Chapter 64: Going into the water (Minor Repair)

Chapter 64: Going into the water (Minor Repair)

After an unknown amount of time, 517 finally followed the clues left by the mysterious alien and arrived at the shore of a lake with lush water plants.

Whether it was the knowledge passed down from the pioneers' inherited memories or the innate instinct of living things to seek benefits and avoid harm, they were all ringing alarm bells in his mind, indicating that there was a huge danger lurking here.

However, 517 hesitated for only a moment before choosing to hide quietly in the grass by the lake.

He knew full well that his action was utterly irrational. Here, an unknown danger could strike and leave him dead in an instant, yet his body was rooted to the spot, refusing to budge.

As time passed, the chain around 517's neck began to tighten, a cruel reminder of his collecting duties as a pioneer, but he remained motionless.

I would rather die in pain than live like this...

517 lay silent and still like a decaying corpse for a long time, until his consciousness gradually faded, his eyelids began to twitch involuntarily like two heavy lead blocks, and sleepiness overwhelmed him like a tidal wave...

Sleepy? How could this happen... Oops!

As if realizing something, 517's scalp suddenly tightened, and a strong sense of crisis instantly pulled him out of his hazy sleep.

He suddenly turned over and tried to get away from all the living things around him, but his body was bound firmly in place as if it had fallen into a sticky spider web. No matter how he struggled, he could not move at all.

Under the threat of death, 517 made a prompt decision to escape. He quickly discarded the protective suit that was originally used for camouflage.

He threw off the heavy equipment with a whoosh, making a dull sound on the ground, but a new crisis followed.

Ever since the skin was exposed to the air, the pollution level in 517's body has been growing at a terrifying rate, and various degrees of alienation have begun to appear on the surface of the body.

The hair on his head looked as if it had been burned by flames, taking on a strange, dry color. His originally healthy face gradually became dark and mottled, as if shrouded in a layer of bluish-gray shadow.

At this rate, the remaining energy in 517's body can only support him for another five or six minutes!

We must find a way to escape as soon as possible...

517, who had just recovered his breath, gritted his teeth and burst out at an astonishing speed at the critical moment of life and death.

He took two steps at a time and recklessly jumped into the lake. Then, with a feint, he emerged from the water again, ready to randomly choose a relatively safe direction and start running for his life.

However, fate always seemed to like playing tricks on people. The second he touched the lake surface, his body was silently entangled by dense sticky tentacles in the water.

Those strange tentacles that were almost invisible in the lake were cold, slippery and full of power. They tightly wrapped around his body from all directions, making him unable to move.

Once you are stuck by them, it is like being stuck in a quagmire from which you cannot escape. The harder you struggle, the tighter the tentacles tighten, and you can only wait to be slaughtered.

517's heart suddenly sank to the bottom of the valley like a rootless duckweed, and a deep despair gradually drowned him with the cold lake water.

At this critical moment, a tall black figure suddenly appeared in his field of vision - judging from the man's figure and appearance, he should also be a pioneer!

"Help—" 517's eyes suddenly lit up, and he burst into an astonishing will to survive. He struggled to stretch out his hands, shouting with all his strength.

However, as the "figure" gradually approached, 517's pupils widened, his expression became more and more terrified, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.

The exposed facial skin of this "pioneer" in front of him was extremely smooth and flawless, and his body was thin but not showing any signs of fatigue. At first glance, there seemed to be nothing wrong with it.

But whether it was the strange outlines that kept wriggling and protruding under his torso bound by cloth, or the stringy slime dripping on his exposed skin, all of them pointed out the fact that he was a non-human creature!

At this time, 517's spirit was on the verge of collapse and despair, not only for himself, but also for other humans in the hive.

If this terrifying and powerful creature were to invade the mother nest through itself, humanity would completely lose hope of survival...

At this moment, 517 hated his damn curiosity immensely. It seemed that even dying quickly would be a luxury - but the next second, the development of the matter was completely beyond his expectations.

He saw that the part of the face of this extremely strange creature in front of him that could be called a "mouth" did not move at all, but a cold and hoarse voice pierced through his mind without any hindrance: "Leave here, human—"

Before he finished speaking, 517's eyes suddenly blurred, and the lake, tentacles, and monsters all disappeared in an instant.

