"Factory manager?" Gu Siqing stared blankly at Qin Xiao, her tear-streaked face filled with astonishment. He wanted her to be the factory manager? Although she had fantasized about fighting alongside Qin Xiao, she had never imagined it would be in this way.
Looking at her adorable expression, Qin Xiao couldn't help but reach out and gently pinch her nose, laughing, "What? You don't want to? I've heard that Miss Gu majored in New Energy Materials and Devices Engineering abroad, a perfect match for her major, no kidding."
Gu Siqing then realized that Qin Xiao had even found out about her university major. Her cheeks flushed slightly, the previous suicidal resolve vanishing, replaced by a hint of shyness and a hidden excitement: "I...of course I'm willing! But, what factory? We're now..."
"Don't worry, it's not that mess from Qin's Real Estate." Qin Xiao interrupted her, his eyes gleaming with confidence. "I'm going to start a brand new company, specializing in the field of new energy batteries. I've even thought of a name: 'Ning's Era.' What do you say, Director Gu? Are you confident enough to create an era that belongs to us together?"
“Ning’s era…” Gu Siqing murmured the name, her eyes gradually brightening. New energy, batteries—this was precisely her field of study, and the direction she had always been passionate about. Qin Xiao not only hadn’t given up, but was instead determined to expand into new territory, and he had invited her to join him.
"Yes!" Gu Siqing nodded firmly, her tone resolute. "As long as you say it, I have confidence!"
Gu Zhenghong listened from the side, his feelings complex. He looked at the renewed life on his daughter's face, then at Qin Xiao's confident demeanor. His anger subsided considerably, replaced by a kind of expectation he couldn't quite explain. This Qin Xiao seemed truly different from before. Perhaps, he really could create a miracle?
Just then, Qin Xiao's phone rang abruptly. He glanced at the caller ID—"Bai Na".
Qin Xiao raised an eyebrow slightly. The name was somewhat unfamiliar, but the contact information indicated it belonged to Feng Lingyi. He walked aside to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Waaah... Is this President Qin?" A timid, tearful female voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding quite young. "I... I'm Bai Na... President Feng asked me to contact you..."
"Hmm, is there something you need?" Qin Xiao asked calmly.
"I...I have a...a really big bug in my room! It's black and it can fly! It scared me to death! Mr. Qin, could you...could you come over for a moment? I'm so scared...waaaah..." The woman's voice became more and more aggrieved as she spoke, and in the end she actually cried, sobbing and choking, which made people's scalp tingle.
Qin Xiao frowned. He was to catch insects? The dignified chairman of the Qin Group… the future “Ning Era”, was he to do this?
"Doesn't the hotel offer room service? Or you could call security." Qin Xiao said impatiently.
"Waaah... I... I don't dare... I'm too embarrassed to call them... I'm socially awkward... Waaah... President Qin, please, President Feng said you're the best person and will definitely help me... The bug is still flying... I can't take it anymore..." Bai Na cried even harder.
Qin Xiao's temples throbbed. Socially anxious? So socially anxious that he wouldn't even dare call a hotel waiter, yet he dared to call him, the "President Qin" he'd only heard of but never met, to catch bugs? What kind of bizarre thought process was that?
Hearing the almost suffocating sobs on the other end of the phone, Qin Xiao sighed, ultimately unable to bear it any longer: "Address."
"Great, great! I'm at the Hilton Hotel, room 1808! Oh... Thank you, Mr. Qin, you're such a kind person!" Bai Na's voice finally carried a hint of joy.
After hanging up the phone, Qin Xiao smiled apologetically at Gu Siqing and Gu Zhenghong: "Uncle Gu, Siqing, I have some urgent business to attend to. It's about the company's articles of association and preliminary plans. I'll send them to you later."
Although Gu Siqing was curious, seeing that Qin Xiao's expression was normal, she obediently nodded: "Okay, you go ahead and get busy."
...
The entrance to room 1808 at the Hilton Hotel.
Qin Xiao knocked on the door.
The door clicked open a crack, and a small head timidly peeked out. When it saw Qin Xiao, its big, watery eyes lit up instantly. Then the door was suddenly pulled open, and a petite, soft body, accompanied by a fragrant breeze, rushed into his arms.
"Waaah! Mr. Qin, you've finally arrived! I was so scared!" The girl hugged Qin Xiao tightly around the waist, buried her head in his chest, and said in a muffled voice, filled with relief at surviving a close call.
Qin Xiao was taken aback by this sudden embrace. He looked down at the small head in his arms that only reached his chest, and at the soft, long black hair, and felt a little helpless. This girl wasn't tall, but she was quite bold; it was just that her social anxiety manifested in a rather peculiar way.
"Alright, alright, where's the bug?" Qin Xiao gently patted her back.
The girl reluctantly lifted her head from his embrace, revealing a small, delicate face with snow-white skin and large, round eyes, like some kind of harmless little animal. At that moment, tears still clung to her face, and the tip of her nose was red, making her look utterly pitiful.
“It’s inside…it tried to bite me just now…” Bai Na pointed into the room, her voice still trembling.
"Why didn't you call a hotel waiter?" Qin Xiao repeated the question he had asked on the phone earlier.
Bai Na lowered her head, nervously twisting the hem of her clothes, her voice barely audible: "I...I'm embarrassed...I have social anxiety..."
Qin Xiao was utterly speechless. He took a deep breath and stepped into the room.
Upon entering, Qin Xiao was stunned by the sight inside the room. This didn't resemble a girl's room at all; it was practically a two-dimensional themed exhibition hall! The walls were covered with all sorts of anime posters, from classic action manga to currently popular cute anime, you name it. The desk, the bedside table, and even the windowsill were densely packed with all kinds of figurines and models, including many limited editions and rare items.
