"I've always felt you're too idealistic about feelings. Dating means finding someone who meets your criteria, and you won't date if they don't. Don't I think there's something wrong with your thinking? It's just dating, we're both still so young, we have plenty of time to learn from mistakes..."
Wu Jieyu picked up a chicken strip, chewing as she mumbled, "If this one doesn't work, we'll change it. There are so many people, there are plenty of compatible ones. If this man doesn't work, we'll move on to the next one. You see, I've always done this, and I'm still doing fine..."
Speaking of this, Cheng Qicai sometimes thinks about the number of her boyfriends, and she's afraid that one of her exes might harbor resentment and, like in the news, turn love into hate and kill her.
Cheng Qicai pursed her lips and said, "His family situation is too difficult..."
“Stop, you two haven’t even talked yet, have you? Why are you already thinking about family matters?” Wu Jieyu interrupted her, taking a sip of water. “Why do you care about his family? Wait until his family disagrees before you talk about it. The sooner you talk, the sooner you can enjoy it. You’ll be crying in bed while he’s talking to someone else.”
"Besides, think about it, if you really break up, when you're old and bragging to your grandchildren about how awesome your ex was when you were young, how cool and impressive that would be!"
Cheng Qicai thought about it and felt that it was quite prestigious.
Seeing her smile, Wu Jieyu nudged her shoulder with his own. "So, just give in. I wanted to date someone this amazing, but they weren't interested. Don't be so ungrateful."
Wu Jieyu suddenly gave her a sly smile, "You're a pretty rich woman now, after all. If you really break up with him, you can find a guy who's older than you, and we can live a life where we only talk about money and not love. Wouldn't that be wonderful!"
Cheng Qicai couldn't help but laugh, "Alright, then we'll have to rely on you, Granny Wu, to act as a go-between."
"You're the one who's a pimp!" Wu Jieyu shoved her.
After they finished eating, they went to bed. It had been a long time since they had slept together, and they were both very excited.
They were whispering aimlessly when Cheng Qicai's phone, which was next to her pillow, lit up.
Cheng Qicai reached out and took it, seeing that it was still Gu Rongqi's message: [Have you already rested?]
Cheng Qicai hesitated, wondering how to reply. She needed to chat with Wu Jieyu right now, so simply telling him she was taking a break seemed like the best answer.
Her fingers had just touched the keyboard when her palm went empty; the phone had been snatched away by Wu Jieyu, who was sitting next to her.
Cheng Qicai tried to snatch it back, but Wu Jieyu blocked her with her arm, saying, "I just want to take a look. I'm getting impatient with you dawdling for so long."
"Give it to me!" Cheng Qicai said to her.
"I showed you so much about me and my boyfriend before, what's wrong with me looking at yours now?" Wu Jieyu shouted, resorting to moral blackmail. "Did you two talk about something shameful? Is that why you're afraid I'll see it?"
Cheng Qicai thought for a moment; she and Gu Rongqi were just having a normal conversation.
It wasn't as sordid as Wu Jieyu imagined.
Seeing Wu Jieyu trying so hard to guard against her, Cheng Qicai said helplessly, "See?"
Wu Jieyu glanced triumphantly at their chat and said, "Wow, your reply was way too cold. And he still didn't give up. Why can't I meet such a good man?"
Wu Jieyu complained, then quickly typed a line of text and sent it.
Cheng Qicai was startled and tried to snatch her phone from her hand, but Wu Jieyu had anticipated this and immediately hid the phone behind her back.
Cheng Qicai reached for the phone behind her back, but she was completely guarded.
The two were panting heavily as they fought over the phone until the screen lit up again, at which point Cheng Qicai finally snatched the phone from Wu Jieyu's hand.
She saw Wu Jieyu's message: [I'm at a university in City B. Come find me.]
Gu Rongqi: [Okay.]
Upon seeing the message, Cheng Qicai frantically shouted "Wu Jieyu!" and then typed out "[My friend just sent this.]" and sent it over.
Gu Rongqi: [I know.]
Looking at these three words, Cheng Qicai didn't understand what he meant.
Wu Jieyu, who was standing next to him, chimed in, "Hey, he said he knew it was a friend who posted it, but he'll still come over. You should reply with 'Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!'"
Cheng Qicai rolled her eyes at her and shoved her, "Get lost!"
Wu Jieyu snorted coldly. Cheng Qicai really doesn't know how to appreciate kindness!
