Chapter 63 Getting Drunk

Cheng Qicai told them to wait a moment while she went inside to change her clothes.

Just as she was about to sling her bag over her shoulder and leave, Yun Suni called out to her, "You haven't had your brown sugar ginger water yet."

She hesitated for a moment and said, "I'll come back and drink it later."

Yun Suni looked at her disapprovingly, while Gu Liji chimed in from the side, "Qicai, drink before you go. We'll be waiting for you soon."

Cheng Qicai gave a light "heh," and said, "Fine! Fine! Fine! You've been made the good guy."

She ran into the kitchen, poured three cups of brown sugar ginger water from the pot, and took them out with a smile, saying, "It's cold outside, everyone should have a cup to ward off the cold and also to prevent it."

Come on! Since you're so righteous, let's all hurt each other!

Cheng Qicai quickly handed out three cups of ginger water to them, watching Gu Liji drink it down in one gulp as if facing death, and then vomited twice after finishing.

Seeing his miserable state, Cheng Qicai was happy.

I went downstairs and went with them to Yun Suni's house.

Yun Suni unlocked the door with her key and sat on the sofa reading a book. Lu Qi, wearing a khaki sweater, stood up and walked towards them.

Cheng Qicai clearly noticed the changes in the room. Compared to the last time she came, Yun Suni had many more items for two people. She strongly suspected that Lu Qi had really stayed in the house next door.

"You're here, have a seat." Lu Qi greeted them naturally, as if they were ordinary friends visiting home, not rivals in love.

Is this the demeanor of an empress?

Cheng Qicai walked in and looked back to see Gu Liji standing at the door, looking like he had been struck by lightning.

"Brother Gu?" Cheng Qicai called out.

Gu Liji snapped out of his daze, looked at Lu Qi in a daze, and questioned him, "You two are living together?"

"Yes! Liji, welcome to our home." Lu Qi's attitude was unusually good, and he emphasized the words "our home".

Gu Liji was clearly somewhat on guard, and turned to ask Yun Suni, "Suni, are you really living together?"

"No," Yun Suni said guiltily, ignoring the line. "Lu Qi lives next door."

However, the furnishings inside the house clearly show how much evidence of the two living together.

Lu Qi put his arm around Yun Su Ni's shoulder, raised an eyebrow at him triumphantly, and added fuel to the fire by saying, "Do you have a problem with me and Su Ni living together?"

Seeing Gu Liji's clenched teeth, Cheng Qicai was afraid he would make a move at any moment, so she stepped forward to block him.

"No, no, Brother Gu is just too surprised," she said with a smile, trying to smooth things over and change the subject. "By the way, Brother Lu, what are we going to eat later? I'm getting a little hungry."

Xu Wuruo also smiled and said, "Everyone, please don't stand. I'm a little tired of standing, so please excuse me and sit down."

After saying that, he sat down on the sofa by himself.

Cheng Qicai tugged at Gu Liji's sleeve. Distracted by this, Gu Liji took a deep breath and calmed himself down.

He mechanically forced a smile and said to Yun Suni, "Yeah, Suni, why didn't you say so earlier? Today is such a wonderful surprise for me."

Yun Su Ni blushed slightly, "Well... there's nothing to say."

Cheng Qicai's face turned even more pale with anger when she saw Gu Liji's face.

She said that Yun Su Ni brought two love rivals to her house for dinner, and Lu Qi actually cooked for them with a polite expression; it was a miracle he didn't kick them out. It turns out it was all to completely assert his dominance.

What a cunning scheme!

The dishes were clearly hotel takeout; she had thought Lu Qi would cook them, but it turned out she was overthinking it.

Everyone had their own thoughts while eating the meal, but the frequent and intimate interactions between the male and female protagonists across from each other made them seem like a harmonious and happy family.

Faced with this scene, Gu Liji remained silent throughout, perhaps due to being too severely affected.

Lu Qi kept poking at people's sore spots, like asking them how their day went, and saying that he was too busy and that it was thanks to his friends that Yun Suni had someone to keep her company during her holiday.

It seems that even after being tricked by Gu Liji so many times, Lu Qi still managed to learn some tricks from this rival in love.

Xu Wuru responded with a smile throughout, showing no sign of anything amiss. If Cheng Qicai hadn't known he was the second male lead, she would have genuinely thought he was just an ordinary friend.

After the meal, Xu Wuruo suggested leaving first. Gu Liji said expressionlessly that he was going back. When Cheng Qicai saw everyone saying they were leaving, she also said she was leaving.

The three of them went downstairs in silence. Xu Wuruo was clearly a little downcast, but she still politely said, "Then I'll be going now. See you next time."

Cheng Qicai nodded, "Okay, Senior Xu, be careful on the road."

Watching Xu Wuruo leave, Cheng Qicai turned to Gu Liji, whose face was gloomy, and asked cautiously, "Brother Gu, are you alright?"

Gu Liji looked at her resentfully, and remained silent for a long time before asking, "Why didn't you tell me that the two of you lived together?"

Cheng Qicai protested, "I thought you knew. Wasn't it you who brought my sister back last time we had hot pot?"

"I...I don't know!" Gu Liji wailed, pointing to the sky, "How could this happen?!"

Cheng Qicai: "..."

He suddenly yelled, which startled not only her but also passersby. She quickly grabbed Gu Liji, "Brother Gu, someone's watching!"

"No, I really can't figure it out," Gu Liji said, annoyed. "You're coming to drink with me."

"I'm not going!"

She's not going; the last time she got so drunk she blacked out, it was awful.

Gu Liji started acting unreasonably, "No, you have to go. It's all your fault for not informing me of such important news."

Cheng Qicai was helplessly pulled into the car by Gu Liji.

Cheng Qicai continued to reason with him, "Brother Gu, why don't you go drink with your friends? I can't take it."
