Chapter 82 Fishing

Time seemed to stand still for a few seconds.

Feng Lingyi was wondering what he was going to do when she saw several small fish, no longer than a finger, cautiously approach and tentatively begin to gently peck at Qin Xiao's toes.

One, two, three...

In the blink of an eye, Qin Xiao slightly lifted his foot, and five lively little fish were nimbly pinched between his toes and pulled away from the water. They hopped futilely on the wet wooden board, their silver scales shimmering in the sunlight.

Qin Xiao gathered the poor little fish together, calmly put his shoes and socks back on, stood up, and looked at the dumbfounded Feng Lingyi.

"President Feng, look."

He spoke as casually as if he were discussing the weather.

"Although my method is not very elegant, and even a bit... well, not very respectable."

"But I did catch a fish, didn't I?"

He paused for a moment, his gaze falling on Feng Lingyi, becoming exceptionally serious.

"So, Ms. Feng, please put your mind at ease."

"Many people want to kill me, but they don't have the ability yet."

"If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know."

After saying that, Qin Xiao seemed to suddenly remember something and took out a folded yellow talisman from his pocket. It was the "Suppressing Evil and Turning Yang Talisman" drawn by Daoist Qing Sheng.

He handed the talisman to Feng Lingyi.

"Keep this close to your body."

His tone was calm, yet carried an undeniable power.

"You must keep it with you for seven days. Remember, it must be close to your body."

As he handed over the talisman, Qin Xiao's gaze inadvertently swept over Feng Lingyi's arm as she raised to receive it.

Although most of it was hidden by his sleeve, he still caught a glaring bruise where the cuff had slipped down. The color was dark, clearly a fresh wound.

Qin Xiao's eyes suddenly turned cold, like a frozen lake.

"And the person who hit you..."

His voice wasn't loud, even somewhat understated, but the chill contained within it made the surrounding air seem to drop several degrees.

Before Feng Lingyi could answer, he continued, his tone resolute.

"I will make him pay the price."

"I promise you, he will never have the chance to lay a finger on you again."

Feng Lingyi held the talisman paper that still carried Qin Xiao's body temperature, her fingertips trembling slightly uncontrollably.

She looked up and met Qin Xiao's deep and determined eyes.

There was no joke in it, only a rock-solid promise and a powerful, reassuring confidence.

An unprecedented feeling, a mixture of trust and security, enveloped her like a tidal wave.

Faced with Qin Xiao's unquestionable gaze and his chilling promise, she was overwhelmed with mixed feelings, but in the end, she nodded gently.
