Highway Survival 8

Highway Survival 8

There are wolves in front and tigers behind, and the means of transportation cannot be used. The situation looks very miserable.

Chu Yun decisively abandoned the car, opened the door and ran towards the center of the desert, with Wang Mao following closely behind.

Before, cars could easily get rid of zombies by relying on speed, but now we can only run on our legs. Human strength is limited, but the strength of zombies is unlimited.

Two hours later, Wang Mao was completely exhausted. He lay on the ground, looking up at the sky, gasping for air as if he would die if he didn't. He was so tired, so exhausted, he couldn't hold on any longer.

Chu Yun looked at the zombies that had been following him and asked, "Can we continue?"

Wang Mao shook his head bitterly. He might have to quit the game because he couldn't accompany the boss to the last step.

Chu Yun understood in his heart that it was already remarkable that he could achieve this step: "Then you should withdraw."

Wang Mao looked at her gratefully: "Well, thank you, Chu Yun!"

Thank you for not looking down on me and bringing me all the way to the last day. Without a weakling like me dragging me down, Chu Yun should be able to handle it more easily.

After watching Wang Mao turn into white smoke and disappear, Chu Yun turned around and ran away, even faster than before, with the gap between him and the zombies getting bigger and bigger.

At 8 p.m., darkness deepened, and with no more zombies in sight, Chu Yun finally slowed down and stopped. She took a deep breath, pulled a bottle of water from her storage ring, gulped it down, and then sprawled out on the desert floor. She was so damn tired, she felt like falling asleep. But no, she couldn't let her guard down until the very last moment.

Tonight, the weather is warming, calm and rainless, a perfect day. There's no longer just a single moon overhead; stars large and small dot the pitch-black sky, twinkling with dazzling brilliance. It's been a long time since I've seen such a beautiful nightscape, whether in the post-apocalyptic world or in our modern world, rife with exhaust pollution.

I didn’t expect to see such a scenery in the game. Chu Yun admired the night view above his head and sighed silently.

After a 10-minute rest to replenish his energy, Chu Yun stood up, dusted off the sand, and headed back into the desert. The zombies behind him were following him again. They were like a string of code, always following the game's settings. They would gather around the living.

Two hours later, Chu Yun came across a processing plant. It was a spacious, two-story bungalow, not very large, with yellow clay walls. Inscribed on the mud walls were a few conspicuous characters: "Desert Processing Plant." Inside, it was pitch black and quiet, suggesting no one was there.

Chu Yun took out a wooden stick from the space ring. It was collected at the gas station and he put it in casually. He lit the stick with the flint he got from Wang Mao and walked in following the faint light.

It turned out to be a processing plant. Could there be any remaining supplies inside? According to the general game settings, supplies are usually dropped behind some buildings or bosses and monsters. It sounds strange to find a processing plant in this endless desert, but it is just a supply point provided by the game.

With less than two hours left, she wanted to search for supplies again.

Chu Yun climbed in through the nearest window. This place was probably an office before, with only a row of desks and a tall iron storage cabinet.

Following the faint firelight, Chu Yun spotted a row of switches behind the desk. She flipped them one by one, and the warm yellow lights above her head lit up one by one. Chu Yun's eyebrows raised slightly. There was still electricity? She extinguished the flame of the wooden stick and turned to search the office for supplies.

The table was covered with crumpled papers. Chu Yun flipped through them one by one. They were all messy and looked like drafts, which were of no use.

Then, she opened the drawers of her desk one by one. There were only two brand-new pens and a stack of blank papers, which Chu Yun put into her storage ring. Pens and paper were also very valuable, as they were not sold in the local convenience store.

Then he opened the rows of drawers in the locker. The lockers were made of iron, and the friction sound of sliding the drawers was particularly obvious in this empty space. The sharp sound of the metal was like rubbing against one's nerves, making one feel sick and goose bumps. Chu Yun endured the sound of the lockers opening while carefully listening to the sounds around him to prevent any sneak attacks.

Chu Yun hoped to find something useful in the iron cabinet, but the reality proved that it was just a simple office with no supplies except a pile of white paper.

Chu Yun walked towards the door in disappointment. Right next to the door was the production workshop. Chu Yun took a quick look and saw about ten production lines. Scattered along the tracks were some processed products, wrapped in plastic bags, making it impossible to tell what they were. There were no other machines or equipment, likely having been moved out long ago.

Chu Yun had a clear goal and searched the production lines one by one. To prevent the game from hiding black rats and harming people again, Chu Yun was extra cautious this time. She used her mace to test the contents of the plastic bag, confirming that it was dead, and then she picked it up to examine it.

It says: A packet of vegetable seeds.

Chu Yun was shocked!

