Watching Cheng Qicai's departing figure, Gu Rongqi lowered his head and looked at Gu Xinyue softly, "Yueyue, is there anything you want to do today?"
"I want to go to the squirrel park with my brother." Although Gu Xinyue is only two years old, she speaks clearly and logically. "Last time Bubu was sick, I wanted to go see it, okay? Daddy, can we take Jian Guo to see it?"
Bubu is a squirrel in Squirrel Paradise. Gu Xinyue saw Bubu's birth when she was one and a half years old and named her.
Gu Lubo asked her to take Bubu home to raise it, but she didn't want Bubu to leave its parents, so Bubu stayed in the park. Whenever she missed it, she would ask Cheng Qicai and Gu Rongqi to take it to see it.
"Okay, I'll call my brother first." Gu Rongqi put down the phone, called Lu Yiyuan to ask if he was willing to go, and then they set off for Lu Qi's house.
The two little ones were very happy to see each other. Lu Yiyuan looked into the car but didn't see Cheng Qicai. He asked Gu Rongqi with some disappointment, "Uncle, where's Auntie?"
"Your aunt went out to play, so I'm taking you and Yueyue out to play today," Gu Rongqi explained.
"Oh." Although Lu Yiyuan is about four years old, getting into the car is still a bit difficult for him, but he refused Gu Rongqi's help and insisted on getting into the car by himself.
Once he was settled, Gu Rongqi fastened the child seat's safety belt.
“Brother,” Gu Xinyue handed the cookie in her hand to Lu Yiyuan, “Brother, have a cookie.”
"Thank you, Yueyue." Lu Yiyuan took the cookies from her hand.
Once the two children were settled, Gu Rongqi told the driver to start the car.
Cheng Qicai had filled the car with lots of plush toys, and the two little ones didn't need much coaxing along the way; they could play with the toys in the car for a long time.
Lu Yiyuan handed an old woman's hand puppet to Gu Rongqi, "Uncle, you can be Little Red Riding Hood's mother and grandmother."
"Yueyue, you be Little Red Riding Hood." She then handed Gu Xinyue a little girl puppet with a red hat, "I'll be the Big Bad Wolf."
After making the arrangements, Lu Yiyuan looked at Gu Rongqi with wide eyes.
Gu Rongqi paused, then said, "Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma is sick, you..."
"No, Uncle, your tone is off. Aunt's expression and tone were very worried when she spoke..."
Gu Rongqi changed his tone to one of concern and started the story again.
When the story shifts to the Big Bad Wolf making Little Red Riding Hood pick flowers along the way, Lu Yiyuan and his friends' plot changes. Little Red Riding Hood accuses the wolf of ruining the flowers, and the Big Bad Wolf, seeing his scheme fail, tries to eat her. However, Little Red Riding Hood pulls a bottle of pepper spray from her basket…
Looking at the drastically altered plot, Gu Rongqi sighed helplessly.
After the Big Bad Wolf used the Eighteen Subduing Dragon Palms, seeing that Gu Rongqi had no reaction, Lu Yiyuan called out to him, "Uncle, it's your turn to use your moves."
"..." Gu Rong thought for a moment with a headache, then uttered a move, "Toad Style?"
Gu Xinyue quickly followed up by saying a move.
Amidst their chaotic and nonsensical storyline, the car arrived at Squirrel Paradise.
Gu Rongqi first carried Lu Yiyuan down, then carried Gu Xinyue down. Gu Rongqi led the two children toward the squirrel house.
Gu Xinyue immediately went to see her beloved Bubu. Seeing Bubu jumping around happily in the tree, Gu Xinyue shouted to it, "Bubu!"
She placed the nuts she brought on a plate on the ground, waiting for Bubu to come down and eat them.
Upon hearing Gu Xinyue's voice, Bubu paused for a moment on the branch, its big black eyes turning to Gu Xinyue before it quickly jumped from the branch to the plate.
Gu Xinyue reached out and stroked its back.
The squirrels here are cared for by keepers and are quite friendly. In addition, Gu Xinyue and the others often come to visit Bubu, so Bubu doesn't resist them.
They would also take Bubu to the playground to play.
Gu Rongqi watched them having fun on the slide, then took out his phone and saw a photo of candied hawthorn that Cheng Qicai had taken of him.
[When are you going back? I brought some candied hawthorns for Yueyue and the others.]
Gu Rongqi replied to her: [Soon, why did you buy three skewers?]
[Wu Jieyu and I each got one skewer, and of course, the last one is for you, my dear husband and best friend!]
Gu Rongqi's eyes crinkled when he saw the message.
Lu Yiyuan and Gu Xinyue walked over, and Gu Xinyue asked, "Dad, is that Mom?"
Gu Rongqi took out a tissue and wiped the sweat from the children's foreheads. "Yes, Mom bought you candied hawthorns. Do you want to go home?"
"good."
Gu Xinyue and Bubu said their reluctant goodbyes and returned home.
"Mother!"
"Auntie!"
As soon as they entered, the two children shouted Cheng Qicai's name at the top of their lungs.
"Hey, let me see which two little darlings are back?" Cheng Qicai stood up from the sofa and waved to them. "Come on, see what I brought you!"
"Ta-da! Candied hawthorn skewers and roasted chestnuts." Cheng Qicai handed the mini skewers to Gu Xinyue, and then handed the smaller skewers to Lu Yiyuan.
They're still young; they can only try this kind of thing once in a while.
Seeing the two children eating so intently, Cheng Qicai leaned over to Gu Rongqi and whispered, "Yours is in the fridge. You can sneak away and eat it later."
Gu Rongqi smiled and said, "Okay."
Cheng Qicai asked her how her day was, and the two children chattered on about the interesting things that happened that day.
Lu Yiyuan complained, "Auntie, we were playing games in the car today, and Uncle couldn't keep up with what we were saying."
"Haha, why can't he keep up with what you're saying?" Cheng Qicai peeled chestnuts from the bag.
"Yueyue and I can name many moves, but my uncle can only name one."
