Cheng Qicai lay motionless in the back row all the way to the restaurant entrance. Someone paid the bill, and of course, she ordered the highest-class private room.
As soon as Yun Suni entered the private room, she frowned and quietly asked her, "This place must be expensive, right? Why did you choose it?"
"Isn't this month's salary just paid out? It's not appropriate to invite Brother Gu, given his status; he's too low-class."
Cheng Qicai used Gu Liji as a shield, assuring everyone that this was absolutely not something she wanted to do herself.
Upon hearing this, Yun Su Ni indeed didn't say anything more.

I must say, it lives up to its high rating as a Western restaurant. Apart from the small portions, the taste is really good.
Gu Liji and Yun Suni went to universities next to each other and had a lot in common.
Furthermore, Gu Liji had ulterior motives, so the two of them kept talking, which of course had nothing to do with her university, which was a million miles away.
She didn't intend to join their conversation; she still understood that she was merely an excuse.
During the meal, Yun Su Ni's phone rang. She glanced at it, saw the caller ID, and then turned it off expressionlessly.
The air in the private room fell silent instantly. Cheng Qicai, who was focused on eating her steak, looked up and glanced at the two of them with a puzzled expression.
Then Gu Liji cautiously asked, "Haven't you made up with Lu Qi yet?"

Don't you know whether you've made up or not? You were the one who came up with the excuse for this meal.
Cheng Qicai internally complained.
Yun Su Ni shook her head silently.
“Sigh, I think Lu Qi is the same,” Gu Liji sighed, as if he was very concerned about the female lead, “You’ve only been working at the company for a little over a year, and you’ve already announced your relationship with the boss. What will the people in the company think of you?”

Cheng Qicai couldn't stand it anymore, so she made an excuse to order more food and left the private room.
Adding more food isn't really an excuse, since she'd been showing off that there wasn't much left. She went outside to ask the waiter for a menu.
A dark figure came from around the corner to meet her. Cheng Qicai stepped aside to let it pass, and the dark figure moved along with her.
She moved to the other side, and the dark figure followed her.
Hey, she has such a fiery temper!
She suddenly looked up, glaring angrily at the person blocking her way.
With sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes, his face was sculpted with sharp, distinct features; his exceptionally handsome face clearly indicated that he was no ordinary passerby.
His sharp gaze fixed on Cheng Qicai, and the chilling aura emanating from him made her lose her confidence.
Cheng Qicai asked hesitantly, "Which way are you going?"
"I am Lu Qi. Is Yun Su Ni inside?" Lu Qi's voice was cold.
Oh wow, the person in question has come knocking on our door.
Cheng Qi stepped on the wall to mourn for Gu Liji, who was trying to undermine him.
"Yes." Cheng Qicai nodded. "Are you going in?"
Let the storm rage on!
Cheng Qicai secretly looked forward to the arrival of the chaotic scene.
“I’m not going in,” Lu Qi shook his head, then looked Cheng Qicai up and down again. “You’re Su Ni’s cousin, right?”
Cheng Qicai nodded.
"What did Gu Liji say to Su Ni inside?"
The two sat on the sofa in the lobby, and Lu Qi went straight to the point about what happened in the private room.
"It's nothing, we were just talking about university." Cheng Qicai avoided the main point, not daring to mention that Gu Liji was talking badly about him inside.
"Hmph, what could he possibly talk to Su Ni about university matters? He's from a neighboring school, not even from the same one." Lu Qi sneered, his words filled with disdain for Gu Liji. He then asked, "He didn't say anything bad about me inside?"
Male lead, you guessed it perfectly!
"Hehehe..." Cheng Qicai laughed awkwardly.
"When we get back, hang up the phone and let me hear what he has to say about me."
Cheng Qicai frowned: "Isn't this a bad idea?"
You two are truly rivals in love, always playing mind games with each other.
"What's your name? Cheng Qicai?" Lu Qi recalled the name he had heard.
Cheng Qicai nodded.
“I’m your cousin’s boyfriend, and I’ve even had dinner at your house before, though you weren’t there. Now that I’m practically your brother-in-law, shouldn’t we help each other out as family?”
Cheng Qicai nodded again, pretending to be nonchalant, and said, "But President Gu is my boss now, so I can't do anything. I still have to respect their privacy."
“It’s alright. If he finds out and fires you, I’ll find you a job with even better pay than your current one.” Lu Qi tapped his long fingers lightly on the table a few times. “Here’s what, tell me what’s going on with Gu Liji and Su Ni, their whereabouts, etc.”
“As a family, whatever you want, whether it's a car, a bag, or some pocket money, I, as your brother-in-law, will not be stingy.”
“Brother-in-law, actually, I’ve long felt that Gu Liji is sinister and doesn’t look like a good person at all, unlike you, Brother Lu, who is clean-living and calm.”
