Li Gui picked up a steamed bun to hide his expression as he looked it over. What was the relationship between these two now?
It seems Mr. Gu spent the night here?
As soon as Li Gui entered the door, he saw Gu Rongqi's clothes from yesterday. He had received a call from an unknown number early in the morning, but the voice on the other end was familiar. The caller gave him an address he had never been to before, something that had never happened to him in all his years as his secretary.
After watching Li Gui finish the steamed buns, Gu Rongqi stood up and thanked Cheng Qicai sincerely, "We'll be going now. Thank you for last night."
"You're welcome, Mr. Gu."
Gu Rongqi's serious attitude made Cheng Qicai feel somewhat apprehensive.
She got up to let Gu Rongqi out, but Gu Rongqi stepped on a fallen breakfast plastic bag, slipped, and stumbled towards Cheng Qicai.
Cheng Qicai was so frightened that she took a step back, but given Gu Rongqi's height, the distance she retreated was still too short, and Gu Rongqi crashed down like a missile.
Cheng Qicai felt her wide-leg pants being pulled down, as if they were being ripped off. She instinctively grabbed the waistband tightly with both hands.
Cheng Qicai breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, she was wearing jeans today, not the kind with an elastic waistband, otherwise her innocence would have been in jeopardy.
Also, why does this kind of unexpected mishap happen to the CEO?!
Fortunately, it wasn't her who died; otherwise, even jumping off a building wouldn't have been enough to alleviate her shame.
Cheng Qicai was almost afraid to look at Gu Rongqi's face as he lay on the ground.
Li Gui was the first to react, stepping forward to help Gu Rongqi up. "Mr. Gu, are you alright?"
"N-nothing." Gu Rongqi released his grip on his trouser leg, propped himself up, turned to look at Cheng Qicai, coughed lightly with his fist, and said in a low voice, "Sorry."
"Ah, it's nothing." Cheng Qicai's gaze fell on Gu Rongqi's slightly red earlobe, lingering for a moment before she came back to her senses and replied.
She bent down to pick up the culprit, the plastic bag, and put it in the trash can, only to find that her outstretched hand was covered in bright red blood, and a large piece of her right middle fingernail was torn off. Only then did she belatedly realize that she was in excruciating pain.
Gu Rongqi also noticed the blood on her hands. He grabbed a tissue from the table and wiped the blood from Cheng Qicai's hands. "Do you have any gauze at home?"
Cheng Qicai shook her head. She had just moved in and hadn't had time to buy any medical supplies yet.
"Li Gui, go to the nearest hospital," Gu Rongqi said, turning to Li Gui.
