Feeling a little embarrassed to copy the text back, Cheng Qicai thought for a moment and then honestly retyped the content: [Thank you, and Happy New Year to you too! /fireworks]
She read it and felt that it looked less stiff and less like a human-machine reply.
A bright red "Happy New Year" red envelope quickly followed.
Cheng Qicai's heart tightened. How come it's the same as last time?
Isn't this a test for her?
She felt that the bright red envelope was like a hot potato, and she didn't know whether to accept it or not.
I typed and deleted the message in the message box, but in the end I deleted the message and exited the chat.
Never mind, I'll just pretend I didn't see it and wait for it to revert automatically when the time comes.
Cheng Qicai selected a few photos of them together, added some captions, and posted them on her WeChat Moments.
Among her many posts, hers are ordinary yet heartwarming.
Just then, Yun Suni, who was outside, returned. She put away her phone and noticed that Yun Suni looked much better.
After washing up, the two went back to their room to sleep.
The next day was the Spring Festival. Cheng Qicai was woken up early by the constant sound of firecrackers outside. After getting up early and having a hearty meal, Cheng Qicai originally planned to take Yun Suni out to play.
But just as they were leaving, several men in suits knocked on their door.
Cheng Qicai stared at them in surprise, then asked warily, "Who are you?"
A man in a black suit stepped out and said to them with a smile, "We are here to wish you a Happy New Year, sent by President Lu."
Cheng Qicai glanced at Yun Suni, wanting to see what she was thinking.
Seeing that Cheng Qicai didn't move aside, the man said to Yun Suni, "There's a road inside where you can buy gifts for the two elders as a way of wishing them a Happy New Year."
Yun Su Ni relented, "Come in."
They unloaded a lot of things from the car one after another, sorted everyone's belongings, and then left.
Cheng Qicai hadn't even had a chance to invite them for tea.
She rummaged through the pile of things, and wow, there were all sorts of things, including cosmetics and clothes, all of them designer brands.
The health supplements she gave to her grandparents were also ridiculously expensive.
There were also some daily necessities, which was very thoughtful. It felt like I had moved my whole home here.
They benefited from Yun Su Ni's fame, getting so many things for free.
Since Lu Qi had given so many gifts, Cheng Qicai felt she should still call to thank him.
So she dialed Tong Qi's number.
She got straight to the point, "Hey, Brother Lu, Happy New Year! You sent so many things to my house, I can't accept it, thank you so much."
Lu Qi replied to her, "Happy New Year! Consider this a New Year's gift. It's inconvenient for you there, so I'm just trying to make things easier for you."
Cheng Qicai glanced at Yun Suni. This wasn't for her convenience; it was clearly for her sister's sake.
She knew perfectly well what was going on and asked, "My sister is right next to us, would you like to have a chat?"
Lu Qi remained silent this time.
After a moment of silence, Lu Qi finally spoke up: "Never mind, Happy New Year to you and Su Ni! Have fun."
Cheng Qicai agreed and hung up the phone.
She frowned as she looked at the pile of things, wondering how she would explain to her grandparents where they came from.
Finally, she discussed with Yun Suni that, to avoid trouble, they should say that it was sent by Ms. Yun and Yun Rucheng.
Once the Spring Festival is over, the holiday goes by much faster, like oranges on a tree, with only a few left after they've fallen.
That day, Cheng Qicai drove Yun Suni home and saw a familiar sports car in the yard.
Cheng Qicai looked up at the sky and thought to herself, "No way? This can actually happen."
There wasn't a moment of peace and quiet during this holiday, was there? One person left and another arrived.
"Brother Gu!" she sighed softly and went forward to knock on his window.
"Seven colors, pure rainbow!" Gu Liji smiled and greeted the two.
I got out of the car and went inside naturally, as if it were my own home.
Since he's already here, we can't turn him away; guests are guests.
Cheng Qicai welcomed him in and placed sunflower seeds, fruit, and snacks in front of him.
Gu Liji complained, "The roads here are terrible! My car's undercarriage got scraped several times."
Cheng Qicai rolled her eyes. "You're driving a sports car on a mountain road. Who else would get scratched if not you?"
Yun Su Ni asked, puzzled, "Li Ji, what brings you here?"
Gu Liji took out a bouquet of roses and some gifts from the trunk. "Su Ni, here you go! Happy New Year, a belated gift."
Yun Suni took a step back and shook her head in refusal: "I'm sorry, I can't accept it."
Gu Liji took a step closer. "Can't you just consider it a gift from a friend?"
Seeing that the two were arguing, Cheng Qicai didn't want to interrupt, so she made an excuse: "Sister, I'll go to the vegetable garden and pick some vegetables for tonight."
"I'll go with you."
"I'll go too."
Cheng Qicai couldn't understand how the excuse for running away had turned into a threesome.
Gu Liji watched Yun Suni chopping cabbage with a knife and volunteered, "Suni, let me help you."
Cheng Qicai was speechless. It wasn't like she was doing any heavy work; she didn't need help to cut a cabbage.
Yun Suni refused, "No need, just pull up another one."
Hearing Yun Su Ni acknowledge him, he immediately bent down and started pulling up the cabbage at his feet.
"Ah!" Gu Liji suddenly shouted, throwing the cabbage in his hand away.
The cabbage was thrown heavily to the ground, covered in mud, and many of its leaves were broken.
Upon hearing the noise, Cheng Qicai immediately straightened up and looked at him anxiously, asking, "What happened?"
