Chapter 107 Lantern Festival

The point is to participate. No one can throw something into such a small spout, so it's not your fault.

Cheng Qicai tried to comfort herself.

When it was Gu Rongqi's turn, Cheng Qicai whispered words of encouragement, "Keep it up."

Tall and long-armed Gu Rongqi didn't use any fancy tricks like hers. He simply tossed the arrow forward, and it easily went into the quiver, as simple as drinking water.

His movements were incredibly graceful; after throwing all three balls, they all landed in the pot, eliciting applause from the surrounding crowd.

Cheng Qicai clapped along, almost jumping for joy, "Gu Rongqi, you're amazing! You threw it in with just two quick swipes!"

"Have you practiced this before?"

"No."

"You're really amazing!" she exclaimed.

Gu Rongqi looked at her bright eyes, then turned his gaze away. "No, go get it stamped."

Cheng Qicai excitedly took the card to get stamps, and Gu Rongqi got them all. He also received a small gift, a small plush glutinous rice ball pendant.

"They're quite cute." Cheng Qicai looked at the round glutinous rice balls in his hand.

Gu Rongqi handed it over, saying, "Here you go."

"Don't you want it? Why don't you keep it? It's a souvenir, after all," Cheng Qicai asked.

Gu Rongqi shook his head, "No need, just remember the process."

The next project is paper cutting.

There were paper-cutting tutorials pasted on the table. Cheng Qicai said that these were all a piece of cake. Although she was not good at studying since she was a child, she just liked to tinker with these kinds of things. Cutting these was a piece of cake for her.

After she finished cutting it, she looked around and asked, "What's this? A duck?"

"No, it's a pair of mandarin ducks." Gu Rongqi placed his half next to her paper-cutting.

When the two patterns were placed side by side, Cheng Qicai immediately recognized them; when only one pattern was visible, it was just a bird.

"..." No, why cut mandarin ducks for the Lantern Festival?

She looked at the others' flowers; there were roses, butterflies, fish...

Of all the bad luck, she ended up with a pair of mandarin ducks. If she had known, she would have just cut roses with the aunt next to her.

Uh, this is a little awkward!

"Miss, we're done." Cheng Qicai called over a staff member to stamp the document, trying to cover up the situation.

Seeing that the stamp was on, Cheng Qicai thanked him and turned to leave.

"Miss, you can take the paper cutting with you," a staff member called out to her.

“…Okay.” Cheng Qicai quickly picked up the paper cutouts on the table.

"Are you embarrassed?" Gu Rongqi asked, watching her actions.

I see now, so why ask?

"No!" Cheng Qicai retorted stubbornly. "A piece of paper is easy to tear if you carry it around, and it will just end up in the trash anyway, so it's better not to take it."

Gu Rongqi lowered his eyes and said calmly, "Give it to me. I'll put it in my pocket and give it to you later."

Cheng Qicai handed over the paper.

"Or you should just throw them away, or your clothes will get stained red." She looked at her fingers. "Look, my hands are all stained red, like ten little red sausages, hahaha."

Cheng Qicai spread her hands, and the red paper stained her fingertips with a layer of red, like the pink at the top of a peach.

"Wipe it off?" Gu Rongqi took out a tissue.

Cheng Qicai rubbed her hands a few times, wiping away some of the residue, but her hands became even redder and pinker.

"Stop rubbing," Gu Rongqi stopped her. "We'll wash it with water later."

"Oh." Cheng Qicai threw the paper into the trash can. "Your hands must be stained red too, right?"

Gu Rongqi replied, "I just wiped it."
