Chapter 244 Bookmark

Gu Rongqi's reading voice was melodious, magnetic, and gentle, like that of a radio host.

But the content was all unfamiliar to Cheng Qicai, and after listening for a while, she became drowsy.

Gu Rongqi's image gradually overlapped with that of Cheng Qicai, the Mediterranean history teacher on the junior high school podium, and her eyes began to droop involuntarily.

But with that flash of red still lingering in her mind, she struggled to open her eyes a crack. "Gu Rongqi, why does that bookmark of yours look so familiar?"

"This one?" Gu Rongqi picked up the bookmark from the bedside table and showed it to Cheng Qicai. "This is the first lottery ticket we ever scratched."

"Oh, you still kept it?" Cheng Qicai was wide awake. She laughed and said, "I thought you threw it away a long time ago."

She didn't expect that Gu Rongqi still kept it, still using it as a bookmark.

Wouldn't that mean he could see it every night before he went to sleep?

Thinking of this, she couldn't help but smile.

She felt like she was living in a honey pot every day since she started dating Gu Rongqi.

She couldn't help but ask, "Why are you still using it as a bookmark?"

"Didn't you say you wanted to keep it as a souvenir, that it's a symbol of good luck? You have to touch and see luck often to feel it."

The warm yellow light made his face almost blurry, but Cheng Qicai could clearly draw the outline in her mind.

Gu Rongqi's speech slowed down, and his gaze towards her became very deep. "And I really did meet someone I liked, and we fell in love. Just like you said back then, I became lucky."

Cheng Qicai's sweet smile was undisguised.

Her eyes lit up as she looked at Gu Rongqi in the video. "Are your lips made of sugar? How can you speak so sweetly?"

Gu Rongqi looked into her eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing, and the book in his hand crumpled in his hand.

He said in a hoarse voice, "You can try it tomorrow."

Cheng Qicai's expression instantly changed from infatuation to a question mark face, "Wow, are you being a pervert in the middle of the night?!"

She still misses Gu Rongqi from when they first met; he was distant and mysterious.

"Saying this to your girlfriend shouldn't be considered being a pervert," Gu Rongqi said with a smile.

Cheng Qicai coughed lightly to cover up the laughter in her throat.

This seems to be the first time I've heard the word "girlfriend" from Gu Rongqi.

Cheng Qicai smiled broadly, "I'm going to sleep, I'm not going to talk to you anymore."

She was so engrossed in the conversation that she couldn't even feel sleepy anymore. If they kept talking like this, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to sleep at all that night.

Okay, good night.

"Good night."

Cheng Qicai put down her phone, but the two people on the video call didn't hang up, each doing their own thing.

Cheng Qicai drifted off to sleep amidst the occasional rustling of pages turning across the page opposite her.

The next day, Gu Rongqi arrived early in the morning, bringing with him golden beans.

Cheng Qicai stroked it and looked at Gu Rongqi, "Why did you bring it here?"

"Didn't you say you missed it? So I brought it here for you to see." Gu Rongqi untied the leash from its body.

"I cooked some porridge, do you want some?" Cheng Qicai asked.

"good."

Cheng Qicai served each of them a bowl. Looking at the golden beans at her feet, Cheng Qicai found a plate she didn't use often and served them a plate as well.

There wasn't much food served; it was mainly just for the dog to taste. Otherwise, it would look too pitiful if the two of them were eating while the dog just watched.

I waited until the porridge cooled down a bit before putting it on the ground for it.

Cheng Qicai placed the wild mushroom sauce made by Ms. Yun in front of Gu Rongqi, "Try it, this is made from wild mushrooms that my grandfather found in the mountains, it's super delicious!"

Gu Rongqi picked up a little bit and put it in his mouth. "It's delicious, very fresh."

"Right, my grandpa goes to find some around this time every year and sends them to us. We usually keep them for our own consumption."

Gu Rongqi's smile deepened. "Thank you."

The two people and the dog were eating their breakfast in the room, with Gu Rongqi and Cheng Qicai's voices occasionally drifting through the air.

Quiet and peaceful.

After finishing her meal, Cheng Qicai took out a jigsaw puzzle she had bought before. "When I was going through my house yesterday, I suddenly found that I had a jigsaw puzzle that I hadn't finished."

Cheng Qicai cleared everything off the coffee table, placed a mat on it, and then emptied the puzzle pieces from the box.

She bought the 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle with a rather complex design. She apparently bought it to kill time, but then she had to work overtime and forgot about it.

The puzzle pieces weren't numbered, which made them even more difficult to complete.

Cheng Qicai placed the instruction manual between the two of them so that they could easily read it.

“You put together one corner, I’ll put together one corner, and then we’ll put it all together,” Cheng Qicai said. “I wonder if we can finish putting it together today?”

"It should be possible."

The two talked in hushed tones from time to time as they searched through a pile of puzzle pieces.

When Cheng Qicai got tired of playing, she stood up and played with Huang Jindou for a while.

Or, seeing Gu Rongqi working so diligently, you might impulsively tease him.

Although she knew she would eventually be punished as she deserved, she was too tired of trying and couldn't help herself.

She had to admit that she still had a wicked streak in her heart.

Gu Rongqi's serious demeanor really stirred up my destructive urge.

Golden Bean lay down beside the two of them, occasionally raising its head to look at them, watching them intertwine intimately and then separate. When it saw that everything was alright, it lay down again, tapping the ground with its tail.

It will only come closer when they call its name.

Although it was pushed away by its owner every time, it would still go when its name was called the next time.
