Time seemed to freeze for three seconds.
Qin Xiao could feel the amazing softness and warmth coming from his fingertips, as well as the incredible roundness and elasticity of his palm, which he could clearly feel even through the fabric of his combat pants.
"Host, according to database comparison, Officer Shen Xingling's physical data places her in the top 1% among normal human women. Her experience with that contact just now was rated as..."
"Shut up," Qin Xiao shouted at Yun Yiyi in his mind.
The noise at the crime scene vanished in an instant, and dozens of eyes converged like searchlights, focusing intently on the two entangled individuals.
Shen Xingling's body, from the soles of her feet to the tips of her hair, every muscle was taut.
She slowly, inch by inch, lowered her head to look at the man who had buried his face in her chest and whose hands were still on her private parts.
A terrifying aura, powerful enough to make the Siberian cold front retreat, rose from her body.
"Your...hand."
Her voice was squeezed out from between her teeth, each word sharp and icy.
Qin Xiao's movements were slow. He slowly raised his head, and the hands that had been pressing on her buttocks loosened, but he didn't take them away immediately. Instead, he glided along her firm curves, almost imperceptibly, before withdrawing them.
This subtle movement made Shen Xingling's body tremble violently, and a strange current surged from her tailbone to her brain.
Qin Xiao finally stood up straight and met her gaze.
His face showed no sign of panic or apology, only a seriousness akin to an academic discussion.
“Officer Shen,” he said, his voice not loud, but clearly reaching Shen Xingling and the officers around him who were listening intently, “I think we need to correct a misconception.”
Shen Xingling's brain froze for a moment because of this inexplicable remark: "What?"
"Just now, it wasn't my hand that touched your butt." Qin Xiao's expression was extremely sincere.
Everyone was stunned. Was he really going to deny it? Dozens of eyes were watching!
Just as Shen Xingling's anger was about to escalate into a fatal kick, Qin Xiao's next words drifted lightly into her ears.
"It's your butt that's tempting my hand."
"..."
"It was so upturned, so round, completely ergonomic, yet it was as perfect as a work of art. My hand, simply following the most primal yearning for beauty, made an involuntary... pilgrimage."
The whole place was dead silent.
The jaws of all the officers nearly dropped to the floor.
What kind of insolent and lewd words are these?
Is this something you could say to an enraged policewoman?!
Shen Xingling's pretty face, flushed with anger, did not fade at this moment. Instead, the redness spread even faster to her ears and even her neck.
The hundred plans she had prepared in her mind for subduing the thugs were instantly turned into a mess by that one sentence.
Hit him? That seems... a bit strange.
Insult him? How? Insult him for having poor taste?
In her twenty-four years of life, this was the first time she had encountered such an unpredictable rogue, a scoundrel who could make being a rogue sound so elegant and self-righteous... a complete jerk!
"You... what nonsense are you spouting!" For the first time, Shen Xingling's voice lost its usual strength and was instead filled with a hint of embarrassment and panic that she herself was unaware of.
At this incredibly strange moment, a magnetic and authoritative male voice broke in.
"Xingling, what happened?"
A tall, handsome man wearing the same combat uniform, but with distinctly different epaulets, walked over. His name was Li Wei, the deputy captain of the city's major crime unit, and also a well-known suitor of Shen Xingling.
Li Wei's gaze first fell on Shen Xingling with concern, then turned to Qin Xiao, his eyes immediately becoming sharp and scrutinizing, filled with undisguised rejection and contempt.
"Who are you? Who let you into the police cordon?" Li Wei's tone was full of questioning from a superior. "This is a serious crime scene. What are you, an ordinary citizen, doing wandering around here?"
He was too far away to see exactly what happened, but he did see that Shen Xingling was standing very close to a strange man, and the atmosphere seemed off.
Before Qin Xiao could speak, Shen Xingling, as if she had found a lifeline, immediately regained her police officer's composure and said to Li Wei, "Captain Li, I called him here to assist us in analyzing the case."
"Assist in the case?" Li Wei looked at Qin Xiao as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world. He looked Qin Xiao up and down as if he were a swindler who overestimated himself. "Him? Xingling, aren't you being a bit too hasty? We have so many elites in our Major Crimes Unit. Do we need an outsider to give us pointers?"
His words drew disapproving glances from the surrounding police officers.
Shen Xingling felt a little embarrassed. She couldn't very well say that she had called the person over because the team leader recommended him.
"That's enough," Qin Xiao suddenly spoke, interrupting Li Wei's performance.
He ignored Li Wei and instead turned his gaze to a pool of blood and scattered bullet casings on the ground not far away.
"Vice Captain Li, is it?" Qin Xiao's tone was calm. "Before you question my abilities, why don't you explain why you came to the initial conclusion of 'double-crossing'?"
Li Wei frowned: "There are more than a dozen bodies at the scene, belonging to two different gangs. There are obvious signs of a gunfight. What else could this be but a double-cross? Do you think an outsider like you can just dismiss it with your imagination?"
"Of course it's not based on imagination." Qin Xiao's lips curled into a smile. He walked over, squatted down, but didn't touch any evidence; he simply pointed with his finger.
