Chapter 25 Introduction

No, she had to say something to salvage her image.

"President Gu, have you finished your work?" As soon as she opened her mouth, Cheng Qicai knew she had said the wrong thing again.

I really want to slap myself twice. Can't I even speak properly today?

"No, I left as soon as Wang Hai came back."

Gu Rongqi looked at Cheng Qicai, who had turned into a quail, and found it somewhat amusing. He didn't seem so scary after all.

Even though I am a leader, I shouldn't get angry over a couple of jokes from an employee.

Cheng Qicai hurriedly changed the subject again, "President Gu, my hand is almost healed, so I don't need to deliver food anymore."

"Okay, I'll have Li Gui talk to the restaurant about it."

As the two remained silent, Cheng Qicai's phone rang, and the caller ID clearly displayed the name "Ms. Yun".

Cheng Qicai answered the phone, "Hello, Mom?"

"Seven Colors, come to Good Luck Tea House quickly, it's urgent."

"What's the emergency?"

Before Ms. Yun could answer, a shout came from the telephone receiver.

"Beixiu!!!"

"Mom, what's wrong..."

Hearing someone call Ms. Yun's name in a panicked voice, Cheng Qicai's heart skipped a beat. By the time she pressed for details, she found that the call had already been disconnected.

Cheng Qicai anxiously dialed back, but the phone only gave a mechanical reply: "The number you dialed is currently switched off..."

She stood up, looking worried. "Mr. Gu, I have to go now."

"Shall I take you there?"

"No need, I'll be there in no time." Cheng Qicai said, and hurriedly ran out.

By the time Gu Rongqi drives the car out of the parking lot, she might have already arrived.

As Gu Rongqi watched Cheng Qicai's departing figure disappear, he noticed that the duck toy on the table had not been taken away.

A man in a dark blue suit ran over, holding a stack of documents. "Mr. Gu, I've got the documents."

"Okay, let's go." Gu Rong stood up, hesitated for a long time, but still took the duck with him and left.

Wang Hai stared curiously at the duck in Gu Rongqi's hand.

I didn't expect Mr. Gu to like this kind of thing. However, this is the first time I've seen him go into a burger shop like this.

It's worth noting that his diet is planned by a professional nutritionist, and he never touches fast food.

Cheng Qicai ran wildly, her mind filled with all sorts of bad endings.

Good Luck Tea House.

She asked the proprietress at the door, panting, "Boss, where's my mother? Her name is Yun Beixiu."

"You mean Lao Yun? In VIP room number three."

Cheng Qicai opened the door to VIP room number three and shouted at the top of her lungs, "Mom!"

"Hey, what are you yelling about? You scared the crap out of my cards!" Ms. Yun said without turning her head, casually tossing down a card, "Two of a kind!"

Cheng Qicai was dumbfounded. She looked Ms. Yun up and down but couldn't find any injuries. "Mom, are you alright?"

"What are you saying, child? What could possibly be wrong with me?"

"Then why is your phone off?"

"You mean the cell phone..." Ms. Yun pulled out a six-bamboo note and tossed it out, "Six-bamboo."

It was obvious that Ms. Yun had no interest in answering Cheng Qicai's question compared to playing mahjong.

"Fire! Win!" an auntie across from Ms. Yun shouted excitedly, "Give me the money! Give me the money!"

Ms. Yun reluctantly handed over the money, finally managing to give Cheng Qicai a look that was, of course, one of reproach.

"Look at you, you made me lose the game as soon as you came in." Then he turned to the aunt playing cards and said, "I'm not playing anymore, I'm not playing anymore."

The other women were still trying to persuade Ms. Yun to continue, but seeing her resolute attitude, they reluctantly gave up and broke up the group, leaving only one woman behind.

"Seven Colors, this is your Aunt Zhang," Ms. Yun introduced the aunt.

Cheng Qicai obediently called out, "Aunt Zhang!"

"Oh, I heard your Qicai is working at a big company now! That's great, and she's pretty too." Aunt Zhang praised her with a smile. "And she's so filial; she came running over as soon as she noticed your phone was off."

Cheng Qicai was secretly on guard; those who could play with her mother were usually not easy to deal with.

Not to mention his dagger-like smile.

Ms. Yun: "No, our Qicai is indeed an obedient and honest child, which makes things much easier for us."

Something's not right, something's really not right. Normally, it's good enough if Ms. Yun doesn't scold her, so why is she praising her today?

Aunt Zhang took her hand and patted it lightly twice: "Qicai, I know a suitable young man who works at a financial company. He's good-looking and owns a house in City A, but he doesn't have a car yet. It would be easy for him to buy one. How about I introduce you two?"

"Heh, as expected, nothing good ever comes of it. Graduation blind dates, an inescapable law," Cheng Qicai sighed.

She still wore a polite smile: "Auntie, I think I'm still young, so there's no rush."

"Oh dear, young people can pick and choose first, but older people don't have much to choose from. Let me show you what that young man looks like." Aunt Zhang took out her phone and opened the other person's photo.

Just as Cheng Qicai was about to say something, Ms. Yun moved closer to her, secretly elbowed her, took Aunt Zhang's phone, and forcibly placed it in front of her, saying, "Oh dear, this young man is indeed quite good-looking, take a look."

Cheng Qicai couldn't escape Ms. Yun's veiled threat and glanced at her helplessly.

Hmm~

Ms. Yun wasn't lying; she really is quite good, above average for an ordinary person, and top-tier in blind dating.

Ms. Yun immediately said, "Old Zhang, push the Moon over here and let the two of them chat first."

Under the intense gazes of the two men, Cheng Qicai added their moon symbol.

"So, how was the introduction? Was it good?"

When it was just the two of them, Ms. Yun raised an eyebrow at her smugly.

Cheng Qicai gave a couple of perfunctory "uh-huhs" and then asked about the previous topic: "Why was your phone off? I heard someone calling your name on the phone. Also, is this the urgent matter you mentioned?"

"I was afraid you wouldn't come if I told you about the blind date." Ms. Yun said with a hint of resentment, "The mahjong playing in the teahouse was too loud, so I came out to call you. A kid was kicking a ball over my side, and the teahouse owner saw it and called out to me. My phone fell to the ground and broke."

"I'm warning you, Cheng Qicai, my phone broke because of you, and I lost the game. You'd better talk to them properly. If I find out you're not taking it seriously, you'll be in trouble."

Mom, can you stop trying to pin all the blame on me?

Also, I left my favorite burgers and snacks to come find you.

I haven't eaten about a third of that pile of food yet.

My poor duck was left abandoned on the plate, I wonder who benefited from it.

She didn't think Gu Rongqi would take it; he was just out to work, and it wouldn't be appropriate for him to take it.
