"The fifth-generation eldest grandson of Huangjiakou and the woman of the Qin family are now at odds and are considered enemies. Since their hearts are not aligned and it is difficult for them to be of one mind, we should quickly inform our relatives so that each of them can return to their own paths. After this separation, we can both find peace and happiness!"
The steward wrote three copies and gave them to Huangshan to sign.
However, Huangshan could not accept it.
"I won't sign it, I won't sign it!"
Upon hearing this, the steward frowned. "Why be so stubborn? Even if you don't want to, you can't change anything."
It's because he's too weak.
Having neither money nor power, compared to the behemoth Qingfeng Temple, they were merely ants trying to escape their fate.
“I just don’t want to,” Huang Shan said stubbornly. “As long as I don’t sign, Qin will always be my wife.”
The current Huangshan is not only because of deep affection, but also because of resentment.
Why is it that no one has a good opinion of them as a couple?
From his grandparents and parents to the current manager and even Qin herself, he has always been an honest and upright person. He has never offended anyone, and all he has ever thought about and done is to spend the rest of his life with Qin.
He no longer cared that his wife was defiled, nor that she looked down on him, but this humble and pitiful little wish was still not allowed.
Why should I?!
"Given your weakness," the steward said expressionlessly, "how can the weak resist?"
"Huangshan," Qin said in a cold voice, "if you care about me, then quickly sign the document, let yourself go, and let me go too."
“Cousin,” Huang Xiaosan whispered, “a forced relationship won’t be sweet. Let’s not be stubborn. There are plenty of women in the world, and there’s bound to be one you like. Since your wife is determined to leave, let’s just go along with her.”
Huang Xiaosan sighed inwardly, realizing that his cousin couldn't see the bigger picture.
Now, it's not like he can simply refuse to sign the document if he doesn't want to. Even if his cousin doesn't cooperate, these people can just use a little effort to subdue him.
The brothers could hold out for a while, but it was completely unnecessary.
No matter how deep the cousin's feelings are for his wife, they will not have a good outcome. His grandparents will not accept it, his uncle and aunt will not accept it, and even his brothers will not accept it.
Reputation is of paramount importance. Whether the cousin-in-law was there willingly or unwillingly, the outcome was already predetermined. For the sake of the second branch of the family and the reputation of Huangjiakou, there was absolutely no possibility of her returning to the Huang family.
"No, I'd rather die than sign this," Huang Shan said, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Qin Shi, filled with unyielding despair. "You can only leave if I die!"
He didn't care about any of that. Qin was his wife, and she would be his wife for life, unless he died!
Seeing this, the manager gave a signal, and two thugs immediately stepped forward to subdue Huang Shan.
They roughly pressed him onto the table and took his hand to press his palm print.
Huang Shan refused to yield, his ten fingers clenched tightly in his palms, gritting his teeth as he looked at the expressionless Qin Shi.
He couldn't believe that his wife, whom he had cherished for seven years, could be so heartless.
The thugs ignored Huang Shan's ulterior motives, broke both of his arms, and pressed his palm prints onto his drooping hands.
Huang Shan, whose arms had been broken, instantly bulged with veins in pain, biting his lip without realizing it.
Seeing this, Qin turned her head away, not daring to look at anyone.
She hadn't expected things to turn out this way, but since things had come to this, there was absolutely no turning back. This was the best thing for her husband.
The cruelty of Qingfeng Temple stunned the Huang brothers. After they came to their senses, they immediately rushed forward and began tearing at the two thugs.
"It's no big deal," the steward said, placing the divorce papers with his handprint on them in his pocket. He then beckoned to an old man, "Old Qi, help him set the bones."
"Yes!" The old man came out and quickly set Huang Shan's bones.
After finishing his business, the steward didn't linger and left immediately, eager to take the divorce papers to the government office for filing.
Qin's move was exactly what he wanted. A woman has a husband's family, and no matter how weak the family is, it is still a place for her to stay. It is inevitable that he would have some concerns about how to handle her.
Qin first alienated her family and then divorced her husband, thus cutting off all her escape routes. Like a rootless duckweed, her fate was entirely in her own hands.
Once a bird is trapped in a cage, it has nothing to rely on. No matter how much it hops around, it can't escape its own grasp.
The steward hadn't considered this possibility. Without anyone to rely on, Qin Shi had no worries. Like a wild horse that had broken free of its reins, no one knew where she would end up.
"You may leave," Qin said softly after a pause, "but never come here again."
"She really is a venomous scorpion," Qin said self-deprecatingly. "With a husband like Huang Shan, who is so affectionate and righteous, what woman in the world could resist his deep love? Only I could."
She has her own path to walk. She is as weak as an ant, easily manipulated and trampled upon. She doesn't want to experience that again.
She was determined to climb higher, to climb at all costs, for only by reaching the top could she become herself and the Huang family's support.
He glanced deeply at the dejected Huang Shan, a hint of pity flashing in his eyes, then raised his chin and said, "Huang Shan, you'd better watch yourself!"
"Take care of yourself? You want me to take care of myself?" Huang Shan murmured absentmindedly. "I've given so much, and all I get in return is a 'take care of yourself' from you. Very well, you really are very good."
Despite the pain, Huang Shan stood up from the ground. "Today I, Huang Shan, have been foolish. If this happens again, I, Huang Shan, swear I will commit suicide to atone to my ancestors!"
After saying that, he pushed Huang Laoda aside and stumbled out.
"Cousin, wait a minute!" Huang Xiaosan hurriedly followed. "Come on, let's catch up."
After everyone left, Qin collapsed to the ground and cried in despair.
She pushed away the person who loved her most in the world, and from then on, no one loved her like Huangshan did.
Is it regrettable? Is it painful?
The answer is yes.
But she had no choice but to let go.
After crying for a while, she sorted out what had happened that day and immediately realized something was wrong.
Her plan wasn't perfect, but it wasn't easy to be discovered either. How could the steward be so coincident, coming to find her right after her husband entered?
Unless, they already knew the news.
So who the informant was? It's obvious without even thinking. "The Qin family, very well, I will fight you to the death!"
He betrayed himself time and time again, thinking he had no temper. It seems the previous lessons weren't enough.
Since that's the case, she'll give these people a quick death.
On the other side, before leaving, the steward thought of something: "Gan Luo, deal with these people from the Huang family."
"Manager," Gan Luo asked, puzzled, "how should we handle this? Give him a good scolding or what?"
As he spoke, he made a throat-slitting gesture.
"Let's teach them a lesson so they won't spread rumors," he said, then thought of Huang Shan's stubbornness and worried that the man would keep bothering him. "Let's resolve this once and for all to avoid future trouble."
“Manager,” Gan Luo hesitated, “these brothers are deeply entangled. If they die a violent death, their families will definitely investigate to the end, and what if they find our Qingfeng Temple…”
Gan Luo didn't say the rest, and the manager understood that Qingfeng Temple would be in trouble.
