Side Story 5: The Wedding (Part 2)

Having no other choice, Cheng Qicai led him to the door, where only her figure was visible at the threshold. She said to Madam Yun, "Mom, Rong Qi is drunk, so I'll take him upstairs to rest first."

"Is Xiao Qi alright?" Ms. Yun asked, frowning.

"It's alright." After she finished speaking, she smiled at the group of people inside the house and said, "Uncle, you all have fun. We'll go upstairs to rest first."

After saying that, Cheng Qicai closed the door and led Gu Rong, who wouldn't let go, to her room.

"Please sit down first, I'll go find you some clean clothes." Cheng Qicai led him to the sofa and sat him down. She shook his hand, signaling him to let go.

Gu Rongqi looked up at her, his eyes filled with undisguised affection.

His fingers twitched, and just when Cheng Qicai thought he was going to let go, he suddenly exerted force in his arm, pulling Cheng Qicai onto his lap and making her sit down. His arm wrapped around her waist like a vine, firmly stabilizing her body.

Cheng Qicai gasped in surprise, because she was wearing a skirt and could only sit sideways.

"You scared me to death." Cheng Qicai couldn't help but lightly punch his shoulder.

"I'm sorry..." Gu Rongqi apologized sincerely, then remained silent for a while. He took out an orange from his pocket and slowly began to peel it.

"Is this an orange for you?"

"Um."

Why didn't you eat it when I gave it to you?

"I want to eat with you." Gu Rongqi was unusually honest when he was drunk.

He's usually meticulous when peeling oranges, but now that he's drunk, he peels them even slower, pausing after every two peels.

Cheng Qicai couldn't stand it anymore, so she got up from his lap and sat down next to him. She took the orange from his hand, quickly peeled it, tore off the pith, separated it in the middle, and then handed the orange to him.

Gu Rongqi didn't take it. Cheng Qicai looked up at him in confusion and saw that his lips were slightly open, as if he was waiting for her to feed him.

His appearance reminded her of the first time she got drunk at home, when she acted like a spoiled young master. She couldn't help but complain, "You really do act like a spoiled young master when you're drunk!"

"Young Mistress".

Cheng Qicai was taken aback, then retorted, "I'm not destined to be a young mistress. Right now, I'm just a poor little maid serving you."

"Eat up, young master." Even as she said this, she still broke an orange into a small segment and put it in his mouth. "Is it sour?"

"Sweet."

"Sweet?" Cheng Qicai asked.

For some reason, this year's oranges are much sourer than in previous years, which is why she gave them to Gu Rongqi to help him sober up. Now that he says they're sweet, Cheng Qicai is quite surprised.

But Gu Rongqi's expression was so sincere that Cheng Qicai, without suspicion, put a segment of orange into her mouth.

The moment she bit through the orange's membrane, the pungent sourness sent a shiver down her spine. "So sour!!!"

She swallowed the orange and looked at Gu Rongqi, who was staring at her and smiling, "You did it on purpose, it's so sour..."

Gu Rongqi leaned in and kissed her on the lips, silencing her.

The two exchanged a bittersweet kiss, tinged with the smell of alcohol. Gu Rongqi stopped, his eyes still hazy, and repeated, "Sweet."

Seeing that she didn't speak, he repeated "sweet" again, his expression serious as if he wanted Cheng Qicai to agree with him.

"Sweet, sweet..." Cheng Qicai compromised.

Gu Rongqi was satisfied this time.

Cheng Qicai blushed and put the remaining oranges on the table. She stood up and said, "Alright, it's getting late. Go wash up and go to bed early. I'll go get you some clothes."

She led him to the bathroom, put his clothes down, and turned to leave.

She remembered that he had taken a shower alone when he was drunk before and it was no problem.

Before her hand even touched the doorknob, Gu Rongqi pulled her back, hugging her from behind and calling out affectionately, "Wife..."

This tone was quite unusual. Generally, this kind of tone was only used when Cheng Qicai was being coquettish; she had never seen it on Gu Rongqi before.

Moreover, the two of them usually call each other by their first names, and Cheng Qicai even calls him by his full name.

Seeing that Cheng Qicai did not reply, Gu Rongqi gently rubbed his chin against the top of her head a few times.

It was hard and itchy.

Cheng Qicai snapped out of her daze and replied, "What's wrong?"

Gu Rongqi looked at the two of them in the bathroom mirror. Today was also their wedding day, so Cheng Qicai was wearing a red coat, her hair was styled in an updo with a large red vintage rose clipped to it, and her round pearl earrings and bright red lipstick made her look both retro and glamorous.

However, her lipstick was a bit smudged, while Gu Rongqi's lips were even redder.

His gaze was fixed on Cheng Qicai's face in the mirror, and he murmured, "Wife, don't go."

Cheng Qicai looked at Gu Rongqi in the mirror, who was wearing a black coat with a matching small rose pinned to his chest. "What? You don't expect me to stay and watch you do the laundry, do you?"

The two of them looked like they were dressed in the style of Ms. Yun at that time.

However, it's normal that they look alike, since the clothes were bought by Ms. Yun.

Gu Rongqi's lips lingered near her ear, and he softly murmured "Mmm".

The scorching heat of the alcohol sprayed onto her skin, making her already slightly rosy complexion even redder. Gu Rongqi's eyes became infatuated, and his hot breath followed the movement of his head, spreading the redness onto her skin.

He looked at his masterpiece with satisfaction, his lips lightly touching the skin.

Cheng Qicai was speechless, unable to stand his cloying manner and that shameless "hmm". She pushed him, but couldn't budge him.

"Wife..." Gu Rongqi sniffed at her, murmuring to himself.

Cheng Qicai sighed softly. Gu Rongqi was much more difficult to deal with when he was drunk, and his temper was like that of a child.

No matter how much Cheng Qicai pleaded with him, he wouldn't let her leave. Helpless, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and help him take off his clothes, then led him to the shower.

There was no bathtub in his hometown, and the space was not large. Even when Cheng Qicai turned her back to him and let him wash her, the two were only two arms' length apart.

Hearing the rustling sounds behind her, Cheng Qicai let out a long breath.

Just when she thought he was being honest, her arm tightened, and the next second she was drenched with water. Before she could wipe the water off her face, a wet kiss landed on her.

When the two came out, Cheng Qicai was wearing only a top, while Gu Rongqi was wearing only pants. Their outfits together formed a matching set.

When she went in, Cheng Qicai didn't expect to come out with him, so she only took Gu Rongqi's clothes.

If they didn't dress like this, only one of them would be running around naked. Although they were in her own room, Cheng Qicai still felt ashamed, both for herself and for Gu Rongqi.

After fooling around in the bathroom, she looked at Gu Rongqi, whose eyes had cleared up considerably, and leaned over to ask, "Are you more sober now?"

"Hmm." Gu Rongqi's reaction was still a little slow, but much better than before.

"Once you're sober, help me dry my hair." Cheng Qicai handed the hairdryer to Gu Rongqi with a hint of annoyance.

Next time, I shouldn't let him get so drunk; she's exhausted. Cheng Qicai made up her mind.
