However, the location of the entrance was different from the one Gu Rongqi used to enter and exit last time. If it weren't for the similar house types and colors, she wouldn't have recognized it.
She called Gu Liji to tell her she was at the door. Gu Liji told her to wait a moment while he sent someone out to meet her.
Cheng Qicai breathed a sigh of relief. Thinking about the distance she had traveled from Gu Rongqi's house last time, she was afraid she would be exhausted if she carried such a bag of documents in today.
A short while later, Cheng Qicai waited at the door for a middle-aged man with neatly combed hair and elegant manners to get out of the car.
He walked up to Cheng Qicai, smiled, and asked, "Hello, are you Miss Cheng?"
Cheng Qicai nodded.
He explained his purpose, "I am Zhang Bin. Young Master Gu asked me to come and pick you up."
Cheng Qicai followed Zhang Bin to Gu Liji's villa. This was the first time she had come to Gu Liji's house; usually, it was Lin Fengjie who came.
So it's still a bit of a surprise to see his villa.
Zhang Bin led Cheng Qicai to the room where Gu Liji was and knocked on the door.
"Come in," came Gu Liji's voice from inside.
Zhang Bin opened the door and let Cheng Qicai in.
The room was dark, with no lights on. Inside, there was a large, glowing screen displaying tiny figures jumping left and right.
Gu Liji, sitting cross-legged on the carpet in front of him, was intently watching the screen, his hands constantly pressing the game controller in his hand.
Is this... just not in the mood?
Before Cheng Qicai could even speak, she felt a pulling sensation on her feet, and through the blur, she could only see a dark shadow beside her feet.
"Ah!!!" she cried out in fright, taking a step back.
Gu Liji was startled by the shout, his hand trembled, and the little figure on the screen fell off the cliff.
He got up, turned on the room light, and saw Cheng Qicai, who was pale with fright and stunned.
Gu Liji immediately shouted sternly at the shadowy figure, "Golden Bean!!!"
Golden Bean let out a soft "Ugh~" after being yelled at, and took a few steps back in grievance.
Cheng Qicai heard the puppy barking, looked down carefully, and saw a familiar yellow puppy.
"Are you alright, Qicai?" Gu Liji picked up the puppy and poked its forehead. "Little thing, you scared someone."
Golden Bean's head kept tilting backward as he poked it, until finally, with nowhere left to retreat, it tried to twist and flip over.
It was a false alarm. Cheng Qicai shook her head, "It's nothing."
She looked again at the puppy in Gu Liji's arms and asked in confusion, "Isn't this President Gu's dog? How come it's with you?"
“This is not mine…” Gu Liji paused for a moment before realizing that Cheng Qicai was talking about Gu Rongqi.
Gu Liji was greatly puzzled and felt something was wrong. "Wait, how do you know this is my brother's dog?"
Cheng Qicai replied matter-of-factly, "I picked it up with him! Of course I know. And you were there too."
