Chapter 278 The Trapped Soul Beast

Youyou took two steps forward and, sure enough, a continuous stream of yin energy seeped up from under the bed, and the bed frame seemed to be sinking slightly. She subconsciously reached out to try and sense it more closely.

"Wait!" Feng Rong suddenly reached out and pulled her hand back, saying nervously, "You'd better not touch it carelessly anymore. What if you get sucked in again?"

Youyou paused for a moment, then remembered being transported to the Demon Realm by an array last time, and subconsciously explained, "There's no array here."

"You still have to be careful!" Feng Rong gripped her even tighter, as if afraid she might disappear at the slightest provocation.

"It's better to be cautious!" Yuan Qi nodded, looking lingering fear.

"..." Okay, people with criminal records have no right to speak.

Yuan Qi, however, immediately formed a hand seal, summoning a wind blade that slashed towards the bed. With a deafening boom, the wooden bed frame shattered into pieces. In an instant, as if a pot lid had been lifted, a torrent of yin energy erupted, instantly chilling the entire room several degrees. A bone-chilling cold filled the room, carrying not only a chilling atmosphere but also a hint of violence.

Is this... resentment?

"Look!" Feng Rong exclaimed, pointing to the area beneath the shattered bed frame.

Suddenly, a pitch-black hole appeared, unlike an ordinary dug hole, but rather as if it had been created by a sudden tear in space. The eerie energy that had just emerged came from within. The hole was pitch black inside, and its destination was unclear.

"It seems this is why the soul beasts have gone missing," Feng Rong said in a deep voice.

"Let's go in and take a look." Whatever's inside, we have to go in and see for ourselves.

Yuan Qi stepped forward, took out a talisman and affixed it to You You, reminding her, "Be careful! The yin energy inside is too heavy. Remember to use your spiritual energy to protect yourself."

"Okay, you guys be careful too!" You You nodded, then took Feng Rong's hand and jumped into the cave.

The next moment, she felt a chill run through her body, and her entire body began to fall. Surprisingly, everything was quiet; there wasn't even the sound of the wind as she fell. Where there had been a faint moonlight, now there was only darkness.

The group descended for about fifteen minutes when Feng Rong, who was holding her, suddenly spoke, "We've arrived!"

After saying that, he casually reached out and grabbed You You, who was standing next to him, and waved his hand in a spell. She felt her descent slow down, and her feet slowly touched solid ground.

The surroundings had turned into a deep black, and Feng Rong summoned a ball of flame with a wave of her hand, which finally lit up the area. Even so, apart from the few inches around the three of them, there was still a dense blackness in front of them, and all around them was the yin energy that was so thick that it seemed to solidify.

"It's too dark here!" Feng Rong frowned, changed the hand seals again, and summoned more than a dozen balls of flame. With a wave of her hand, the flames immediately rose into the air and flew out in all directions, illuminating the entire space in an instant.

When they finally saw the scene clearly, they were all taken aback.

This place was an enormous underground space, the size of a large city, several times larger than Fengcheng above. The entire space was filled with yin energy, which gathered into rivers that floated within the space before sinking into the ground. The yin energy originated from the ceiling of the space, as if connected by some kind of pipe, and was drawn down in countless strands.

The three then realized that these thin threads were connected to the ghosts in the city, and their yin energy had been drawn here. No wonder they hadn't felt any yin energy on them during the day.

However, what ghosts produce is not just yin energy, but also resentment! The longer a ghost exists, the deeper its resentment becomes, eventually causing it to lose its mind and become a vengeful ghost that only knows how to kill.

"Huh, the resentment of the ghost has been separated!" Just as he thought of this, Yuan Qi pointed to the sky and said.

The two looked up in the direction he pointed, and sure enough, the yin energy drawn here from the city did not fall directly down. Instead, it first gathered in the air and then split into two streams, heading in different directions.

The larger of the two was pure Yin energy, which fell directly into the ground, while the other was very small and barely noticeable, yet it carried an unsettlingly violent aura, gradually merging into the stone wall, its destination unknown.

"The resentment here can actually separate automatically?!" Feng Rong was shocked. Usually, although magic could purify, it would purify the resentment and yin energy together. This was the first time she had seen it that could separate the two.

Yuan Qi frowned, looked up at the yin energy that had gathered in the middle, and said, "Don't you think this yin energy in the middle is a bit too big?" Even though the separation speed was not slow, why did he feel that the yin energy in the middle was getting bigger and bigger?

Youyou was taken aback. Upon closer inspection of the yin energy mass, it was indeed ridiculously large, occupying almost a quarter of the space. Moreover, the yin energy flowed faster closer to the center and would surge from time to time.

Wait! It moves!

"There's something in that yin energy!" You You said, pointing to the mass of yin energy.

Feng Rong reacted immediately and summoned a wall of fire to cover the cloud of Yin energy in the air. The Yin energy was instantly forced back upon encountering his Phoenix True Fire, revealing a giant beast over three meters tall, entirely black, curled up in a ball, which then fell downwards.

“A Soul Beast!” You You recognized it.

Yuan Qi made a hand seal, summoning a gentle breeze to catch the falling beast. The three of them hurried over. Father Yuan made several hand seals in succession, and only then did the soul beast lying on the ground stir. It slowly opened its eyes, stared blankly for a moment, as if only then recognizing who was in front of it, and immediately let out a pitiful howl.

"Soul Beast, how are you?" Youyou casually patted its big head.

"Awoo~~~~" The soul beast's voice became even lower.

"What's wrong? Can't you turn back into human form?"

“Woo~~~” It shook its head.

"What exactly happened? How did you get trapped here?" Feng Rong couldn't help but interject.

The soul beast shook its head, as if trying to stay awake, moved its paws, and pointed to the right.

The group looked over there and saw only a large expanse of yin energy, beyond which lay a stone wall.

"You mean... there's something else behind that?" Youyou guessed.

The soul beast nodded.

"I'll give it a try!" Yuan Qi formed another hand seal, channeling his divine power, and slammed his palm towards the stone wall, intending to shatter it. Suddenly, a white flash streaked across the stone wall, forcefully deflecting his force. Caught off guard, Yuan Qi was even forced back a step.

"How could this be?" He was stunned. This stone wall could actually deflect his divine power?

"I'll do it!" Feng Rong also stood up, mobilizing her divine power to strike the stone wall, and it looked like she was about to shatter it.

Suddenly, his expression changed, and he abruptly withdrew his power, opening his eyes wide with surprise as he looked at the stone wall.

"What's wrong?" Youyou asked.

“I…” Feng Rong looked at the stone wall and then back at the two of them before saying, “I sensed from this… a divine power of the same origin!”

Youyou: "..."

Yuan Qi: "..."
