Youyou and her teammates never expected that in the short time it took to pick a few flowers, the whole world would suddenly change, completely upside down. It was truly like the world had turned upside down; the once relatively flat ground collapsed completely, and cracks appeared in the enclosed sky, letting in large patches of sunlight that illuminated the previously dim space.
Well, now they don't need to look for an exit anymore, there are exits everywhere overhead.
Even worse, as the crack opened up above, a torrent of rocks came crashing down, leaving them no time to dodge and threatening to bury them all.
"Go back to the pool!" Lin Feng immediately ordered, shouting a reminder.
Only then did everyone turn around and run back, finally reaching the edge of the pool before the entire passage completely collapsed. This was a celestial pool, with an exit above it, but it was impossible to climb up. With the recent shaking, the opening above had become even larger, now reflecting a blinding crimson light.
"What...what is that?!" A teammate looked up in surprise.
When everyone looked up, they discovered a huge red symbol shining in the sky. The bright red runes on the symbol were moving wildly, as if something was slowly being dispelled.
Before anyone could see what it was, another earthquake struck. Unlike the previous sinkhole, the ground bulged up as if something was about to burst forth.
The ground rose too quickly, and everyone lost their footing, on the verge of collapsing into a heap.
"Go to the middle!" Lin Feng pointed to the platform in the middle of the pool, which was the only relatively stable spot on the ground.
Everyone reacted quickly and gathered in that direction. Youyou even picked up two wounded soldiers and strode over there.
Almost the instant they left, the thing from underground finally burst forth. It was a huge tentacle, which looked like it was wrapped around a vine, but its center was fiery red lava. With a casual flick, it tore a crack in the ground with a loud bang.
"What...what is this thing?" Even those who had hunted many monsters were stunned. They had never heard of any monster that looked like this.
Moreover, there was more than one such tentacle. The next moment, with a few splashing sounds, one after another, huge tentacles burst out of the ground around the pool, almost surrounding the entire pool.
"There's something under the pool!" Lin Feng's face paled as he realized why only the middle of the pool was unharmed—because the thing itself was underneath the pool.
Moreover, this thing was completely different from any monster they knew. Just its mere presence around them was enough to make them feel the scorching heat, almost like it was baking them alive. Unfortunately, it was too late to leave. Not only were the other areas already filled with its enormous tentacles, leaving them nowhere to retreat, but they also had no way to escape it.
The tentacles lashed out more and more wildly, and even the bottom of the pool began to tremble. With each swing of the dozens of tentacles, a large patch of flame was slashed down, and in no time, a sea of fire ignited all around. The crowd surrounded Youyou, feeling a sense of despair. They couldn't even find a way to resist. If this continued, either the thing beneath their feet would burst out, or they would be burned to death by the surrounding fire.
When Xun Rong arrived, this was the predicament he found himself in, with a huge tentacle hurtling down towards the center, about to strike the people below.
He felt a sudden tightness in his heart and activated his spell, simultaneously casting hand seals. A golden protective array instantly formed, enveloping everyone inside. The next moment, the tentacle slammed heavily onto the protective shield with a thud, causing Xun Rong to stagger back several steps.
"Xun Rong!" You You was shocked. Not only him, but everyone was surprised that he would actually come back.
While maintaining the protective array, Xun Rong turned around and glared fiercely at everyone, "What exactly did you do?"
"No...no!" Everyone was stunned for a moment.
"How could you possibly release the guardian beast without a reason!" The guardian beast is the last line of defense for the ruins; it could never be awakened unless a restriction was triggered. "What exactly did you do? It's not too late to put it back now!"
Everyone looked at each other, they hadn't moved! But Youyou seemed to remember something, "Flowers... do they count?" She stretched out her hand, and saw a few withered leaves still remaining in her palm, which were the ones Liu Qing had just picked.
Xun Rong's eyes widened immediately, and he said even more irritably, "Is this a flower? This is a restriction! Why did you touch it?" He clearly pointed out the way, couldn't you just follow it?
"Sorry, we don't know."
"Why do you always make up nonsense! You were like that just now... and you're still doing it now!"
"No, these are two different things. Besides... can you please not bring up your pants?"
"Shut up! Who...who told you about this? Don't say it!"
"Didn't you bring it up first?"
"Shut up!"
"..." Okay, you saved people, so you're in the right!

The sea of fire outside burned even more fiercely. The type of fire was unknown, but the surrounding rocks appeared to be melting under its spread. Xun Rong's protective array also began to sway in the flames, seemingly unable to hold out much longer.
Suddenly, Youyou felt a faint whooshing sound behind her. Her heart sank, and she instinctively turned around. She saw a huge tentacle suddenly emerge from the ground, bypass Xun Rong's protection, and slam down towards her teammates behind her. It was so fast that it seemed to ignite the air itself.
