Chapter 18 Lu Yao’s paintings
Li Mei watched quietly from the side.
The heartwarming scene depicted by Lu Yao softened her heart.
She couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke Lu Yao's head, her eyes filled with pity.
Lu Yao is such a pitiful child.
Abandoned by her family in a mental hospital, she still longs for and expects her mother's care.
Fortunately, the child has shown signs of improvement.
If I can fully recover, I might be able to return to my mother's side and feel the warmth of family again.
Li Mei put away Lu Yao's painting and praised her gently, "Yao Yao is really great."
After get off work, Li Mei took Lu Yao's painting home.
After a year of treatment, this was the first time she had seen Lu Yao make such progress.
For Li Mei, this is something to be incredibly celebrated and full of a sense of accomplishment.
She wants to hang this painting carefully in her study so that it will constantly remind her to care for patients with love and patience, and help them gradually emerge from the shadows and regain a new life.
...
That evening, the atmosphere at Li Mei's home was as quiet as ever.
Li Mei was busy in her study, reviewing patient medical records and preparing treatment plans for the next day.
Lu Yao's painting was temporarily placed in the living room, awaiting framing.
Meanwhile, her daughter, Lin Zhizi, who is in high school, was doing her homework in her room.
At this time, not only the mother and daughter were at home, but also Li Mei's cousin, Gao Yu, who was also Lin Zhizi's cousin.
Gao Yu is a student at Liguang University and just started her freshman year this September.
He was tall and slender, with a pair of black-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, and had a refined and scholarly air.
Since coming to Liguang City to study, he would knock on Li Mei's door every weekend, ostensibly to visit his aunt.
Li Mei greatly admired her handsome and academically excellent cousin Gao Yu and often urged Lin Zhizi to learn from him.
So every time Gao Yu came, he would use the excuse of tutoring her to brazenly enter Lin Zhizi's bedroom.
Today, as usual, he walked into the room with light steps and a seemingly friendly smile on his lips.
Lin Zhizi sat at her desk, head down, her fingers trembling involuntarily.
She sensed Gao Yu's presence behind her, a presence that made her uneasy.
Gao Yu's voice carried a hint of teasing: "Zhi Zi, you can't do this problem again? Let me help you."
Lin Zhizi didn't look up, but said softly, "Thank you, Brother Yu, I can manage on my own."
Her voice was barely audible, with a slight tremor.
Gao Yu, however, had no intention of letting her go.
He walked around to Lin Zhizi's table, leaned forward, and whispered near her shoulder, "Zhizi, you're always so shy. Actually, we're not that much older than each other, why be so formal?"
He reached out to Lin Zhizi's shoulder, trying to put his arm around her waist.
Lin Zhizi's body stiffened abruptly. She felt Gao Yu's hands roaming over her body, and a strong sense of disgust welled up inside her.
She wanted to resist, but was afraid of being misunderstood by her family, so she could only bite her lip and hold back her tears.
Three months ago, Gao Yu entered her life for the first time.
At that time, he was still praised by his elders and appreciated by his mother, making her feel that he was a trustworthy cousin.
However, Gao Yu's true colors were soon revealed.
From initially "tutoring" his homework to later becoming increasingly indecent, his behavior became more and more outrageous.
Lin Zhizi was gentle and timid by nature. Faced with Gao Yu's harassment, she dared not resist, nor did she dare to tell her mother, Li Mei.
Gao Yu has an excellent reputation among her elders, and she is afraid that no one will believe her.
Gao Yu seemed to sense her weakness and became even more unscrupulous.
Lin Zhizi felt extremely depressed, but didn't know what to do.
She bit her lip, trying to appear calm, but silently praying that someone would save her.
In the empty living room, the little figures in Lu Yao's painting still huddled together.
The runes that were originally hidden in the patterns of the painting suddenly seemed to come alive, emitting a faint golden light.
The air in the room became strange, as if an invisible force was quietly spreading.
Gao Yu was so engrossed in his despicable actions that he didn't notice this sudden change at all.
Suddenly, he felt as if his body was being cut by countless blades at the same time, and excruciating pain struck him instantly.
He screamed in agony, instinctively covering his body with his hands and rolling on the ground in pain.
Lin Zhizi was startled by this scene, and surprise and fear flashed in her originally timid eyes.
Gao Yu felt waves of pain throughout his body, but on the surface, everything seemed normal, with no wounds or marks.
He looked at Lin Zhizi in terror, pleading for her help.
But Lin Zhizi just stood there, motionless.
"What...what's wrong with you?" Lin Zhizi asked, trembling.
Gao Yu could no longer answer; he could only continue rolling on the ground, each struggle accompanied by an even more pitiful scream.
"Help me, help me..."
Gao Yu managed to squeeze out complete words, his eyes filled with pleading.
Lin Zhizi stood there, looking at Gao Yu's miserable state, her heart filled with mixed feelings.
The initial fear gradually faded, replaced by a secret pleasure.
She recalled the humiliation and pain she had suffered during this period.
Seeing Gao Yu's disheveled state filled her with a sense of vengeful pleasure.
Lin Zhizi thought about it calmly and guessed that Gao Yu had suddenly developed acute pancreatitis or appendicitis.
She calmed herself down, walked out of her bedroom, and decided to tell Li Mei later, letting Gao Yu suffer a little longer.
As soon as Lin Zhizi stepped into the living room, she saw something glittering on the coffee table.
Upon closer inspection, she was surprised to find that it was a drawing by a patient her mother had brought home that day.
As the runes flashed, Gao Yu's pain intensified.
His consciousness began to blur, and terrifying hallucinations appeared in his mind.
The surrounding reality gradually becomes distorted.
He found himself in a place filled with boiling oil pots.
The oil in the pan was bubbling and boiling, and the hot oil droplets that splashed up and landed around it instantly ignited into a raging fire.
Those illusions seemed to come from hell, dragging him into an endless abyss.
"You have broken the precept against sexual misconduct and will be sent to the Hell of Tongue-Pulling, the Hell of Scissors, and the Hell of Iron Trees..."
The demon's voice was deep and hoarse, as if it came from the depths of hell.
In extreme pain and fear, Gao Yu realized that his actions might have truly angered some mysterious force.
At this moment, in a ward of the Fifth Mental Hospital, Lu Yao was sitting quietly on the bed.
She closed her eyes slightly, sensing everything that was happening in Li Mei's home.
She gave a barely perceptible smile.
