Chapter 285 Diamond Ring

Gu Rongqi's room has a large balcony. Now that the weather is cold, Cheng Qicai likes to lie on the lounge chair outside and bask in the sun.

She lived a leisurely and comfortable life.

Sometimes Gu Rongqi would stay here with her; she would be playing on her phone while he read a book beside her.

But not today. Gu Rongqi was called to Gu Lubo's place early in the morning.

Although Gu Lubo did not force Gu Rongqi to go to work, he would occasionally call him over.

It wasn't the previous kind of difficult talk; it was a serious discussion.

She was happily playing a game while lying in the rocking chair when a dark shadow appeared in front of her.

Gu Rongqi looked at her bare feet and asked, "Why aren't you wearing socks?"

"It's sunny and not cold at all." Cheng Qicai casually swung her legs and picked up a strawberry from the table and ate it.

Gu Rongqi didn't say anything, went into the room, took her socks, and held her ankle to put them on for her.

"No, I can do it myself." Cheng Qicai sat up abruptly and pulled her feet back.

That's really not true...

"Don't move." Gu Rongqi put the sock on her other foot.

Cheng Qicai watched Gu Rongqi kneeling down to put socks on her. His hair shone brightly in the sunlight, but she couldn't see his expression.

But she knew his expression must be gentle.

Perhaps the sunlight was too dazzling, and Cheng Qicai was momentarily distracted.

Her blood was flowing, warmed by the sun; everything was so beautiful that her body couldn't help but tremble.

She opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by Gu Rongqi's "Okay."

Cheng Qicai regained her composure, turned her head to pick up the strawberries from the plate, concealing the emotions in her eyes. By the time she fed the strawberries to Gu Rongqi's lips, all her previous thoughts had been hidden.

She looked at Gu Rongqi with a grin, "How thoughtful of you! Here's a reward for you: eat the reddest and biggest strawberry."

Gu Rongqi looked at her smiling face, then lowered his head and ate the strawberry from Cheng Qicai's hand.

Why are you back so early today?

"The matter was resolved last night."

"Didn't your uncle urge you to go back to work?"

"No rush, I have some things to take care of." He didn't explain.

Saying this is no different than not saying it at all.

"What's the matter?"

Aside from accompanying her and going to Gu Lubo's place, Gu Rongqi didn't seem to be handling anything else.

"What, you don't want to see me anymore?" Gu Rongqi sat down next to her.

"No! I just think my uncles must be worried." Cheng Qicai was thinking about other things and didn't notice Gu Rongqi's change of topic.

"No, they understand."

"Oh, oh." Cheng Qicai nodded absentmindedly.

When Gu Rongqi went to Gu Lubo's place again, she felt bored, so she decided to go back to her old home there and move some of her trinkets over.

Wang Ben led her to the garage, and Cheng Qicai looked at all the luxury cars and felt that choosing any of them would be too much to handle.

She could imagine how troublesome it would be to drive it out herself, so in the end she declined Wang Ben's offer.

In this place, if she just drives out in any car and gets bumped or someone bumps into her, both of them will become nervous.

She asked Wang Ben to take her to the subway entrance, and then she took the subway there.

Watching the car drive away, she realized that buying a car should be put on the agenda, otherwise, delivering it back and forth like this would be too much trouble!

When she arrived at her home here, she packed some of the trinkets out of the room and put them in her suitcase. After she finished packing, she dragged her suitcase and prepared to go back.

Just as she reached the door, Cheng Qicai remembered that her favorite hand cream was still in the bedside table.

She went back and opened the bedside table to look for it. When she found it wasn't on her side, she went to look for it on Gu Rongqi's side.

She sometimes likes to leave things lying around, and Gu Rongqi will help her tidy up.

So usually, if something isn't with her, it's with him.

She opened the bedside table drawer and, sure enough, saw the hand cream she liked. She put the hand cream in her bag and was about to close the drawer when she saw a white, pointed corner peeking out from the second drawer.

She pulled open the drawer as if possessed, and a white bag came into view.

She had never seen this bag before. She opened it and saw the velvet box inside, and a premonition formed in her mind.

Her hands trembled slightly as she opened the box, and a dazzling pink diamond ring shot straight into her eyes.

She swallowed hard, placed the box on the cabinet, took out the ring, and put it on her middle finger—it fit perfectly.

Oh my goodness, it really is...

She held up her hand and looked around. The ring was obviously real; it wasn't one of those cheap rings she'd mentioned that she'd bought for nine dollars and ninety cents to make up the price.

She couldn't even imagine how much this diamond, the size of a rock candy, would cost.

However, the large diamond was indeed beautiful, making her hands appear much thinner.

There were also invoices in the bag. She took them out and looked at the information. The amount and unit on them made her heart skip a beat.

The ring was purchased after they moved out of the house, which explained why she hadn't seen it before.

Gu Rongqi probably hid here because he was afraid she would see him from the villa.

After admiring the ring for a while with a mixture of heartache and delight, she put it back in the box and then put it back in the bag.

After putting the bag back in the cabinet, she left.

As she walked downstairs, she felt uneasy. Such a valuable diamond ring was left in an empty house. She wondered when Gu Rongqi would propose. Would it get lost while it was left there?

But it's not safe to let her take it now. If I carry the suitcase myself, I can't take good care of it. What if I lose it?

She then thought about the security cameras in the house, which made her seem like she was worrying unnecessarily.

She sighed, took out her phone, and prepared to hail a taxi.

Suddenly, she paused. If she was going to take a taxi now, why not just buy a car instead? She was going to buy one anyway, and she had already picked one out before.

Thinking it over, she put her suitcase back at home and went straight to the 4S store.

After buying the car, she returned to the villa and instructed Wang Ben not to tell Gu Rongqi about her return to that place.

On her way back, she suddenly had an idea.

Wang didn't understand, but he nodded nonetheless.
