Chapter 217 Who was it that said they wanted to have a bunch of little monkeys for me?

“It’s me,” the man’s deep voice, accompanied by his warm breath, entered my ear. “Don’t be afraid!”

Gong Ning shuddered subconsciously and reached out to rub her ears, trying to get rid of this strange and unusual feeling.

The next moment, as if waking from a dream, she brushed away Yan Jingzhou's long, slender, fair hand, "What are you doing here? Didn't you tell me to come home alone?"

The girl's voice was annoyed and embarrassed, filled with resentment.

To the man, it sounded like a kitten whose fur was already standing on end had its tail stepped on.

The man pondered for a moment, then said calmly, "My wife went back to her parents' home alone, so it's only right that I accompany her!"

Perhaps because it was the first time Gong Ning had heard the word "wife" from Yan Jingzhou's mouth, her heart stirred slightly.

Her fair face flushed subconsciously. "What nonsense are you talking about? I'm your girlfriend now, your fiancée, not your wife yet."

A hint of amusement flickered in the man's eyes. "Who was it that once said they'd give me a bunch of little monkeys..."

The girl's face instantly turned bright red, her pink earlobes turned as red as if dripping blood, and her toes, hidden under the blanket, curled up shyly a few times.

She had just seen him and was in a hurry to appease him, so she said things without thinking!

The man's hot fingers gently caressed the girl's earlobe. He leaned close to her ear and spoke in a seductive and alluring voice, "So, it's bound to happen sooner or later. Do you think you can run away now?"

The girl wrinkled her nose and smiled smugly, "That's not necessarily true!"

Upon hearing this, the large bed, shrouded in curtains, fell silent instantly.

The man's narrow phoenix eyes gradually deepened into a dark and silent gaze. He pursed his lips and stared intently at Gong Ning, a hint of danger in his eyes.

The dim light from the bedside lamp shone softly through the thin gauze curtains onto the man's face, making the unfathomable expression in his eyes even more apparent.

A chill ran down Gong Ning's spine. She blinked, then pouted and turned her head away from him with an extremely arrogant air. "Don't think that just because you're looking at me like that, I'll give in. It's not certain. I'm already heartbroken that you didn't come home with me today. You've hurt me so much. What else is impossible? If you treat me badly, I'll jump over the wall, hmph!"

Before the man could speak, the girl took a breath and continued:

"Let me tell you, don't you dare ignore me or get angry. I'm the one who should be angry. You have no right to be angry. Tell me, aren't you going too far? Why didn't you come back with me? I thought you would continue to insist on not letting Grandpa bring me back. Putting aside whether I wanted to come back or not, your attitude was just not good. I was even trying to sneak over there to get close to you, and what did you do... Yan Jingzhou, you have let me down. I'm furious!"

The girl kept accusing him, but her voice unconsciously became softer and softer, filled with a deep sense of grievance.

Although he knew that she had deliberately exaggerated some of it, the man could still detect a hint of disappointment in her rambling words.

Yan Jingzhou suddenly stretched out his long arm and pulled the girl into his arms from behind, his hot chest instantly enveloping her.

A long, slender, fair hand covered the girl's fluffy hair, and he spoke softly, "So, I've come in person to apologize. I hope Jiaojiao will be magnanimous and not be angry with me, okay?"

The girl immediately quieted down and stopped making a fuss.

She suddenly rolled over and snuggled into the man's arms, her little hands tightly hugging his neck.

The little head nestled in the man's arms, rubbing against him obediently. Then, a muffled, small voice came from within him, "You didn't spend any time with me today. You have no idea, but when I went home with my parents and grandpa, I was actually a little scared. It's been so many years since I've been home, and my memories of them are so unfamiliar. But you weren't there with me. I'm not being unreasonable; I'm just feeling really wronged. So you have to comfort me, comfort me properly."

It was clearly a very aggrieved situation, but for some reason, Yan Jingzhou couldn't help but want to laugh when he heard the end of it.

Noticing the girl's emotional vulnerability, the man quickly concealed the smile in his eyes.

The next instant, he reached out and gently pinched the girl's chin, lifting it slightly.

The man lowered his head and suddenly covered the girl's incessantly chattering pink lips with his, swallowing up all her grievances and accusations...

The room fell silent again. Yan Jingzhou's disordered breathing gradually calmed down, and he turned his head to see the girl's wet tears.

The man's eyes darkened slightly as he gently stroked the corner of her eye with his long, slender, jade-like fingers. His tone carried a hint of magnetism and an unknown allure, "It was my oversight. How can I make you feel better?"

The usually boisterous girl was now incredibly well-behaved, nestled softly in the man's arms without saying a word, her fair face adorned with an alluring, innocent blush.

Upon hearing this, the girl pursed her lips, a hint of hesitation flashing in her eyes. Her fingers unconsciously twisted together, but in the next instant, she finally asked, "A-Zhou, I have a question for you. Answer it seriously... I just want to hear the truth!"

The man nodded slightly. "Yes, ask away!"

Gong Ning subconsciously twisted her fair fingers together again. "I've never asked you about what happened after that Qingyan... I was declared dead, but I woke up not long after. Why weren't you surprised, puzzled, or asked me about that? And my past, all those inexplicable things that happened to me, or things you don't know, aren't you curious? You never ask me about them either..."

Perhaps it was seeing her long-lost family tonight and thinking about what Gong Xiangru had done to her in the past that made Gong Ning feel a little apprehensive and vulnerable, with a sense of gain and loss.
