Chapter 1 Shen Lang

"Mr. Shen, go to the finance department to settle your salary. You don't need to come in tomorrow." In the office, a fat, bald, middle-aged man said arrogantly to Shen Lang.

"Manager Cao, I did nothing wrong, so why should I be fired?" Shen Lang asked with displeasure.

The obese, balding man whom Shen Lang called Manager Cao sneered: "Do you know who you've been talking back to? That's the big boss of our hotel. I'm only giving you face by letting you go to the finance department to collect your salary because we've been colleagues for many years."

Shen Lang touched his nose. He had actually expected this outcome, but he didn't expect that what happened in the morning would lead to his dismissal at noon.

“Alright then,” Shen Lang said. “In that case, please have Manager Cao issue me a certificate according to the dismissal criteria in the employment contract.”

"No, go settle your wages and then come back to complete your resignation procedures," Manager Cao said impatiently.

Shen Lang laughed and said, "Then there's nothing I can do, Manager Cao. Since you're going to fire me but won't give me a dismissal certificate, I'll just have to continue working."

After speaking, Shen Lang left the office without looking back. According to the Labor Contract Law of the Yanhuang Kingdom, in addition to paying wages, employers shall pay severance pay to employees based on their length of service with the company, at a rate of one month's salary for each full year of service. Service of six months or more but less than one year shall be calculated as one year; service of less than six months shall be compensated with half a month's salary.

Shen Lang had worked at this hotel for exactly five years, with an average monthly income of around [amount missing]. If the HR department dismissed him without cause, then according to the Labor Contract Law, he would be entitled to five months' salary plus this month's salary as compensation, which would amount to approximately 180,000 yuan.

Manager Cao watched Shen Lang's retreating figure with a gloomy gaze, seemingly plotting something. After Shen Lang left, he took out his phone and made a call: "President Liu, Shen Lang insists on issuing him a dismissal certificate. It seems he's trying to extort us under the Labor Contract Law."

A woman's voice came from the other end of the phone: "Just give him N+1 compensation. I want to see if he can live to receive it and live to spend it."

“But Mr. Liu, if we give him N+1, it might require a large sum of money in compensation,” Manager Cao said hesitantly.

"Can't you understand what I'm saying?"

"Yes, Mr. Liu, I'll have him pack his bags and leave right now." The woman's unquestionable tone made Manager Cao's expression change, and he immediately replied.

The incident began when a long-term valued customer of the hotel booked the only presidential suite a month ago. However, when the customer was about to check in today, Liu Huimin stopped him, saying that she wanted to use the suite and asked the front desk to cancel the reservation.

After the receptionist informed Shen Lang, Shen Lang and Liu Huimin started arguing in the office. Shen Lang realized that Liu Huimin was targeting him, trying to find an excuse to remove him from management and put her own people in the store.

After the argument, although the presidential suite was reserved according to Shen Lang's wishes, he received a notice from Manager Cao of the Human Resources Department, asking him to go to the Human Resources Department to complete the formalities.

Shen Lang returned to the senior staff dormitory and began packing his things. He knew he couldn't stay there any longer, and looking at his belongings, he still felt a pang of reluctance.

He had managed the five-star hotel from its opening and renovation to its official operation, and now that he was suddenly leaving, he was genuinely reluctant. However, he had wanted to resign for a long time. A year ago, the hotel's ownership changed hands, and the original owner, who had always been optimistic about him, transferred the hotel to the current owner, Liu Huimin, due to family circumstances.

Although Liu Huimin rarely came to the hotel after taking over, and her salary and benefits remained unchanged, she interfered in management and went against her own business philosophy. Her dismissal and resignation were simply due to her failure to submit her resignation letter.

That's fine too. Although there's the stain of being fired from my profession, the money I've saved over the years, plus my compensation, is enough to buy a house of my own back in my hometown.

Shen Lang was an orphan; his parents died in a car accident when he was seven. Between being raised by relatives and going to an orphanage, Shen Lang chose the latter. After finishing elementary school, he left the orphanage and lived on his own with the compensation money his parents received.

After finishing high school, he chose to drop out and work. Fortunately, he met a good boss who helped him from the beginning of his employment. Unfortunately, due to an accident, the boss is now nowhere to be found.

After he finished packing, HR manager Cao Anjia came to his dormitory: "Shen Lang, General Manager Liu has agreed to give you N+1 compensation. Go to the finance office later to settle your salary."

After saying that, Cao Anjia left with a cold smile on her face.

Shen Lang frowned slightly upon hearing this. The current boss, Liu Huimin, was notorious for being stingy and cut corners on hotel operating costs, to the point of being unwilling to spend a penny. How could she so easily agree to a compensation of 200,000 yuan?

However, Shen Lang did not hesitate for long. After packing his things in his office, he went to the finance department.

"Mr. Shen, are you really leaving?" The head of the finance department was a beautiful woman nearing thirty, and like Shen Lang, she was a veteran of the hotel. When she saw Shen Lang, a trace of sadness and reluctance appeared on her face.

Shen Lang teased the mature and beautiful woman in front of him, "Sister Wang, if you can't bear to part with me, you can come with me!"

"Sure, you must go once President Chen finds a good place to stay," Wang Dandan replied with a forced smile.

Shen Lang walked up to her and said, "I'm planning to go back to my hometown in the countryside to open a pig farm. Sister Wang, are you coming?"

"Get lost." Wang Dandan smiled charmingly and said coquettishly, "Who would believe that the famous President Shen would go and run a pig farm?"

Then Wang Dandan took out a document and handed it to Shen Lang, saying, "Please sign this, Mr. Shen, and I will transfer the money to you immediately."

After the formalities were completed, Wang Dandan said to Shen Lang, "President Shen, have you ever considered opening your own hotel? All of us employees would love to work for you."

Shen Lang said irritably, "Even if you took us all apart and sold our parts, you still couldn't afford a five-star hotel."

After saying that, Shen Lang turned and left the finance office.

Since the hotel opened, Shen Lang has not taken a single day off in the past five years. He has been working diligently in his position day after day. During this time, many headhunting companies have approached him with very generous offers, but Shen Lang has refused them all.

Now that he's free, he wants to take a break.

After leaving the hotel, Shen Lang pulled his suitcase and walked down the street, planning to find a real estate agency to rent a place to stay first.

Just then, his phone rang, and Shen Lang answered the call without hesitation.

"Mr. Shen, I heard you left Yas?" A hearty laugh came from the other end of the phone.
