When Cheng Qicai woke up early the next morning, she groggily opened her eyes and saw Gu Rongqi, dressed neatly, come in to get his phone. She turned over to the side where Gu Rongqi had been sleeping and asked in a daze, "Why didn't you wake me up?"
"It's okay, you can rest at home today, I'll go to the hospital by myself."
He bent down and kissed her cheek.
“Let’s go together. Your dad specifically asked for the two of us to leave last.” Cheng Qicai had just woken up and was a little drowsy. She loosely draped her right arm over Gu Rongqi’s shoulder. “We’re comrades now. How can I desert my post? That would be too disloyal.”
"You don't need to go over there and suffer from my dad's attitude."
Gu Rongqi rubbed the arm on his shoulder, and the delicate, smooth skin made him somewhat addicted.
"What are you saying? You're the one who's been getting the short end of the stick all along." Gu Lubo completely ignored her, his dissatisfaction, his orders, and his targeting were all directed at Gu Rongqi.
Gu Lubo neither hits nor scolds her, so as long as she has a thick skin, it doesn't matter.
Gu Rongqi gently touched his arm, sending a strange, inexplicable tremor through him.
Cheng Qicai quickly withdrew her arm and pulled up the sleeves of her pajamas; the touch was giving her goosebumps.
Gu Rongqi sat up on the bed. "Are you really going?"
"real."
Cheng Qicai gave an affirmative answer, then grabbed his clothes around his waist and pulled herself out of the blanket.
On a whim, she scratched the ticklish spot on his waist with her finger.
Seeing the laughter escape his throat and his body tremble slightly, Cheng Qicai triumphantly rolled over and got out of bed on her side.
I put on my slippers and ran to the bathroom.
Hehe, who would have thought that even a domineering CEO has a ticklish spot! This has allowed her to find Gu Rongqi's most obvious weakness.
After Cheng Qicai finished washing up, she walked out of the bathroom. Before she could even be on guard, she was pulled into a warm and firm embrace.
It gave her a huge fright.
Just as Cheng Qicai looked up to speak, her lips were captured by someone's, the scent of jasmine and mint mingling between them.
Cheng Qicai tried to tickle Gu Rongqi again, but her hand was caught in a hot hand halfway through, and she was pulled around the waist and turned over, her back against the wall.
His hands were raised high above his head, and he was firmly bound.
Cheng Qicai's current state is somewhat similar to the white goose she used to hang at the foot of her bed and vent her anger on.
Her slightly panting breath and the pounding of her heart were clearly audible in the room.
"You've turned bad, why are you resorting to sneak attacks?" Cheng Qicai's breathing was a little unsteady. When she was in the bathroom, she clearly heard Gu Rongqi walk away to the living room.
A smile spread across Gu Rongqi's face, his eyes filled with accusation: "Who started it first?"
Cheng Qicai choked. Although she had been defeated time and time again, her hand just couldn't help being mischievous, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She pushed Gu Rongqi away, changed the subject, and showed him the red marks on her wrist, saying, "You pinched my hand so hard it hurts."
"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention just now." Gu Rongqi took her hand and rubbed it.
She pulled her hand away and said coldly, "What's the use of apologizing? I need to get ready and go to the hospital right now so your dad can start torturing you sooner."
Gu Rongqi chuckled softly, took a step back, and let Cheng Qicai leave.
Of course, Cheng Qicai's wish was not fulfilled, because as soon as they entered the ward, they heard Gu Lubo's angry voice.
The room was closed, so you couldn't see what was going on inside, but it sounded like someone was being reprimanded.
"Who's that? They sound like they've been scolded terribly." Cheng Qicai couldn't help but wonder as she listened to Gu Lubo's continuous output.
Wu Wenwang replied, "It's Liji, he seems to have come to report."
Cheng Qicai suddenly realized that it was that unlucky guy, Gu Liji.
She hadn't seen Gu Liji since the last video call, and he hadn't updated his WeChat Moments much either.
So this is what life is like.
That's so tragic.
Cheng Qicai felt a mixture of schadenfreude and sympathy. "It's a good thing you're not working at Ouqi anymore, otherwise, how could you possibly endure being scolded like that every day?"
“I’m rarely scolded, almost never.” Gu Rongqi glanced at the door of the ward.
"...Wow, you're so amazing!" Cheng Qicai gave a perfunctory compliment. For someone like her who kept making small mistakes, being scolded was a regular occurrence.
Gu Rongqi looked like a top student showing off in front of a mediocre student like her, who had scored 99 on a test.
They seem hateful; they don't understand the pain of academically challenged students at all.
"Let's go and save Brother Gu. Uncle's voice sounds angrier and angrier." Perhaps it was because of the shared plight of the underachiever, but Cheng Qicai couldn't help but shed another tear of sympathy for him.
"Dad." Gu Rongqi stepped forward and knocked on the door, but the voices inside stopped abruptly.
"Come in." Guruber's voice returned to normal.
"Uncle," Cheng Qicai greeted, but her gaze was fixed on Gu Liji standing by the bed.
It's been so long since I've seen Gu Liji. He looks a bit thinner. It seems he's under a lot of pressure.
When Gu Lubo saw the two of them, his tone softened. He looked at the documents in front of him and said, "Liji, this survey was done quite well. You just changed the minor issues I mentioned, and that's about it. This time it's an improvement over the last one."
"good."
Gu Liji inwardly groaned. If the minor issue Gu Lubo mentioned hadn't involved changing most of the data in the document, he might have genuinely agreed.
And how come he's suddenly being praised after being so harshly criticized earlier?
That's a really fast change of attitude.
"Right, change it here, and let me see it when it's done."
"Huh?" Gu Liji immediately suppressed his reluctance after receiving Gu Lubo's oppressive gaze. "Okay, antique, I'll go outside to make the changes."
"Um."
"Bring it over to me in two hours."
"Huh?" Gu Liji exclaimed in surprise again, and feeling Gu Lubo's oppressive gaze, his momentum deflated. "Okay."
He walked out with his computer, looking dejected, and his eyes met Cheng Qicai's along the way.
The two kindred spirits instantly saw a mutual appreciation in each other's eyes.
Cheng Qicai sat in the ward for a while, then quietly slipped out and went to the room where Gu Liji was changing the documents.
