen fell silent.
That's why he told Lin Yao earlier that he would wait until after his birthday to sort everything out, so that Lin Yao could openly and honestly become his boyfriend, instead of...
Instead of having a nominal fiancé who would cause him unnecessary anxiety.
Xie Xingchen raised his head slightly and looked at the moon in the sky: "Why can't the alliance members get married when they come of age? Otherwise, I could drag Lin Yao to get married today."
Jiang Qiran laughed and said, "Go ahead and get married. If someone wants to marry you, then get married. To be honest, it's a good thing I don't like you, otherwise, what you said would be too hurtful, saying it to my face."
"Sorry," Xie Xingchen said without a trace of remorse. "You're of a certain age. How about I help you out and you find someone to marry first?"
An eerie silence followed on the other end of the phone.
After a long while, Jiang Qiran finally spoke, speechless: "Are you speaking human language?"
He had initially thought that Xie Xingchen was involved with his older brother, but after several months, there had been no news from either of them, and Xie Xingchen began to doubt whether he had been mistaken.
He said quite seriously, "To be honest, I'll help you go on blind dates these next few days. We can have a whirlwind marriage, and you'll be free, and I'll be free too. Wouldn't that be great?"
Jiang Qiran was so angry that he hung up the phone immediately.
Xie Xingchen put away his phone and went to the next room to take a shower. When he came back, because the lights were off and he wasn't sure if Lin Yao was asleep, he walked very slowly and quietly.
As soon as I lay down in bed and pulled back the covers, I felt a hand reach out and lift my pajamas.
Lin Yao was already half asleep, but his mind was still full of the reward. He whispered, "Ten minutes, no more than that."
As she spoke, she lifted the blanket.
Feeling the warm touch fall on him, Xie Xingchen grabbed him by the back of the neck, wishing he could call him "ancestor".
After a while, she said helplessly, "Why are you so troublesome?"
"So sleepy," Lin Yao muttered to himself. "Xie Xingchen, I'm sleepy."
Xie Xingchen pulled the person out of the blanket and pressed them back into the pillow next to him, commenting, "You're so clueless. Go to sleep, stop messing around."
With Lin Yao's soft confession playing on repeat in his mind, Xie Xingchen was too excited to sleep. He simply pulled Lin Yao into a tight embrace and kissed him on the top of his head.
Perhaps because the hug was too tight, Lin Yao almost suffocated when he woke up naturally.
When he opened his eyes, he felt his entire face being pressed against firm chest muscles, making it difficult to breathe.
He reflexively twisted the man's wrist, then thrust his knee into him, pinning him to the bed. His voice was cold: "Looking for death?"
I wonder which fool dared to sneak into his bed and attack him.
Xie Xingchen, who had been accidentally injured, groaned and opened his eyes helplessly: "It hurts."
Lin Yao's hazy vision cleared slightly, and he muttered, "Am I dreaming? Why am I dreaming about beating up Xie Xingchen again?"
"Knees, put them down, hands, let go."
Xie Xingchen almost died here. His brows were furrowed. "I held it in all night, and you still bumped into me. Aren't you afraid I'll die here?"
Lin Yao was at a loss: "Excuse me, are you feeling better?"
It was quite amusing to see him change his expression and become so ingratiating.
Xie Xingchen's expression was subtle: "...A slap followed by a candy?"
Lin Yao knew he was in the wrong and had no reply.
Xie Xingchen tightened his jaw, moved his hand away, and said in a hoarse voice, "Still not sober?"
Lin Yao stared blankly at the other person for several seconds before realizing that they were actually at Xie Xingchen's house.
"I don't remember." Xie Xingchen looked at his dazed expression and asserted, "You've forgotten again. I knew it."
Fragments of thoughts flashed through Lin Yao's mind, and he struggled to grasp at the fragments.
I like you.
There seems to be a sentence like that.
But who can say for sure? Was it just a moment of impulsiveness that led her to speak her mind, or was it Xie Xingchen who confessed his feelings, or was it just a hallucination in a dream?
That's it, I don't dare ask.
Seeing his serious expression, Xie Xingchen couldn't help but want to laugh: "If you can't remember, that's fine, I won't force you."
"Did I promise you anything?" Lin Yao asked tentatively.
"Yes." Xie Xingchen lazily looked at the person half-lying on top of him, reminding him of the key phrase, "You promised after my birthday."
After my birthday, I'll sort out all that mess and then become his boyfriend.
Lin Yao leaned against him, blinking slowly. He seemed to have repeated those words before, more than once.
"After your birthday, do..."
"You remember now?" Xie Xingchen observed his suddenly flushed cheeks, even his earlobes turned bright red, and raised his hand to rub them. "No taking it back."
Lin Yao froze, thinking to himself that he must have been drunk and confused. How could he let the other person do whatever he wanted just because he liked him?
He actually agreed to celebrate his birthday with Xie Xingchen!
"This is... my birthday present for you? What a surprise!"
