Cheng Qicai really liked Gu Rongqi's sly smile, especially because of her.
She could feel that Gu Rongqi truly loved her, not in a vague or ethereal way, but with genuine and sincere love.
She couldn't resist hooking her little finger around his and gently swaying it a few times, as if she were flirting with him.
Gu Rongqi noticed her little gesture and his heart softened.
His fingertips bent slightly, making their intertwined fingers even closer.
Yun Rucheng and Mr. Cheng were turning the skewers in front of the barbecue grill. The oil from the skewers dripped onto the charcoal fire, instantly releasing a smoky aroma.
Cheng Qicai didn't notice it until she smelled it, but once she did, her mouth watered.
Mr. Cheng sprinkled chili powder on the skewers, turned them over twice, and placed them on the grill. "Okay, here you go."
Cheng Qicai placed the chicken wings on the table, immediately picked up a skewer of chicken wings and started eating, while also handing a few skewers to Gu Rongqi. "These chili peppers aren't spicy, they're just right for you."
Mr. Cheng asked with a smile, "Who won today?"
“Bei Xiu won,” Song Luo continued, “Gu Rongqi was the only one who lost money.”
Mr. Cheng laughed and said, "Haha, then Rongqi should go easy on you guys."
Ms. Yun smiled and recalled, "It should be..."
Song Luo sighed, "Just like when Lu Qi played mahjong with us before, he liked to let us win the tiles."
Yun Rucheng: "Lu Qi and Rong Qi are about the same intelligence level. You two can sit at the same table next time."
They couldn't eat as fast as they grilled, so Gu Rongqi went to help after he finished eating.
Mr. Cheng called to her, "By the way, Qicai, go and bring the watermelon from the water."
Cheng Qicai took the watermelon, which had been soaking in the icy river, back and cut it open.
She ate a piece; it was cool and refreshing, instantly relieving the greasiness of the grilled skewers.
Cheng Qicai picked up a petal and held it to Gu Rongqi's lips, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, Master Gu."
"It's not hard work." Gu Rongqi took a bite from her hand.
"Could you grill me a chicken leg?"
Gu Rongqi took a chicken leg out of the bag.
Before long, the three of them baked a lot more, enough for several people to eat.
Yun Rucheng and Mr. Cheng hadn't eaten much yet when Mr. Cheng greeted Gu Rongqi, "Rongqi, we'll go eat first."
“Okay,” Gu Rong nodded. All he had on hand was the chicken leg he had grilled for Cheng Qicai.
Song Luo walked over and showed the two the photos she had taken. "Qicai, do you think the photos I took of you are pretty?"
"It looks great, thank you, Auntie."
Song Luo happened to capture the scene between the two of them. Amidst the swirling smoke, Gu Rongqi was grilling chicken legs while eating the watermelon in Cheng Qicai's hand. Cheng Qicai was quietly watching him, her hand still under the watermelon.
A very lifelike photo.
Moreover, the atmosphere of the photo she took is special; the two look very sweet together.
"I also think this photo has the best feel to it. I'll send it to my friends." Song Luo looked at it for a while before remembering to say, "By the way, isn't Rong Qi in the group chat yet?"
Cheng Qicai shook her head, "No, I'll pull him later."
Cheng Qicai threw away the watermelon rind that Gu Rongqi had left over, and then opened her phone to invite Gu Rongqi to the group chat.
"I'm inviting you. Please accept my invitation later."
"My phone is in this pocket, take it out and help me get permission."
Gu Rongqi flipped the chicken leg over, slightly turned his body, and revealed the pocket containing the cell phone.
Cheng Qicai looked at the black phone in his pocket, hesitated for two seconds, and then reached out and pulled the phone out.
"The password is..."
Cheng Qicai unlocked his phone with a password. When she saw her own picture on the screen, she felt a little embarrassed, even though the photo was quite nice.
This photo shows her sleeping in her car, but she can't remember when Gu Rongqi took it.
"When did you take this photo?" Cheng Qicai asked, handing the interface to him.
"This photo was taken on the day you opened your business."
After Gu Rongqi mentioned it, Cheng Qicai immediately remembered.
On the day she pretended to be asleep, Gu Rongqi secretly took a picture of her, and she said that she hadn't been woken up.
She smiled, tapped his Moon account, and accepted the group chat request. "Aren't you afraid I'll use my phone password to do bad things?"
Gu Rongqi glanced at her. "What do you want to do?"
"For example, finding secrets on your phone, or transferring all the money to me."
"My phone has no secrets, you can take a look. If you want money, I can tell you the password, yes."
Cheng Qicai was shocked that Gu Rongqi would so casually tell her the password. "What the hell? Aren't you afraid I'll transfer all your money and leave you penniless?!"
Gu Rongqi thought for a moment, "Don't worry, I can sue you to get it back."
Cheng Qicai stared wide-eyed in disbelief, poking his arm repeatedly with her index finger. "No, how could you be so realistic?"
He used to say sweet nothings like that!
“What I mean is you can slowly deceive me,” Gu Rongqi said, sprinkling the roasted chicken leg with her favorite level of chili. “You can slowly coax me into giving you my property, so I won’t be able to get it back.”
Oh! So that's where she was waiting!
It seems she underestimated Gu Rongqi's tactics.
"Forget it, I don't have that kind of ability." Cheng Qicai took the chicken leg that Gu Rongqi handed her; she found it troublesome just thinking about it.
And then there's the idea of a gentle, persistent approach to coaxing—he's dreaming! She's clearly focusing on authenticity!
