The two walked out of Cheng Qicai's house. In the elevator, Cheng Qicai asked, "What do you want to eat?"
After playing all day, Cheng Qicai wanted to eat and then quickly go back to lie down.
“I’m not familiar with your surroundings. What would you like to eat?” Gu Rongqi asked.
Cheng Qicai thought for a moment and said, "How about some tofu pudding? It's cold today, so it'll warm us up."
"Okay." Gu Rong nodded.
The two arrived at the tofu shop. Cheng Qicai took the menu, checked off the dishes she wanted, and then handed it to Gu Rongqi.
After handing the selected menu to the owner, Cheng Qicai added, "One bowl has a spicier dipping sauce, and the other doesn't."
"Okay..." Before the boss could finish speaking, Gu Rongqi chimed in, "Mine should be spicier too."
"Both medium spicy?" the owner reminded them, "Our chilies are quite spicy!"
"Yes, it's nothing." Gu Rong nodded.
Cheng Qicai looked at him questioningly, "Don't you not eat spicy food? Is it okay to order medium spicy?"
"I've been trying it recently."
Cheng Qicai remembered that he had eaten spicy food last time they were together, but he didn't seem to be able to handle it. She said worriedly, "How about I change it to mild? If it's not spicy enough, we can ask the owner to add more, okay?"
After thinking for a moment, Gu Rongqi nodded in agreement.
Cheng Qicai immediately called out to the boss and explained her revised requirements.
Soon, the steaming hot pot of tofu pudding arrived, with a small stove underneath emitting flames to ensure the pot was boiling.
The owner placed two bowls of dipping sauce in front of the two women. Cheng Qicai stirred the sauce in her bowl and asked, "Why did you suddenly decide to treat me to dinner today?"
"What? Can't I invite you to dinner if there's nothing wrong?" Gu Rongqi threw the question back at him.
Seeing that the question had returned to her, Cheng Qicai smiled and said, "No, I think you're a big boss, you must be quite busy."
"No, I don't manage all work-related matters; I have other people working under me."
"Hehe...that's good." Cheng Qicai chuckled twice and picked up some tofu pudding from the pot to eat.
The freshly picked-out tofu pudding was very hot, so Cheng Qicai could only blow on it in small sips.
Gu Rongqi watched as her cheeks rose and fell, her lips, moistened with chili oil, were red and attractive.
Gu Rongqi stared at it for a while and then asked, "How was your time with Ren Baiping today?"
Cheng Qicai paused in her blowing motion and simply replied, "It's fine."
The two ate in silence, with no one responding to their question.
"Cough cough cough~" Gu Rongqi across from her suddenly coughed. Cheng Qicai saw him covering his mouth, turning his head to the side and coughing until his face was red.
She stood up, walked to the refrigerator at the store entrance, took out a bottle of milk, twisted off the cap, and handed it over.
Gu Rongqi took the drink and drank a sip; his cough gradually subsided.
"Are you alright?" Cheng Qicai asked.
"It's nothing," Gu Rongqi shook his head.
"How about I give you a non-spicy dipping sauce?" She found her medium-spicy dipping sauce too spicy, so Gu Rongqi, who can't handle spicy food, would probably struggle even with mild spice.
She thought Gu Rongqi had really improved his training.
"No need, I just happened to be choked by the chili peppers," Gu Rongqi waved his hand.
Looking at Gu Rongqi's face, which was flushed red from the spiciness and his lips were swollen, it was clear that he wasn't as relaxed as he sounded.
Gu Rongqi recovered and continued, "I heard from Liji that you and Ren Baiping..."

"Gu Rongqi, do you like me?" Cheng Qicai suddenly blurted out this question in a very urgent and abrupt manner.

A wave of regret washed over her. How could she have been so shameless as to ask that question? What if Gu Rongqi didn't like her? Wouldn't that make her seem presumptuous?

"Yes," he emphasized again, seeing Cheng Qicai's stunned expression, "I like it."
No, why did he just admit it like that? He thought Gu Rongqi would be in an embarrassing situation of being exposed!

Cheng Qicai was in a bit of a daze. Gu Rongqi's few simple words had made her mind churn like tofu in a pot, constantly generating different ideas.
