Chapter 134 Ji Quan

“What’s there to be afraid of?” Ji Quan said aggressively. “At most, I’ll get a few scoldings and be sent back. It won’t hurt. What if it works?”

"Too!"

They ate a steamed bun to bolster their courage, and a group of people strode over menacingly.

Upon seeing the newcomers, Huang Qing immediately became alert. "Ji Quan, this is Huangjiakou area. What are you doing here?"

“Exactly,” Huang Hai raised his arm, “If you want to fight, just say so. Whoever backs down is a coward.”

"Get out of here," Ji Quan said impatiently. "I'm not looking for you. Go away and don't waste my time."

"What, you want to cause trouble?" Huang Qing made a gesture, and the people of Huangjiakou immediately stood behind him.

"What are you looking for?" Ji Quan glanced at the two of them with disdain. "Don't you know what crime it is to have a private fight during the period of forced labor? If you want to die, don't drag me down with you."

These words infuriated Huang Qing.

He came storming in with a group of people, but now he's blaming himself.

“You’re being completely unreasonable,” Huang Qing said, his face turning ashen. “Leave now if you have nothing else to do. You’re not welcome here.”

"I'm not looking for you, what are you babbling about?" Ji Quan impatiently pushed the person aside. "You're babbling like a woman. Hurry up and make way."

Before Huang Qing could react, he nimbly slipped in from the side.

The people of Jijia Village followed him inside.

As the year drew to a close, Xie's impatient expression vanished instantly, replaced by a faint smile. "Sister, could you share some of the chicken soup left in the earthenware pot with us?"

After finishing his meal, Xie felt bored, so he took the wooden ladle used for serving food and kept stirring the last bit of soup.

Hearing this, I was stunned.

He subconsciously turned his head towards Jiang Nuan.

"What's going on?" Jiang Nuan was also confused and asked Lai Zi in a low voice.

“They’re from Jijia Village next door, and they were assigned to Huangjiakou. They probably smelled the meat and wanted to have some soup with them.”

After hearing the explanation, Jiang Nuan immediately nodded to Xie Shi.

Upon learning the answer, Xie immediately smiled and said, "That's fine, but there's no meat in it, just soup, and not much left."

“That’s alright,” Ji Quan grinned. “We just want to taste the meat, a bite is all we need.”

The earthenware pot was emptied, leaving only three bowls of soup.

The group didn't keep the food to themselves; they passed it around, one bite at a time, and everyone took a sip.

"Thank you, sister and aunt," Ji Quan licked his lips before expressing his gratitude. "I'm sorry to have troubled you. My name is Ji Quan, and I'm from Ji Family Village. If you need anything, just let me know. Whether it's running errands or doing chores, I'll never hesitate."

"That's enough," Huang Qing said angrily, pointing at Ji Quan. "Don't act innocent after getting the benefits. Fifth Aunt has us. She doesn't need you to interfere."

He figured it out; Ji Quan just wanted to cling to Aunt Wu and drink soup with her every day.

This time they weren't careful enough; next time, we will never let them succeed so easily.

Many people coveted the soup in the earthenware pot, but it ended up benefiting these outsiders.

Huang Qing felt heartbroken just thinking about it.

“I wasn’t talking to you,” Ji Quan raised an eyebrow. “What are you babbling about?”

As he spoke, he immediately turned his head and smiled ingratiatingly at Jiang Nuan.

"Alright," Jiang Nuan said, somewhat speechless, "Go and rest, you all have to go to work this afternoon."

She was convinced!

Is it really worth all this fuss over a little soup base and a few more bowls of water?

“Alright,” Ji Quan glanced at Huang Qing provocatively, “Auntie, my name is Ji Quan. Please remember that and let me know if you need anything.”

After saying that, he left with the people of Jijia Village, completely satisfied.
