The next day, as soon as Cheng Qicai stepped out of her office, she ran into Gu Liji, who had just come out of the elevator.
Cheng Qicai greeted him expressionlessly: "Good morning, President Gu!"
When Gu Liji saw Cheng Qicai, he paused in his steps and touched his nose guiltily. "Good morning, Qicai. Have you had breakfast?"
"No! I haven't digested what I ate last night yet, and I'm still full this morning!"
"Come on, let me treat you to breakfast."
"No, Mr. Gu, I have work to do." Cheng Qicai held up the document in her hand. "I need to take this document to the finance department downstairs."
Gu Liji stepped aside, "Alright, then you go ahead and get busy!"
Cheng Qicai coldly took the elevator downstairs.
After delivering the documents, I dealt with the pile of files, typing away until noon.
Gu Liji poked his head out from outside the door, "Qicai, let's go have lunch."
Cheng Qicai glanced at the time in the lower right corner of her computer. There was still half an hour before lunch break. Cheng Qicai's hands didn't stop. "I haven't finished processing the files yet."
Gu Liji said nonchalantly, "It's fine, we can deal with it this afternoon."
Cheng Qicai sighed, looked up at Gu Liji and said, "President Gu, if you really feel very free, there are still many documents that Brother Lin hasn't signed."
Upon hearing Cheng Qicai's words, Lin Fengjie looked up and pushed a stack of documents toward him. "President Gu, have you signed the documents I gave you this morning?"
Lin Fengjie's voice rang out like a devil's whisper.
Gu Liji looked at the thick stack of documents. He had just signed the documents Lin Fengjie had given him that morning, and now there was another huge pile. He was overwhelmed.
Being a good boss is definitely not an easy task!
Gu Liji silently left the office; work was out of the question!
After finishing processing the documents, Cheng Qicai stood up, stretched her numb shoulders, and called out to Lin Fengjie, "Brother Lin, dinner's ready."
Lin Fengjie had almost finished reviewing the documents, so he and Cheng Qicai went downstairs to the cafeteria for lunch.
He only asked when he had a chance, "What's going on between you and President Gu?"
Cheng Qicai didn't mention Gu Rongqi's blind date, but only told him about Gu Liji's escape last night.
"So in the end, it was Daigo who drove you back?" Lin Fengjie asked.
Cheng Qicai nodded.
To distinguish between the two "General Manager Gu"s, people in their company usually refer to them as "Big General Manager Gu" and "Little General Manager Gu" in private.
But Gu Rongqi didn't come here often, so they rarely used the distinction of age to differentiate between them, and simply called Gu Liji "General Manager Gu".
Lin Fengjie asked in confusion, "When did you and CEO Da Gu become so close?"
He remembered that last time in the lobby on the first floor, Gu Rongqi also sought out Cheng Qicai alone, and this time he even took her home.

Halfway through their conversation, a soft "thump" was heard as a plate landed opposite Cheng Qicai.
Cheng Qicai looked up and saw Gu Liji glaring at her with a resentful expression.
Gu Liji said unhappily, "Fine! Cheng Qicai, you didn't invite me to dinner."
Cheng Qicai rolled her eyes inwardly and said coolly, "You didn't call me when you left last night, did you?"
She added, "Don't you not eat in the company cafeteria?"
Upon hearing Cheng Qicai mention last night, Gu Liji's accusatory tone immediately softened. "I called you before, you should at least have called me back."
Cheng Qicai pouted, "Did you call it lunchtime? Are you expecting us to come early and starve?"
"Mr. Gu, you and Qicai can eat slowly. I'll go upstairs and finish processing the remaining documents." Lin Fengjie didn't have time to watch the two kids fight, so he picked up his plate and left.
As Gu Liji watched Lin Fengjie leave, he leaned forward and said to Cheng Qicai, "Don't be angry. I was going to wait for you last night, but it's all Bai Bo's fault. He said there was a murder mystery game shop nearby that was really fun and dragged me there. Otherwise, I would have gone with you guys."
Cheng Qicai chuckled, "Brother Gu, just tell me, what exactly do you want to tell me?"
She didn't believe that Gu Liji's repeated invitations to dinner, and his seemingly sincere apologies, were genuinely motivated by guilt towards her.
Gu Liji dropped the pretense and asked directly, "Do you know what Su Ni has been up to lately?"
Cheng Qicai thought, what else can I do? Live with the male lead!
But Cheng Qicai still replied, "I had hot pot with them last time, and I haven't seen them since."
"Tsk, you two are supposed to be sisters, how come you don't care at all what your sister does all day?" Gu Liji said disdainfully.
Cheng Qicai was speechless. I'm her sister, not her mother. Why should I care about her all the time?
Besides, he had the nerve to tell her they were sisters, when he saw Gu Rongqi, he ran away faster than anyone else.
