The two silently approached Cheng Qicai's fishing rod. Her belongings were still there. She lifted the rod and saw that all the bait on it had been eaten.
Cheng Qicai was not surprised. So much time had passed, and all that was left was the bait. It was good that the fishing rod hadn't been washed away.
She cast the fishing hook back to her face, rebaited it, and then cast it back into the sea.
She sat on her small stool, looked up at Gu Rongqi and said, "Why don't you go play somewhere else first? It's boring that we can't catch any fish anytime soon."
How boring it is for the two of them to just stare at each other like that!
"fine."
As soon as Gu Rongqi finished speaking, the float on the fishing rod began to sink.
Seriously? The tables have turned so quickly?
Cheng Qicai picked up the fishing rod and pulled it back, but the first pull didn't work, and the fish swam in the opposite direction, resisting Cheng Qicai's strength.
She loosened the line a little to try and play the fish, but the fish took advantage of the moment she loosened it and swam backward with all its might. Caught off guard, she stumbled and was dragged forward a few steps. Fortunately, a pair of hands reached out from the side and pulled the fishing rod with her.
With Gu Rongqi's help, the fish was pulled up immediately.
Cheng Qicai looked at the fish, which appeared to weigh about five pounds.
She happily let go of the net to get the fish. She went to the fish and was about to take it off the hook, but as soon as Cheng Qicai's hand touched the fish, it suddenly became active and kept jumping around on the beach. Cheng Qicai was really unsure how to handle it.
Seeing this, Gu Rongqi tightened the fishing line.
Now Cheng Qicai had a good chance to get started. She used a net to cover the fish, and Gu Rongqi stepped forward to help her hold the fish. With Gu Rongqi's help, Cheng Qicai successfully removed the fishhook from the fish's mouth.
"Wow, not bad." Cheng Qicai smiled happily as she looked at the fish inside.
There was a lot of sand on the fish, so Cheng Qicai held up the net and planned to rinse them in seawater.
She wasn't worried about jumping out of such a deep net.
But just as Cheng Qicai lowered the net, a large wave suddenly came. Before Cheng Qicai could react, the fish in the net used the wave to leap out of the net with a flourish.
? ? ?
She couldn't stand it when the duck that was about to be eaten flew away.
She instinctively grabbed the net and chased after them into the sea.
"Cheng Qicai!" A hurried shout rang out behind her.
Cheng Qicai ignored it, chased after it for a few steps, raised her hand high and quickly plunged the net into the sea. With a twist of her hand, she hooked the net and a strong blackfish appeared at the bottom.
Before she could even feel happy, she heard a "splash" and a loud splash behind her.
She turned her head in confusion and saw Gu Rongqi lying in the water.
? ? ?
A huge question mark rose above Cheng Qicai's head. She couldn't understand how Gu Rongqi, who was on the shore, had fallen into the water in just a dozen seconds.
She waded through the water and looked at Gu Rongqi, who had already stood up, and asked hesitantly, "Are you alright?"
Hmm... although he doesn't seem to be alright either.
He was now completely soaked, and his hair, which had been combed back, was now hanging down with the seawater, looking like a piece of black seaweed pasted on his face, revealing only the well-defined lower half of his face.
Although it was inappropriate, she felt a strange urge to laugh.
Gu Rongqi swept his hair back with his hand, revealing a handsome face.
Cheng Qicai's smile froze on her face; the funnier it was just moments ago, the stronger the impact it had now.
She stared blankly at Gu Rongqi's face. She could see water droplets sliding down his forehead, brow bone, and eyelashes, then gathering at his chin, falling one drop at a time like beads from a broken string onto the water's surface.
Yes, her lips are rosier than usual.
He just doesn't look well.
Cheng Qicai's gaze shrank slightly, and she lowered her eyes a little.
Well, this is even more indecent to look at.
Gu Rongqi's shirt was originally white, but now that it was wet from the seawater, it became transparent and stuck to his skin, revealing large patches of his flesh.
Moreover... Cheng Qicai is now standing in front of her, and his front part is only partially visible, which is striking to Cheng Qicai's eyes.
Caught off guard, Cheng Qicai was struck by a devastating blow. She spun around like a board and hurriedly walked towards the shore.
A lingering blush remained on her face.
She was extremely embarrassed. Although she had seen this kind of scene before—in the summers of her childhood, it was common to see shirtless men in the village—this was even more humiliating!
But... she just felt that the current situation was indescribable.
"Cheng Qicai!" Seeing Cheng Qicai turn and leave without explanation made Gu Rongqi's already unpleasant mood even worse.
He was so scared when he saw Cheng Qicai walking into the sea that his heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
Now she completely ignores me and coldly turns and walks away.
Even though I was prepared for her evasive attitude, her current attitude still stung my heart.
His expression turned slightly cold. He wiped the seawater off his face, quickly caught up with her, grabbed Cheng Qicai's arm, and made her look at him.
Unexpectedly, her face met Cheng Qicai's, which was flushed red.
Cheng Qicai avoided eye contact, shifting her gaze... Well, she had nowhere else to turn, and it was easy for her to accidentally become oblivious.
"What... are you doing?!" Feeling the pressure on her arm and Gu Rongqi's angry aura, Cheng Qicai asked tremblingly.
Her knuckles turned white as she gripped the net. She had never seen Gu Rongqi so angry before!