The seeds are great! If they can be planted, we'll have vegetables to eat in the future. This place must have been used to process vegetable seeds. I never thought such a processing plant would appear in the desert. It's really surprising. Chu Yun thought of the island in Community 135. There seemed to be no place to farm on the island, and there didn't seem to be much vacant land on the island.

Chu Yun didn't think too much about it and put everything into the storage ring without thinking. He collected the supplies in case they were useful in the future.

Time was running out, and she moved quickly, weaving between the production lines like a nimble civet cat. She then collected three more bags of green vegetable seeds. This processing plant also had a second floor. Chu Yun took the only staircase up to the second floor, which was still pitch black.

Drawing on her experience scavenging through ruins in her previous life, she quickly found the light switches. Many lights were broken, but the few that remained were enough to illuminate the small processing plant. The second floor clearly contained more supplies than the lower floor, and Chu Yun excitedly inspected them one by one.

2 vegetable seed packets, 1 cotton seed packet, 1 corn seed packet, 1 potato seed packet. Even more surprising, she also collected a packet of rice seeds and a packet of fruit seeds. The fruit packets contained relatively few seeds. Chu Yun felt them with her hands and found only a few. Fewer seeds meant more value, so she put them all into her storage ring. She searched the second floor thoroughly, finding nothing useful. Just as she was about to leave, she heard a howling sound coming from downstairs.

This familiar tune, isn't it the same zombie brothers who have been following her for several days? They really don't give her any time to rest.

Chu Yun ran into the only office on the second floor and peered out the window. Downstairs was already teeming with zombies, swarming around the processing plant, with several already inside. Going down now would surely lead to the zombies capturing him alive; it wouldn't work. Chu Yun then ran to the other side of the second floor to check. There were also zombies swarming there. These were the only two windows on the second floor, and both were already surrounded by zombies.

Chu Yun thought for just a few seconds before she figured out a solution. She rushed to the only entrance leading to the second floor and closed the battered door. Zombies couldn't climb walls, so this was their only way to reach the second floor, but it wouldn't hold back the zombies for long. She then ran to the office and used her storage ring to store the iron cabinet. The storage ring was only 4 x 2 x 2 meters, and since it was filled with other supplies, it was already full with just the iron cabinet.

Without hesitation, she sprinted to the second-floor door. She could already hear the sounds of zombies climbing the stairs. She had to move quickly. By the time she had blocked the door with the iron cabinet, the first zombie had already reached the door. It smelled the scent of life, but couldn't get in, blocked by the door and the iron cabinet. It could only roar and bang its head against the door, the thumping sounds sounding like it was about to burst. One iron cabinet wasn't enough. With so many zombies downstairs, it was only a matter of time before they pushed open the iron cabinet.

She quickly went back and forth between the office and the front door, adding a desk behind the iron cabinet, and then stacking desks on top of the desks. Only when all the heavy objects in the office were piled behind the door did Chu Yun breathe a sigh of relief. If the production line wasn't too long and the storage ring couldn't fit it, she would have moved all the iron shelves over there.

The sound of zombies banging on the door was still heard outside, but Chu Yun had piled up thousands of pounds of objects behind the door, so they couldn't break through for a while.

Chu Yun walked to the window farthest from the gate. At this time, there were only a few zombies wandering around the factory, and most of them had entered the factory.

She wasn't in a rush to escape yet, but she still pulled the escape rope from her storage ring. The rope was long enough to be folded in two and hung on the window frame like a simple static pulley. Thanks to the supplies she had exchanged with Wang Mao earlier, it could now be put to use.

Then she sat and waited, opening a box lunch while waiting. She had been escaping all afternoon and had no time to eat. Now that the zombies were isolated and couldn't get in, she quickly filled her stomach.

The clock ticked away, and after an hour, the zombies were about to break through. Chu Yun looked at the fallen desks one by one, and she knew that the last iron cabinet wouldn't hold out for much longer. She glanced under the window, which happened to be clear of zombies, making it a good place to escape.

Chu Yun tied the other end of the rope around his waist, gripped it tightly with both hands, faced the wall, and, pushing with his legs, bent his body into a hunched position. Like a cooked shrimp, he climbed down the wall, section by section. The factory building was only five meters high, and Chu Yun had it down in just over ten seconds. Chu Yun grabbed one end of the escape rope, pulled it down completely, and then turned and ran.

The moment her feet touched the ground, zombies broke in through the door.

However, they began to wander back and forth as if they had been hit by a bug. Chu Yun had already escaped, and the presence of living people disappeared from the second floor. The zombies suddenly lost their direction. By the time they reacted and followed Chu Yun's scent, it was too late.

20 minutes later, at 12 o'clock in the evening, the game ended in the last second.

Chu Yun successfully passed the level.
