The space that Gu Rongqi booked was not a private room, but a spot in the main hall.
While waiting for the food to be served, Gu Rong placed a small bag on the table and opened it. Inside was a roll of gauze and various anti-inflammatory medicines.
It's exactly the same as the prescription the doctor gave me.
Cheng Qicai was surprised that his memory was as good as ever; no wonder he graduated from a prestigious university.
Gu Rongqi looked into Cheng Qicai's dark eyes and asked, "Shall I apply the medicine for you?"
"No need, Mr. Gu, I can do it myself." Cheng Qicai waved her hand.
Are you available?
“Convenient.” Cheng Qicai nodded immediately.
She knew Gu Rongqi meant well, but she really couldn't get used to it!
She's the kind of person who's afraid of teachers when studying, instructors during military training, and bosses at work. She always feels that these people have an inherent sense of oppression about them, and if they say a few words, they'll start lecturing her the next second.
Since being influenced by Ms. Yun, her symptoms have improved a lot, but when facing serious and proper people, she will regain some of her former fear.
Gu Rongqi was the best of the best, with top-notch education, height, and looks. His intelligent face made Cheng Qicai, a poor student, and Xiao Kalami look up to him.
To prove that she was indeed in a good position, she quickly removed the gauze from her hand. Her entire finger was swollen and red, but there was some slight scabbing on the nail bed. Cheng Qicai took out the iodine from the bag and sprayed it on her finger twice. She then opened the cap of the erythromycin ointment with difficulty, but when it came to applying it, her movements became a little hesitant.
The intense gaze from the side made her break out in a cold sweat, a feeling akin to the tension of a teacher standing behind her during an exam.
When I picked up the cotton swabs, several fell to the ground.
If you were to ask her how she feels now, she would say she is filled with regret.
She confessed that she shouldn't have been lazy and not changed her dressing just to sleep a few more minutes, which is why she suffered such torture.
I regret it even more now that I talked to Gu Rongqi that night, otherwise none of this mess would have happened.
Lost in thought, a slender hand took the cotton swab from hers. "Let me do it."
Gu Rongqi gently applied the ointment to her nail bed with a cotton swab; the gentle motion made her feel almost no wiping sensation.
Gu Rongqi's deep voice rang out, "Did I hurt you?"
Cheng Qicai shook her head, her face slightly flushed, "No..."
Gu Rongqi picked up the gauze from the bag again and asked, "You don't mind, do you?"
Cheng Qicai's mind was still blank, and she didn't immediately understand what he was asking. After a couple of seconds of stunned silence, she noticed his gaze was on her fingers and finally snapped out of it, stammering, "I don't mind."
It was difficult to bandage her outstretched hand, so Cheng Qicai had to curl up all her fingers except her middle finger.
Cheng Qicai struck a friendly pose towards Gu Rongqi, but then felt the pose wasn't quite right and wanted to change it.
But Gu Rongqi reminded him, "Don't move."
Cheng Qicai dared not move again. Gu Rongqi carefully wrapped the gauze around and around. An unintentional touch made Cheng Qicai's fingertips itch a little.
"Alright." Gu Rongqi tied a perfect knot.
Seemingly noticing Cheng Qicai's discomfort, Gu Rongqi finished bandaging her finger and then sat down opposite her.
The increased distance made Cheng Qicai feel much more relaxed.
The dishes served were all lightly flavored, clearly intended to take care of Cheng Qicai's wounds.
Cheng Qicai was somewhat flattered that such a minor injury was treated with such seriousness.
She grew up in the countryside, where bumps and bruises were commonplace. Even after moving to the city, Ms. Yun was raised in a more relaxed, hands-off manner.
This led her to be indifferent to these minor injuries, which may explain why she has always been resilient and not prone to illness.
Gu Rongqi's behavior made her feel that he was a nice person, but when he was drunk, he seemed to have been possessed.
"Thank you for today, Mr. Gu. Take care on your journey."
Cheng Qicai closed the car door. Gu Rongqi had to go to other places in the afternoon, so he only dropped her off at the company building and left.
When she got home, she received another call from Gu Rongqi, "Hello, Mr. Gu?"
"I ordered takeout to your house," Gu Rongqi's voice rang out.
Cheng Qicai was a little embarrassed. "President Gu, there's no need to treat me to a meal. My hand is just a minor injury. The company has a cafeteria, which is convenient."
"It's alright, consider this compensation. I've ordered meals for you for a month."
Gu Rongqi's words seemed perfectly reasonable, yet Cheng Qicai found them hard to believe.
1. One month?
Cheng Qicai hung up the phone in a daze.
A short while later, the delivery arrived with a knock on the door. It was a sign for an unfamiliar restaurant. Cheng Qicai looked it up and found it was quite expensive, costing three thousand yuan per person.
She's going to enjoy herself for the next month.
I happily opened my takeout order, put on my favorite anime, and couldn't be better.
It seems that ever since she got involved with the female lead, aside from some bad luck, her life has been getting better and better.
Could it be that the female lead's halo also shone on her?
Halfway through the meal, there was another knock on the door.
Cheng Qicai wondered who would be looking for her at this hour, and opened the door in confusion.
Unexpectedly, Yun Suni was standing at the door, and whatever she said came true.
"Sister?" Cheng Qicai stepped aside to let her in, glanced at the sparse food on the table, smiled awkwardly, and asked, "Have you eaten?"
"No, I've already eaten," Yun Suni politely declined.
"Please sit down." Cheng Qicai pushed a pile of snacks on the sofa to the side, making room for a small space. "There are snacks here, help yourself."
"Thank you for what happened at the bar on Saturday." Yun Suni pursed her lips, her expression sincere, and handed him the small gift bag.
"It's alright, it was mainly Brother Lu who did the work." Cheng Qicai thought for a moment, then asked hesitantly, "Sis, you don't mind if I called Brother Lu over, do you?"
