Chapter 131 Board Games

The group went upstairs.

Cheng Qicai suddenly asked, "Aren't you planning to go back?"

There were many guests coming and going downstairs, most of them relatives of Lu Qi.

However, Cheng Qicai understood. After all, most of their relatives were very busy and their time was measured in seconds. It was normal for them to leave after the engagement ceremony.

Gu Rongqi smiled and replied, "There's nothing to do back home, so I'll stay and have some fun."

"Oh yeah? What, are you trying to kick us out?" Gu Liji said deliberately.

But he mentally reconsidered and realized that since his brother wanted to stay, he would stay too and just watch the show.

Cheng Qicai didn't say anything more after hearing Gu Liji's words.

They went into the board game room, and the group stood in front of the cabinet where the game boxes were placed, looking at them one by one.

"What do you want to play?" Gu Liji asked.

Cheng Qicai said, "I haven't played many of these games. Why don't you guys choose one?"

Gu Rongqi glanced at her and said directly, "You choose. You can choose the ones you've played before, or any of us."

Cheng Qicai scanned the display cases one by one to see if there were any games she was familiar with.

Her gaze finally settled on a game box. Pointing to a black box in the cabinet, she asked, "How about playing this 'D Country Heart Disease'?"

“Okay.” Gu Rongqi took the box out of the cabinet.

"Have you guys played this before?" Cheng Qicai asked again.

Gu Liji nodded: "I've played it."

Gu Rongqi shook his head.

Cheng Qicai saw Gu Rongqi shake his head and said, "Then how about we change to another one? Let's see if there's one that everyone has played before, so we don't have to go through the rules again."

Gu Rongqi replied, "No need, I haven't played any of the games here before."

"Huh?" This was an answer Cheng Qicai hadn't expected.

Gu Liji explained for him, "My brother rarely plays these games; my uncle and aunt are very strict with him."

Cheng Qicai glanced at Gu Rongqi in surprise. Although she had known for a long time that his parents were somewhat domineering, she didn't think he was the kind of person who would be swayed by his parents!

Gu Rongqi glanced at Gu Liji and explained again, "I just didn't like playing these games before."

"Oh, okay!" After Gu Rongqi said that, she felt that Gu Liji's words were true. Surely no one doesn't like playing these games, right?

She changed the subject, asking, "Have you ever played it, Brother Gu?"

Gu Liji smiled confidently, "I'm much better at playing games than you are."

Seeing Gu Liji's state, Cheng Qicai suddenly remembered that he used to be a rich second-generation heir who indulged in eating, drinking, and having fun. Perhaps it was because when she met him, he had already stopped going out to eat, drink, and have fun and was now focused on pursuing Yun Su Ni.

Therefore, Cheng Qicai didn't really have a real feeling about what he used to be like, and only had a vague memory of the time when he was paid off.

So when he mentioned it now, Cheng Qicai remembered what he used to be like.

The three of them sat down at the table. Cheng Qicai opened the box and explained the rules to Gu Rongqi.

"This game is all about who reacts the fastest, look." Cheng Qicai divided the cards into three piles and took out a card from the top and turned it over.

“If you have five different kinds of fruit on these three cards, ring the bell and see who rings it the fastest.”

"There are also piglets, monkeys, and elephants here. If you see a piglet, you can press the bell without thinking. If it's a monkey, you can't press it if there's a lemon on the card, and you can't press it if there's a strawberry on the elephant. If you press the wrong one, we'll each get a card. The one with the most cards at the end wins."

Cheng Qicai looked at Gu Rongqi and asked him, "Do you understand?"

Gu Rong nodded, "Mm."

"Alright then, let's begin."

The three of them each took out a card from their hands and placed it on the table.

In the first round, there were no five identical fruits, nor were there any animals.

No one pressed the bell in a hurry.

In the second round, when Cheng Qicai and Gu Rongqi flipped over the last card, they found five bananas.

Both hands reach for the bell at the same time.

"Ding~" The bell was rung by Gu Liji, and Cheng Qicai was a step behind.

Gu Liji triumphantly collected six cards.

Cheng Qicai started to get nervous, and the cards were turned over again in the next round.

The bell was rung—this time it was Gu Rongqi.

In the following rounds, she won very few times, either because she pressed the button too late or didn't react in time.

Gu Liji started mocking her, "No way, my brother, who's never even played before, plays better than you! You're such a noob, Cheng Qicai."

Hearing Gu Liji's provocative words, she looked at the cards in her hand that were only half of theirs, and said, "I'll change my stance first!"

She felt that it must be because of her incorrect posture that she kept losing!

So this time she decided to stand up and press.

As a new round began, Cheng Qicai pursed her lips and stared intently at the cards.

Three hands reached out at the same time.

"Ding~" The bell was rung by Cheng Qicai.

"Yay..." Cheng Qicai exclaimed happily.

Gu Liji felt as if his outstretched hand had been blocked, and he looked at Gu Rongqi suspiciously.

Am I overthinking things?

But he stole a glance at Gu Rongqi, whose face was slightly turned toward Cheng Qicai, with a slight smile on his lips and gentle eyes.

He glanced at Cheng Qicai's silly, cheerful expression and clicked his tongue inwardly.

Whether it was because changing her posture really helped or not, Cheng Qicai felt that she pressed the bell much faster afterward than before, and her luck also improved.

Next, her hand gradually caught up with Gu Rongqi and the others.

This confirmed Gu Liji's earlier suspicions.

Cheng Qicai shuffled the cards in her hands, now it was her turn to be smug. She slightly raised her head and looked at them, saying, "I told you, it was just that my posture was wrong before. Now I've changed my posture, and now I'm going to win it all back, right?"

Gu Liji looked at her with a cold laugh and let out a soft scoff, "Heh~"

Then his gaze drifted to Gu Rongqi's side, and he wondered, is there any point in playing this game anymore?

All the hands were blocked.

Judging from his expression, Cheng Qicai felt that he was definitely filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred.

She wanted to press her advantage, but her phone rang in her bag.

It was Ms. Yun calling. "Hello, Cheng Qicai, where are you? Come down quickly, your dad and I are about to go back."

"Okay. I'm playing games upstairs, I'll be right down."

Cheng Qicai looked at Gu Rongqi and the others, "Sorry, my mom called me home, so I'll be leaving now."

Gu Rongqi and Gu Liji nodded.

Watching Cheng Qicai close the door and leave, Gu Liji threw the cards in his hand onto the table. "Brother, aren't you going to make your move?"

Gu Rongqi placed his cards on top of Cheng Qicai's deck and said calmly, "Well, she won't agree now, and there are too many obstacles in reality."

"Huh?" Gu Liji didn't understand what Gu Rongqi meant, but it sounded like he was giving up.

He couldn't help but ask, "So you're planning to give up?"

Gu Rongqi didn't say anything, but swept all the cards that Gu Liji had thrown on the table together and put them into the box.
