Cheng Qicai idly scooped up pieces of cake from the cake in front of her, wondering why no one was saying anything.
She glanced at Yun Suni across from her. Yun Suni had only taken a few bites of the cake on her plate, her coffee was barely touched, and she was absentmindedly gazing out the window, seemingly lost in thought.
Gu Liji glanced at Yun Su Ni every now and then, looking like he wanted to disturb her but didn't dare to.
Gu Rongqi didn't do anything special, just occasionally lifting his coffee cup to take a small sip.
Seeing the quiet atmosphere among the group, Cheng Qicai couldn't stand it like they could. With so many people and no one talking, she felt uncomfortable everywhere, so she tried to find a topic to ease the tension.
She glanced at the two people opposite her; it was clear they were unreliable.
If two are eliminated, then there is only one candidate left.
So she turned to look at Gu Rongqi beside her, intending to have a serious talk with him, "Gu Rongqi, what brings you to this area...?"
Once you've called your boss by name in front of others the first time, it's much easier the second time.
Gu Rongqi glanced at the person opposite him. "He came to see a client, but someone who was supposed to come ran away halfway through."
This seemingly insignificant accusation drew Cheng Qicai's gaze directly to Gu Liji.
Now Cheng Qicai understands everything. Gu Liji insisted on bringing them to this shopping mall and then wandering around inside. It was Gu Liji who saw Lu Qi here and deliberately brought them here.
When Gu Rongqi mentioned him, Gu Liji shrank his shoulders guiltily.
Wasn't I just too excited at the time?
Gu Rongqi noticed that Cheng Qicai's cake was gone and asked, "Do you want more cake?"
"No, thank you." Cheng Qicai shook her head; she didn't want a second piece after finishing the first one—it was too greasy.
Seeing that he only ordered cakes for her and Yun Suni, and not for himself, she asked, "Aren't you going to order a cake?"
Gu Rongqi shook his head, "I already had dinner with the client."
When the conversation stalled, silence returned.
Cheng Qicai took a sip of coffee out of boredom.
After a moment of silence, Yun Suni suddenly stood up, smiled apologetically at everyone, and said, "I'm sorry everyone, I'm not feeling well today, so I'm going back first. I won't keep you any longer, please enjoy yourselves."
"Sister..." Cheng Qicai couldn't help but stand up, wanting to say that she would go back with her too.
"You have fun with Liji and President Gu," she said to Cheng Qicai, then pushed the stool aside and walked out, ignoring the people behind her.
Seeing Yun Su Ni leave, Gu Liji stood up and said to Gu Rongqi, "Brother, I'll go after her and take a look."
After saying that, he chased after Yun Su Ni's figure.
Cheng Qicai was also really worried about Yun Suni's current condition. She apologized to Gu Rongqi and said, "I'm sorry, I also want to go see my sister."
"It's nothing! Let's go together." Gu Rongqi stood up.
She and Gu Rongqi had only taken a few steps forward when a shop assistant, who had heard the commotion, reached out and stopped them, politely saying, "Hello, please settle your bill here."
Cheng Qicai then realized that she hadn't paid the bill yet. By the time they finished settling the bill and chased after them, Yun Su Ni and Gu Li Ji had already disappeared.
"Don't be nervous!" Gu Rongqi comforted Cheng Qicai, seeing her anxious expression. "I'll call Gu Liji and ask. He should have succeeded in winning her over."
Cheng Qicai nodded, feeling much more at ease after hearing Gu Rongqi's words.
The call was connected.
Gu Rongqi asked, "Hey, Liji, where are you? Are you back at Miss Yun's house?"
While keeping an eye on Yun Su Ni's car ahead, Gu Liji replied to Gu Rongqi, "No, Su Ni just refused to go with me. Now she's taken a taxi, but I don't know where she's going. It doesn't seem like the way back to her house. I'm following her."
"Okay, call us when you get to your destination."
"No need, I can take care of Su Ni here." Gu Liji was reluctant and didn't want any extra people to come.
Now is the perfect time for me to shine.
It's not easy for him and Su Ni to have a chance to be alone together. If they don't make the effort now, when will they?
"Are you sure? She didn't want to talk to you just now." Gu Rongqi calmly stated the facts. He then looked at Cheng Qicai, who looked worried, and said, "Qicai is very worried about Miss Yun."
"..." Gu Liji was annoyed, but after thinking for a moment, he agreed to Gu Rongqi's request. "Okay, I'll send it to you later."
The call ended, and since Gu Rongqi had put the call on speakerphone, she naturally heard the conversation.
Gu Rongqi looked down at Cheng Qicai and said, "Let's find a place to wait for a while. It should take some more time before we get any news."
There's no other way now but to agree with Gu Rongqi and find a place to wait.
The two found an empty table, and Cheng Qicai asked somewhat shyly, "Is it alright if you wait with me?"
Gu Rongqi shook his head, "It's nothing, the matter that needed to be dealt with has been taken care of."
Cheng Qicai relaxed, still worried that Gu Rongqi would waste his time by staying here with her.
The wait was always long, and she looked ahead at the oden stall, feeling a little tempted.
Even though you're full, who can resist a bowl of hot oden on a cold day?
Cheng Qicai turned her head, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Gu Rongqi, "Gu Rongqi, would you like a bowl of oden?"
Gu Rongqi refused, "No need, just buy your own share."
"Really?" Cheng Qicai asked again to confirm.
Gu Rongqi nodded. Seeing Gu Rongqi's firm refusal, she didn't press the matter. "Then wait here for a moment, I'll go buy a bowl and come back quickly."
After saying that, she ran to the oden stall and ordered a few skewers.
