Cheng Qicai took her phone out of her bag and saw that it was Ms. Yun calling. She answered the phone and put it to her ear, "Hello, Mom?"
Ms. Yun asked, "What are you doing?"
"I have some business to attend to outside," Cheng Qicai said.
"What's up? Is it convenient for you?"
Cheng Qicai glanced at Gu Rongqi, smiled apologetically at him, and then walked a short distance away. Only after confirming that Gu Rongqi couldn't hear her did she stop.
"It's convenient, you tell me."
"I just wanted to ask you, how's the blind date your sister introduced you to going?"
Cheng Qicai replied calmly, "It's fine, it's good."
Hearing Cheng Qicai's answer, Ms. Yun's tone softened with a smile, "That's good. Have a good talk with them this time! Don't let it fall through like before. Think about it, your sister is the same age as you, and her child is already so big..."
Cheng Qicai felt a headache coming on when she heard that Ms. Yun was about to launch into a long speech. She interrupted helplessly, "I know, Mom! People are waiting!"
Ms. Yun understood what she meant and said with a smile, "Okay, okay, then I won't bother you any longer."
After hanging up the phone, Cheng Qicai couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
If Ms. Yun knew about the blind date, would she still be as enthusiastic as she is now?
I'm afraid we'll have to skin her alive, won't we?
She shook her head to shake off the terrifying thought, glanced at Gu Rongqi not far away, and then walked towards him.
Before Cheng Qicai could say anything, Gu Rongqi asked, "Was it your mother asking you about your blind date?"
Cheng Qicai nodded.
But Gu Rongqi didn't continue speaking, and Cheng Qicai could rarely see that Gu Rongqi's expression was somewhat hesitant.
She asked the question Gu Rongqi wanted to ask, "You want to know how I answered my mother?"
Gu Rong paused for a moment, then nodded slightly. "Mm."
His current expression no longer carried the air of someone who was always confident of victory, which instead intrigued Cheng Qicai.
She admired it secretly for a while before slowly saying, "My answer was just like that."
Cheng Qicai could see his trembling eyelashes, like a paper airplane swaying in the last few seconds of its flight, finally succumbing to the feeling of weightlessness and falling straight down.
In the sunlight, the outline of his profile glowed almost transparently, and his whole appearance seemed somewhat broken.
Cheng Qicai pretended not to notice his dejected appearance, and waited for a while to make sure that Gu Rongqi was not responding to her again.
She had set a trap, and pretending to be very eager to confide, she asked, "Don't you want to know what I mean by 'what I mean'?"
Gu Rongqi paused for a moment, then shook his head slightly.
In the past, he would have been able to see through Cheng Qicai's little tricks, but after hearing Cheng Qicai's answer, his mind was in a mess, and he couldn't notice that something was wrong with Cheng Qicai.
Rather than hear answers he didn't want to hear, Gu Rongqi preferred to remain ignorant.
He kept his eyes downcast, staring at the grass on the ground, his thumb unconsciously rubbing the pad of his index finger.
Cheng Qicai had been deliberately observing Gu Rongqi's expression. When she saw the small gestures in his hands, she felt a sense of déjà vu. She recalled the scenes she had seen before and combined them with the current situation. She seemed to vaguely understand what this meant.
Then, Cheng Qicai suddenly called his name in a very serious tone, "Gu Rongqi..."
Gu Rongqi turned his head and looked in her direction.
The next second, his vision went dark, and his lips were touched by the warmth of another person, which vanished in an instant.
The sun was shining brightly, and a gentle breeze was blowing. Strands of her hair, which she had left behind, lingered and brushed against his face, causing a slight tickle.
Light as an illusion.
After kissing him, Cheng Qicai stepped back and looked at Gu Rongqi, who was standing there dumbfounded, and said with a smile, "That's exactly what I said."
Although she spoke in a relaxed tone, her throat was actually dry from nervousness, and her palms were constantly sweating.
Gu Rongqi touched his lips and asked in a hoarse voice, "What do you mean by this?"
Cheng Qicai was taken aback by the question, but seeing Gu Rongqi's blank and unintelligent expression, her nervousness vanished completely.
Wow!!! This is rare!!!
She stared into Gu Rongqi's eyes, her eyes crinkling with laughter, and said in a light, deliberate tone, "This is my answer, boyfriend."
She watched as Gu Rongqi's pupils constricted, his rubbing motion stopped, and his knuckles turned white as he clenched his fist.
"Do we need to confirm again?" Cheng Qicai tilted her head and looked at Gu Rongqi.
She harbored a mischievous desire for revenge, because last time when she asked him if he liked her, he had effortlessly caught her off guard and led her by the nose.
So she was well prepared this time.
Now that she had finally seen Gu Rongqi like this, she was so proud that she felt like she could fly.
Before Gu Rongqi could respond, Cheng Qicai leaned forward and kissed his lips again, this time lingering for a few seconds.
Just as her lips were about to leave his, a pair of strong arms pulled her waist towards him with such force that Cheng Qicai felt a pain in her waist.
The next second, their lips met, their breaths mingling.
From unfamiliar to proficient.
The shadows of the two people standing on the grass blended together, and two foxtail grasses on the ground swayed in the breeze, intertwining and separating.
The two stopped when they felt a gaze on them, and saw that Huang Jindou was squatting on the ground looking at them.
Cheng Qicai blushed slightly and tried to pull herself out of Gu Rongqi's arms.
But the shackles around her waist remained. When Cheng Qicai looked up, she met Gu Rongqi's eyes, which were filled with shimmering light.
