"Shu Rou!" Qin Xiao's knuckles turned white as he gripped his phone, the anger in his chest almost overwhelming his reason. This crazy woman, it really was her, and her methods were becoming more and more unscrupulous each time.
He abruptly hung up the phone, the roar of the engine tearing through the silence of the night, and the car shot off like an arrow.
Navigation? No need. He could guess Shu Rou's taste with his eyes closed. The villa with the best view, and also the most secluded one, in Jiangcheng's hillside villa district, undoubtedly belongs to her.
The night view outside the car window rushed past, but Qin Xiao's mind was unusually clear. In the original owner's memories, Shu Rou's controlling nature was almost ingrained in her bones, and now it seemed that it had only intensified. Since she dared to touch his family, it was definitely not as simple as just inviting them as "guests."
Soon, a pure white villa came into view at the edge of the horizon. The design was minimalist, with cold, hard lines, and under the cold moonlight, it resembled a huge, emotionless tombstone.
Qin Xiao kicked open the slightly ajar villa door, the heavy door slamming against the wall with a dull thud. The scene inside the living room made his eyes turn icy cold.
In contrast to the coldness of the exterior, the living room is brightly lit, even cozy. Each piece of expensive custom-made furniture reflects the owner's discerning taste.
Shu Rou casually leaned against the sofa, wearing a silk, light pink nightgown with a loose neckline that revealed a small patch of fair skin. She held a delicate macaron in her hand and was slowly feeding it to Qin Ruoyan.
Qin Ruoyan's face was covered in crumbs from the snacks, and her mouth was stuffed full like a greedy little hamster. She was happily chewing, and when she saw Qin Xiao come in, she even mumbled a complaint: "Brother, you made such a big noise when you came in, you scared me."
They showed absolutely no sense of being prisoners.
Qin Xiao's gaze swept over his sister and landed on his parents on the other side of the single sofa. Qin Zhengming's face was ashen, his lips tightly pressed together. Su Wan's eyes were red-rimmed. When she saw him, her lips moved a few times, but she didn't say anything. She just silently shook her head, her eyes full of pleading and despair.
Long Aobing and Mo Meigui stood on either side of the living room entrance, their posture still wary, but a hint of unease flickered between their brows. Clearly, they too felt uneasy in this woman's territory. Several burly men in black suits stood at a distance, like background figures, silently asserting their dominance.
"Brother!" Qin Ruoyan finally swallowed the pastry in her mouth, jumped off the sofa, put her hands on her hips, her face flushed red, and glared angrily at Qin Xiao, "So you still know to come! You were so fierce on the phone! I thought you didn't want us anymore!"
Qin Xiao's temple throbbed. Was this girl really stupid or just pretending? He suppressed the anger surging in his heart and tried to keep his voice steady: "Ruoyan, stop making trouble and come home with me."
"I'm not going back!" Qin Ruoyan abruptly shook off his outstretched hand, her eyes instantly reddening, her voice trembling with tears. "Go back to which home? Our home is gone! Mom and Dad said the company went bankrupt! We have nothing left! It was Sister Shu who kindly took us in, gave us good food, and gave us such a big house to live in! You come here and try to kick us out, what are you up to!"
Bankruptcy?
These two words struck Qin Xiao's heart like a heavy hammer. He looked sharply at his parents. Qin Xiangjun closed his eyes, nodded heavily, his face ashen with despair. Su Wan had already begun to sob softly.
Qin Xiao's gaze was sharp as a knife, shooting towards Shu Rou, who was watching the show leisurely to the side.
"Even if we go bankrupt, the Qin family will never grovel and beg for mercy!" Qin Xiao's voice hardened as he grabbed Qin Ruoyan's wrist again. "Come with me!"
"No! Let go of me!" Qin Ruoyan was hurt by his grip and became angry. She struggled violently, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Sister Shu is so good to us, how dare you say such things to her! You've been mean to me since you arrived, you don't care about us at all!"
"Oh dear, Qin Baobao, why are you so angry?" Shu Rou finally stood up gracefully, her bare feet stepping onto the soft cashmere carpet, and silently walked between Qin Xiao and Qin Ruoyan. Her light pink silk nightgown swayed gently with her movements, the belt at her waist loosely tied, revealing glimpses of her exquisite curves.
She reached out and gently placed her hand on Qin Ruoyan's shoulder, her voice so soft it could melt water: "Ruoyan, be good, don't cry. Your brother was just too worried about you, that's why he spoke a little too quickly, don't blame him."
Qin Ruoyan leaned against Shu Rou, sobbing, and glared at Qin Xiao with a wronged expression.
Shu Rou then raised her head, her captivating peach blossom eyes staring intently at Qin Xiao, her gaze filled with undisguised, almost greedy, infatuation: "Qin Baobao, look, you've scared your little sister. Can we... talk alone?"
Qin Xiao's eyes were so cold they could freeze.
Shu Rou didn't seem to care at all; instead, her smile grew even sweeter. She turned to Qin Ruoyan and said softly, "Ruoyan, why don't you go to the guest room with your parents to rest, have some fruit, and watch TV? Your brother and I have some adult things to discuss."
Then, she winked at Long Aobing and Mo Meigui, her tone slightly teasing: "My two beautiful ladies, you've worked hard too. There are plenty of rooms in this villa, feel free to choose one to rest, or... you can also take a look at my collection."
Long Aobing and Mo Meigui exchanged a glance, their eyes darkening slightly, but they did not make a move immediately.
Qin Xiao spoke, his voice devoid of any warmth: "Dad, Mom, Ruoyan, you should go and rest first. Don't worry, I'll take you away soon."
Qin Zhengming opened his mouth, as if to say something, but in the end he only sighed heavily and patted Su Wan's shoulder. Qin Ruoyan was still sobbing softly, and Su Wan half-supported and half-carried her as they left the living room, led by a maid, turning back every few steps.
