"You stay here, I'll go around and flank him!" Shen Xingling said, about to take action.
"Don't go." Qin Xiao grabbed her arm. "Listen to me."
Just then, from several other shadowy corners of the room, three or four similarly dressed figures suddenly stood up, and the muzzles of several guns were pointed at the pillar where they were from different directions!
"Oh no! It's a trap!" Shen Xingling's heart sank to the bottom.
The ringleader let out a hoarse laugh.
"Police? Perfect timing. Saves us the trouble of finding transportation."
He kicked open the large travel bag next to him. The zipper slid open, revealing not money or goods, but a young woman who was tightly bound and had a rag stuffed in her mouth!
The woman, her face streaked with tears, stared at them in terror.
"Hostages!" Shen Xingling gasped, this was the last thing the police wanted to face.
"You have five minutes. Prepare an SUV with a full tank of gas, and make sure it's unmarked." The criminal leader pointed a gun at the hostage's head and said coldly, "Don't try anything funny, or I'll rip a hole in her pretty head."
Shen Xingling's palms, gripping the gun, were drenched in sweat. She was caught in a dilemma.
Qin Xiao's gaze bypassed the arrogant criminal and was fixed on the "hostage."
The woman was crying, but her tears only welled up in her eyes and didn't actually fall. Her muscles were tense, not from fear, but from a state of readiness to exert force at any moment.
Most importantly, the knot on her wrist was a slipknot.
"Officer Shen," Qin Xiao suddenly whispered in Shen Xingling's ear.
"What are you doing?" Shen Xingling stared intently at the person opposite her.
"Let me negotiate a price for you," Qin Xiao's voice carried a strange, magical quality.
What's the price?
"You just kissed me, which counts as paying a deposit. Now, I'll help you resolve this problem, and you can pay the remaining interest... how about that?"
Shen Xingling was almost laughing in anger. What kind of time is this to be saying this?!
"The hostages are fake." Qin Xiao stated his judgment directly before she could react.
"What?"
"It was a trap. They wanted to lure us there, and then..."
Before Qin Xiao could finish speaking, an accident occurred!
Perhaps the pressure of the negotiations was too great, or perhaps Qin Xiao and Shen Xingling's whispers made them feel uneasy.
A criminal standing to the side suddenly lost control and pulled the trigger!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The piercing gunshot instantly shattered the deathly silence!
Bullets rained down on the pillar where the two were hiding, sending cement debris flying everywhere!
In the very first tenth of a second after the gunshot rang out, Qin Xiao reacted instinctively without any hesitation.
He suddenly turned around, opened his arms, and pressed the still shocked Shen Xingling to the ground, covering her completely with his back!
"boom!"
Shen Xingling was tackled to the cold, rough ground by him. The deafening sound of gunshots filled her ears, and once again, the unique scent of that man filled her nose, making her feel flustered and uneasy.