When 517 regained consciousness, he found himself and his bulky protective suit thrown into some corner. Only the lake water and mucus left on his body revealed what had happened.

On the lakeshore, Huai Mi, who had successfully defended his territory, stared at the direction where the human was expelled without blinking, until his furthest tentacles could no longer detect any trace of the outsider, and then he lowered his eyes.

However, for some unknown reason, the neural factors in his body remained extremely agitated. The new flower buds that rapidly grew from the mucus beneath him exploded as soon as they emerged, presenting a ferocious and aggressive posture.

"He—is mine..."

In the darkness, Huai Mi's face was terribly pale, and the strange outline beneath his handsome skin was violently undulating, almost bursting through the human disguise.

He didn't know what he was thinking about, and then he stared at the lake, biting his fingers expressionlessly, and a string of unclear and meaningless syllables came out of his throat.

There seemed to be some huge monster lurking at the bottom of the lake, twisting restlessly with his breathing, and the aftermath drove out all the other living things in its territory.

After a moment, all the noise disappeared, and Huai Mi returned to his harmless appearance. He sat quietly by the lake, staring blankly at the water.

This was the scene he saw when Bombbell returned to his nest.

"Why are you out here alone?"

As he spoke, he jumped lightly and quickly landed next to Huai Mi. He took the initiative to touch their knees and shoulders intimately, and then sat down on the ground.

"Hmm..." Huai Mi responded softly.

He turned sideways, smelled the familiar and pleasant scent on Bombbel's body, and silently moved closer to her. After that, there were no more words.

Bombbel didn't care about this. His ice-blue eyes were shining as he looked in the direction where Huai Mi's gaze was for a while, but after looking for a long time, he didn't see anything special.

Then he took out the fruits of his hunting today from behind him like a magic trick. It was some fresh flesh and blood of prey, still emitting a faint sweet and fishy smell.

He began to talk to himself: "Today we are eating this! Look, this is my..."

Time passed leisurely. Bombber was like a lively puppy, constantly sharing his day's experiences, while Huai Mi listened quietly, occasionally nodding slightly in response.

The two of them, one active and one quiet, were surprisingly harmonious.

Looking at Huai Mi with her brows lowered and just eating quietly, Bombbel's fingers unconsciously wanted to pinch something again.

But this time, he only had flower buds the size of rice grains in his hands. Those little things were delicate and fragile, and were not suitable for him to handle at all, so Bombbel could only touch his earrings in disappointment.

【Host--】

At this peaceful moment, a voice suddenly sounded in his ears, as if urging something. Hearing it, Bombber could only sigh helplessly:

[I know, I know…]

He swallowed, took a deep breath, then looked at Huai Mi's reserved profile and said quickly:

"Huai Mi, are you adapting to life in the hive? I'm sorry, I'm going out hunting and you have to stay home alone. It must be boring... Am I too selfish? After all, I'm not your true kind—"

[Host, what are you talking about...]

Yes, God! Why did I say that... Bumblebee couldn't help biting his tongue, but he couldn't control his mouth at all. He could only bite the bullet and continue speaking with a slight stutter:

"I, what I mean is - if, if you want to leave the hive and return to the human base..."

"You want me to leave?" Huai Mi suddenly interrupted Bombbel's words. His voice was soft, but it carried a strong emotion that was difficult to conceal, like the calm sea before a storm.

"Ah?" Bombbel hadn't reacted yet, but the next second, he saw Huai Mi suddenly turn around and smile silently, then pull him into the lake without saying anything.

In an instant, the cold lake water, like the abyss of a monster, tightly wrapped the two of them.

"Wait, wait a minute, there's a monster in the water—"

In a panic, Bombbel grabbed Huai Mi's waist, trying to lift her entire upper body out of the water.

But Huai Mi suddenly bit the antennae on his head that were drooping like airplane ears. The wet bumblebee's hair stood on end, and he subconsciously wanted to reach out to cover it.

Then, Bombbel suddenly felt his arms lighten. Huai Mi, who he had been holding tightly in his arms, suddenly slipped away from him like an ice cube melting in water, and then disappeared silently into the lake.

Seeing this, Bombbel was immediately panicked: I am a terrestrial Zerg and I am not good at swimming!

But how could bumblebees easily give up their own insects?

So Bombber gritted his teeth, as if he had made up his mind, took a deep breath, and then plunged into the water.
