Chapter 41 Milk Tea

She ran into Lin Fengjie, who came down after her, in the lobby, and instantly switched to a resentful look, staring at him intently.

Lin Fengjie felt the constant gaze from her all day, and the mere thought of it sent chills down his spine.

Helpless, he walked to the milk tea counter, ordered a milk tea and brought it to her. "It's not that I don't want to help you, I really don't have many people to choose from. The people I know in City A are all clients or something. Consider this milk tea as compensation for not being able to help you."

"Okay." Cheng Qicai sipped her favorite crème brûlée and generously forgave him.

She didn't really resent Lin Fengjie, but she admitted that he was doing well when she was down on her luck, and that there was an element of her malice in it.

As soon as Gu Rongqi stepped out of the elevator, he saw Lin Fengjie handing a milk tea to Cheng Qicai, and the two were talking intimately.

"President Gu!" Lin Fengjie saw Gu Rongqi walk over and stand with them. He didn't know why Gu Rongqi had come over, but he still greeted him respectfully.

Gu Rong nodded and said succinctly, "I'm looking for Cheng Qicai."

Lin Fengjie looked between the two strangely and sensed that Gu Rongqi was in a bad mood, probably because he had upset Gu Liji when he went upstairs.

He nodded, "Okay, Mr. Gu, I'll head off work now."

Cheng Qicai noticed that Gu Rongqi's gaze kept falling on the milk tea in her hand. "Mr. Gu, would you like some milk tea?"

Although it seems a bit incongruous with Gu Rongqi's identity to want to drink milk tea, maybe Gu Rongqi just likes sweet things.

She hadn't forgotten how Gu Rongqi acted recklessly when he was drunk at her house.

Nobody says CEOs can't drink milk tea, right?

"Is it good?" Gu Rongqi's voice was somewhat deep.

"It tastes really good, Mr. Gu, it's on me." Cheng Qicai walked happily to the milk tea counter, turned her head and asked Gu Rongqi, "Which one would you like to drink?"

"..." Gu Rongqi was silent for a moment, "Which one do you like to drink?"

“Crème brûlée.” She held up her milk tea and shook it. “Here, this is it.”

"Then this one."

Cheng Qicai handed him the milk tea that the shop assistant had packed, saying, "It's super delicious, trust me."

Gu Rongqi inserted the straw, took a sip, and then frowned slightly.

Cheng Qicai asked expectantly, "How did it go?"

Gu Rongqi had only one comment: "Too sweet."

"Next time, you can order it with 70% or 50% sugar." Cheng Qicai took a sip of her milk tea.

As soon as Gu Liji stepped off the elevator, he saw his brother's familiar back. "Brother, you haven't left yet?"

"Seven colors are also here..." Gu Liji's words were interrupted by the cup in Gu Rongqi's hand.

No, is this milk tea?

His brother never drinks milk tea. He's usually very strict and self-disciplined, and he follows the nutritionist's requirements completely.

Gu Liji looked out the window again and could clearly see the old man a few meters away whose shirt was tucked into his pants, revealing his red underwear.

It seems there's nothing wrong with his eyes; he's neither nearsighted nor farsighted.

He turned his gaze back and saw that the two of them had the exact same milk tea in their hands, and he was utterly shocked.

“You…” Gu Liji raised his hand tremblingly, pointing at the milk tea in their hands.

Cheng Qicai looked at Gu Liji, who had a shocked expression, and asked, "What's wrong? Brother Gu, do you want to drink too?"

Gu Liji took a deep breath and uttered two words between his lips: "I won't drink."

Why is he staring so intently at the milk tea in her hand even though he doesn't drink it himself? Does Gu Liji not want to drink it either?

Okay, since he hates it so much, I won't drink in front of him next time.

Cheng Qicai took two deep sips through the straw, finished the rest of her milk tea, and threw it into the trash can with a "thump".

"By the way, Mr. Gu, is there anything you need from me?"

Gu Rongqi didn't say it directly, but simply said, "Let's talk in the car."

After taking a couple of steps, Gu Rongqi turned back to look at Gu Liji, who hadn't moved yet, and said, "If there's nothing else, let's go back."

Cheng Qicai followed Gu Rong to the underground parking garage.

Cheng Qicai had never seen this car before, and there was no driver in it; it seemed that Gu Rongqi had driven it himself.

"Get in the car." He called out from the driver's seat, looking at Cheng Qicai who was still standing by the car.

"No, Mr. Gu..." Cheng Qicai didn't know what to say; she was still completely confused.

Seeing Gu Rongqi staring at her, Cheng Qicai finally gave in and got into the passenger seat.

Gu Rongqi took a tote bag from the side of the car and handed it to her.

The simple tote bag had only a few fancy gold-stamped English letters on it, and Cheng Qicai immediately recognized it as a high-end product.

She didn't understand why Gu Rongqi suddenly and inexplicably gave her something.

Is he trying to take advantage of her?

Looking at Gu Rongqi's handsome face, she thought, "Maybe, perhaps, maybe it's her who's making the money?"

The next second, Gu Rongqi shattered her fantasy: "A birthday present."

Putting aside the junk in her mind, she let out a confused "Ah".

Realizing what he had done, he pushed the gift back, saying, "Mr. Gu, I can't accept this."

Gu Rongqi turned and looked at her face for a while, until her face felt a little hot, before he finally spoke: "I think we should be considered friends now, isn't it normal to give a friend a birthday gift?"

Hearing Gu Rongqi say that, Cheng Qicai felt a sudden emptiness in her heart.

“Of course we’re friends,” Cheng Qicai unconsciously gripped the edge of her handbag. “Then thank you, Mr. Gu.”

Gu Rongqi added, "You don't have to use honorifics in private."

Cheng Qicai paused for a moment, realizing that she had indeed been calling him "President Gu" all this time, but calling him by his name directly wasn't good either, and if she called him "Brother Gu," Gu Liji would already have that title.

She couldn't help but ask, "Then what should I call him? Should I call him 'Brother'? From now on, I'll call Brother Gu 'Little Brother Gu' and President Gu 'Big Brother Gu'."
