There were so many things to complain about that Cheng Qicai didn't know where to begin.
“If you want to cry, you can lean on my shoulder,” a deep, bubbly voice came from beside me.
"???" Cheng Qicai looked at Ji Xing in disbelief, making sure he wasn't joking.
The male and female leads were so angry they were about to explode, yet they were still crying?
She almost couldn't resist rushing in, grabbing their collars and yelling, "Wake up!" and then slapping them twice across the face.
"I didn't mean to cry," Cheng Qicai said, trying to keep her voice calm.
Ji Xing turned his head, about to say something, "You..."
Cheng Qicai felt the bag next to her thigh vibrate. "Sorry."
She took her phone out of her bag, and the sudden brightness stung her eyes. She squinted and turned down the brightness, and a message from Gu Rongqi was displayed on the screen.
Cheng Qicai clicked on it and saw that it was a transfer notification.
Cheng Qicai was puzzled and sent a question mark emoji.
The reply came quickly: "Your overtime pay will cover today's work."
She thought Gu Rongqi was really generous, not stingy like a capitalist at all. It was only right for a capitalist like Gu Rongqi to be rich.
Since Gu Rongqi wanted to count today as overtime, why would she refuse?
He readily accepted the transfer and expertly replied with a kneeling emoji thanking the boss.
I thought that was the end of the messages, but another message popped up the next second: [Still going on blind dates?]
Upon seeing the message, Cheng Qicai didn't understand why she had asked that question.
He quickly replied: [Still here.]
Seeing Ji Xing standing beside her, she turned her head and asked softly, "[Is something wrong?]"
She shook her head, put away her phone, and continued watching the dramatic movie that was playing out in front of her.
After watching the movie, Cheng Qicai only had one sentence: "Damn love!"
"Did you think the movie was good?" Ji Xing asked her as they left the theater.
"..." Cheng Qicai smiled. "Not my type. What about you?"
"Campus romance is so enviable! I saw a lot of girls crying up ahead of me," Ji Xing said with some emotion.
"oh."
Were we in the same theater? I didn't hear any crying.
"Your eyes seemed a little red at the time, were you moved?"
"No."
Ji Xing sighed, "You're quite rational. I'm not like that; I'm more emotional."
"By the way, I'm a little hungry. What would you like to eat?" Cheng Qicai changed the subject.
"How was the Japanese food?" Ji Xing asked with a hint of pride. "I'm friends with the owner of a restaurant nearby. They usually require reservations in advance, but I asked him yesterday to add a table for us today."
Ji Xing stopped and asked, "By the way, have you ever eaten Japanese food?"
Cheng Qicai nodded, "Does the sushi outside the school that costs over twenty yuan count?"
“I guess so,” Ji Xing’s smile faded a bit, “but the ingredients at my friend’s place are all air-freighted in every day to ensure freshness, definitely different from the street vendor food you eat.”
The two arrived at his friend's Japanese restaurant, and it did indeed look like what he had said.
Ji Xing gentlemanly pulled out a chair for Cheng Qicai to sit down. "There are only the two of us here. Since you don't understand these etiquette rules, we won't stand on ceremony. Just eat whatever you like."
Cheng Qicai sensed an unpredictable arrogance emanating from the other person. Was she being prejudiced? Or was she being prejudiced?
Although Ji Xing said he wasn't particular, he still introduced each dish to Cheng Qicai when the chef served them.
Ji Xing put down his spoon, rested his chin on his left hand, revealing his luxurious wristwatch, and looked at Cheng Qicai with deep affection in his eyes: "Do you know? The ingredients used in these dishes are not only fresh, but they also give people a feeling of closeness to nature, and you feel refreshed after eating them."
Cheng Qicai nodded, "From what I've heard, you are indeed a very sentimental person."
She verbally agreed with Ji Xing's words, but in her heart she thought that she felt closer to nature and more refreshed when she cut pig feed on the hillside.
"By the way, I saw the photos of you climbing Mount Lushan last time. I also really enjoy mountain climbing. Let's go together next time!"
"We'll talk about it when we have time," Cheng Qicai replied indifferently without looking up.
She has an urge to turn around and leave right now.
She had been looking forward to the meeting, but she was surprised to find that the difference between them in real life was so great, despite their good online chat.
She thought she had finally gotten lucky and met the right person on her first blind date. Just as she was feeling smug, the whole ordeal turned out to be a disaster.
"By the way, what brand is your hiking outfit? I don't think I recognize it."
Cheng Qicai ate the fish liver in one bite, "No brand, bought it from PXX."
"Hehe..." Ji Xing chuckled dryly, took a sip of tea, and said, "I know a niche foreign brand called CORAGGIO. Not only are their zipper designs unique, but they also use exclusive fabrics that can withstand extreme weather..."
Cheng Qicai feigned admiration, "You've really done your research, unlike me who just buys things casually..."
She sighed dejectedly, "Sigh, I just started working, I don't have much money, even if I did research, I couldn't afford it. Unlike you, I'm so young and already financially independent! I'm so envious!"
"Not at all! Just another working-class person!" Ji Xing said modestly, but the pride in his eyes was undisguised.
When the two reached the door, Ji Xing offered to take him home, but Cheng Qicai politely declined with an excuse.
"Alright then, be careful on your way." Ji Xing said gently.
Cheng Qicai politely replied, "Take care on the road too."
As she sighed that the meal was finally over, she saw Ji Xing walk a few steps toward her.
