Cheng Qicai continued to peek out to watch the drama unfold, and saw Yun Su Ni pull Lu Qi back and say something to Gu Liji.
Then Guliji drove away.
Seeing that Gu Liji had left, Yun Su Ni let go of Lu Qi. The two talked about something, and Lu Qi was clearly a little excited.
Yun Su Ni turned to leave, but Lu Qi grabbed her arm and pulled her into his arms. Just as he was about to lower his head, Yun Su Ni didn't know what to say to him, so Lu Qi let her go.
Is this going to be a scene of domineering and forced love?
Cheng Qicai's last sight was Lu Qi standing behind Yun Su Ni, clenching his fist as he watched her enter the apartment building.
After finishing the melon, the three of them returned to the sofa and sat down.
"Sigh, what a mess this is." Song Luo sighed with worry.
Yun Rucheng patted her shoulder and comforted her, "Let them handle their own feelings first. Su Ni has her own ideas."
Cheng Qicai found it difficult to speak up.
Yun Su Ni returned shortly afterward, and the three of them pretended to go about their business as if nothing had happened.
Seeing Yun Suni's obviously tired expression, Cheng Qicai couldn't help but ask, "Sister, are you alright?"
Yun Su Ni shook her head in silence.
Seeing that she became depressed whenever she saw Gu Liji and Lu Qi, Cheng Qicai couldn't help but think of a solution, "Sister, why don't you come back to our hometown with me for a few days?"
Yun Su Ni was taken aback by Cheng Qi Cai's suggestion.
Cheng Qicai continued to persuade him, "Take a break, maybe you'll gradually figure things out?"
Seeing Yun Su Ni hesitate, Cheng Qi Cai then said to Yun Ru Cheng and Song Luo, "Uncle and Aunt, can I ask my sister to go to our hometown with me for a trip?"
Yun Rucheng and Song Luo exchanged a glance.
Yun Rucheng replied with a smile, "Sure, let your sister go with you. She's never lived in the countryside before, so it'll be a good opportunity for her to experience what I used to do."
“Yes, Su Ni, why don’t you go and experience it with Qi Cai this year?” Song Luo also chimed in with encouragement.
Cheng Qicai nudged Yun Suni with her elbow, "Sister, what do you think?"
Seeing the concerned looks on their faces, Yun Suni finally nodded.
"Then show me your ID card, and we'll buy the tickets for the day after tomorrow."
When Cheng Qicai returned home, she told Ms. Yun about it. Ms. Yun then called back and asked her grandparents to prepare an extra room.
On the day she left, Ms. Yun instructed Cheng Qicai: "Your sister has never lived in the countryside before, so take good care of her. If I find out you've been causing trouble with people everywhere, I'll break your legs when I get back."
"Okay, Mom," Cheng Qicai replied helplessly.
Cheng Qicai and Yun Suni waited in the departure lounge, dragging their suitcases. Seeing Yun Suni silently gazing out the window, Cheng Qicai asked, "Sister, are you a little nervous?"
“A little.” Yun Suni smiled.
Cheng Qicai comforted her, "It's okay, my grandparents are very nice people."
As the plane took off, Yun Su Ni watched City A shrink from its former size as it passed through the clouds. It was as if all her worries about City A had been left behind, and her frustration dissipated considerably.
To get to Cheng Qicai's grandparents' home, you first need to take a taxi from the airport to the bus station, then take a bus to the county, and then find another vehicle to get home.
On the way to the county by car, Cheng Qicai could already feel a bit of home.
On the way, she ran into an acquaintance from her village. He said that when someone came to pick him up, he would give Cheng Qicai and the others a ride back as well.
Cheng Qicai turned to Yun Suni happily and said, "Sister, we're so lucky!"
Yun Su Ni watched as fewer and fewer buildings appeared on the road, more and more trees appeared, the road became narrower and narrower, and the air became clearer and clearer.
Everything here was unfamiliar to her, but seeing Cheng Qicai beside her calmed her down.
Cheng Qicai thanked the acquaintances who had given them a ride, then turned to Yun Suni and said, "See that orange tree? That's my grandpa's house. Let's go!"
Cheng Qicai walked to the front door and shouted into the house, "Grandpa and Grandma, I'm back!"
Yun Suni watched as a thin, dark-skinned old man with gray hair walked out, and then called out to Cheng Qicai, "Grandpa."
"Qicai, you're finally back. We've been waiting for you for so long." Looking at Yun Suni behind Cheng Qicai, "Is this the cousin your mother was talking about?"
"Yes, her name is Yun Suni. She's here to stay for a few days."
"Alright, welcome, come in."
It's a three-story building with lots of vegetables and trees in the yard, but since it's winter now, many of the leaves have fallen off.
Only the orange tree in front of the courtyard gate still had quite a few oranges on it.
Cheng Qicai led Yun Suni to her room: "Sister, you can stay here. Just tell me if you need anything."
Yun Suni nodded. The room wasn't furnished, but it was very clean and tidy.
Opening the window, she could see the distant mountains and breathe in air so different from that in the city. Only then did Yun Su Ni finally feel that she had truly arrived in a strange place.
During dinner, Yun Suni saw Cheng Qicai's grandmother—an elderly woman with gray hair and a slightly hunched back.
The two welcomed her arrival and had a lavish dinner consisting of vegetables they had grown and chickens and ducks they had raised themselves.
After finishing their meal, Cheng Qicai led Yun Suni to pick oranges from the tree in front of the door. "Sister, try some, are they sour?"
Yun Su Ni pushed one aside, and the sourness made her squint.
Cheng Qicai burst out laughing when she saw this.
After the initial sourness, a sweet aftertaste lingers in the mouth.
Once you get used to the sourness, the orange tastes pretty good.
After chatting with them for a while, the two elderly people went to sleep.
Cheng Qicai and the others had been busy all day, so they washed up and went to bed early.
When Yun Suni opened her eyes the next day, she looked at the unfamiliar room and it took her a while to realize that this was Cheng Qicai's hometown.
When she came downstairs, Yun Su Ni smelled the aroma of firewood and realized that the two elderly people had almost finished cooking.
"Grandpa..." she called out somewhat shyly.
Grandpa said kindly, "It's alright, we woke up early and just got up to cook. If you're still sleepy, you can sleep a little longer. We'll put the food in the pot for you, and you can get up and eat."
Yun Su Ni repeatedly agreed.
Yun Suni discovered that the countryside was different from what she had imagined. Originally, she thought that the internet here would be very poor and the transportation would be inconvenient, but after arriving here, she found that none of these things were true.
Although it's called a rural area, it actually has everything you need, except for the differences from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Moreover, life moves at a really slow pace, and Yun Su Ni really feels a sense of peace while staying here.
Only when she sees Lu Qi's messages on her phone every day does she realize that she's only here for a few days.
Every day, Cheng Qicai would ride a tricycle, taking her around to play. Sitting in the back of the tricycle, swaying back and forth, it seemed as if all her worries were shaken away.
Of course, your hands and face will also get frozen stiff.
I came back and sat by the stove, roasting sweet potatoes and eating oranges. Another simple day had passed.
