Chapter 292 The Legendary Mystic Spirit

Youyou felt that although the Phoenix Clan had not suffered any mishaps this time, they still needed to be on high alert. Long Ting had been scheming for so many years just to break that seal, so it was impossible that he hadn't made any other preparations.

She even suspected that the events surrounding Qiu Yue and Ming Ye, the demon from the Seventh Heaven, were all orchestrated by Long Ting. After all, Ming Ye's attitude towards Feng Rong from the beginning was strange, his words seemingly treating him as someone of the same ilk. This inevitably led one to suspect that he already knew the Feng clan would succumb to demonic possession, which was why he acted this way.

Just in case, Youyou had all the Phoenix Clan members thoroughly examine their bodies, first self-checking and then checking each other to see if there was anything abnormal. After all, Long Ting was able to put the Demon Seed into the eggs of the Phoenix King and Queen, and also issue the false clan order to Feng Rong; who knew if he might have left anything on other Phoenix Clan members?

Only after confirming that there was nothing related to the demon race on any of the phoenixes did Youyou feel a little relieved, but another question arose.

The words Long Ting uttered before his wisp of spirit vanished always inexplicably bothered her. It wasn't the content of his harsh words, but rather the name he mentioned.

"Xuanling, who exactly is she?" At first, she thought it was the name of the Phoenix King or Phoenix Queen, but after asking around, she learned that although the Phoenix Clan members all chose their own names, they always used Phoenix as their surname, without exception.

“I’ve asked everyone in the clan, and no one has ever heard of the name Xuanling,” Feng Rong said in a deep voice.

“These past few days, I’ve also asked Ling Qi to inquire with various sects, but no one has heard of it.” Yuan Qi shook his head and said, “As for the Immortal Realm, there has been no response yet, but they probably don’t know anything about the person Long Ting mentioned.”

Youyou was even more confused. Someone whom Long Ting hated so much shouldn't be an unknown person. "Doesn't anyone know who this Xuanling is?"

"I know!" A sinister voice suddenly rang in my ears.

Youyou was startled and took a step back. When he saw who it was, a vein popped out on his forehead. He took a deep breath to suppress the urge to punch someone. "Hey bro, I know you're from the underworld, but next time you show up, can you at least knock on the door first?"

"Huh? Didn't His Majesty send a soul beast to tell me that there was something important to discuss? That's why I came in a bit of a hurry." The Underworld Envoy tilted his still stiff, but eerily pale head.

Youyou's lips twitched. "I notified the soul beast three months ago! Is it too late for you to call me now?"

"Has it been that long?" The Underworld Messenger blinked blankly, and then, as if he had thought of something, he suddenly turned around, walked to the door, raised his hand, and knocked twice. He asked in a sinister voice, "Your Excellency, are you there?" He then gave her a look that seemed to ask if he had followed the correct procedure.

Youyou: "..."

Feng Rong: "..."

Yuan Qi: "..."

How polite! No wonder they're from the underworld!

Youyou took a deep breath, suppressing her inner turmoil, before continuing, "Envoy of the Underworld, do you know who Xuanling is?"

“I know!” The Underworld Messenger nodded, twitching the corners of his mouth as if trying to force a smile. “The more souls he attracts, the more he naturally knows.”

"Who exactly is Xuanling?" You You asked.

The Underworld Envoy glanced at Feng Rong and Yuan Qi, paused, and then continued, "Shouldn't you two, as gods, know this person better than I do?"

"What do you mean?" You You was stunned, and Feng Rong and Yuan Qi also looked bewildered.

The Underworld Messenger continued, "Because it was she who cleansed the divine realm back then, the gods should naturally know this better!"

"Purge the divine realm!" You You exclaimed in surprise, instantly understanding. "You mean Xuan Ling is a saint! The one who sealed the demon realm!"

“Hmm.” The Underworld Messenger nodded. “That’s what the Six Realms call her, I think.”

The three exchanged shocked glances. No wonder Long Ting hated the other party so much, even before his divine consciousness disappeared, he didn't forget to utter harsh words of threat.

"Is the Sage... still alive?" Youyou asked instinctively.

The Underworld Envoy gave a stiff smile and said, "Humans only live for a hundred years, so they are naturally no longer in this world."

"A hundred years?!" You You exclaimed in surprise, looking at the Underworld Envoy. "Aren't saints cultivators? Why is it only a hundred years?"

“No.” The Underworld Envoy shook his head and said seriously, “She is human, a real human.”

The three of them: "..."

What the heck?!

That means the other party has never cultivated at all, and is just an ordinary mortal. So how did she manage to destroy the entire god race all by herself?

"Envoy of the Underworld, do you know what the Dragon Clan did back then that led to the cataclysmic destruction?" You You continued to ask. She always felt that the whole series of events involving the gods and saints began with the cataclysmic destruction.

“Well, I don’t know…” The Underworld Envoy shook his head and continued, “Although I cultivated before the Great Calamity, I had not yet formally attained enlightenment back then. The matter of the world’s destruction was handled personally by my lord, the King of the Underworld, so I don’t know what happened.”

He finished speaking calmly, then suddenly seemed to remember something, his voice turning cool but inexplicably carrying a hint of excitement as he said, "Perhaps, Your Majesty could ask my lord yourself; he will surely tell you."

"..." You You glanced at him, thinking, "I think you're setting a trap!"

"Although my lord has been out exploring the world for a long time and his whereabouts are unknown, with Your Majesty's abilities, I believe you will surely be able to find him." The Underworld Envoy seemed increasingly convinced of the feasibility of this plan, and continued coolly, "My lord controls the Book of Life and Death, and he knows everything about the world. When Your Majesty wants to ask, you will know the answer. Your Majesty, why don't you set off to find my lord now, the sooner the better. The Underworld is currently quite peaceful, and my lord won't be tired if he returns to take charge. It's definitely not because I want a vacation!"

"..." You just want a vacation, don't you! You said it yourself!

Youyou's lips twitched. Every time she met the Underworld Envoy, she felt even more that the Underworld was doomed!

"No need, thank you!" Too lazy to continue the nonsense, she simply shoved the three items she had summoned at him with a thought, "Take these things, no need to see me off!"

"Huh?" The Underworld Messenger instinctively took the thing she handed him, then looked down and froze. "This... three volumes of the Underworld Book?!"

"Hmm." You You nodded, then got to the point. "Didn't you say that the Book of the Underworld originally belonged to the Underworld? We needed it to awaken the Phoenix Clan before, and now that the Phoenix Clan has awakened, it should naturally be returned to its rightful owner." She had wanted to return the book to the Underworld Envoy as soon as the Phoenix Clan woke up, but she didn't expect him to take three months to come and collect it.

The Underworld Messenger glanced at what he was holding, then at You You, seemingly surprised. After a moment, as if he had figured something out, he smiled and said, "As expected of His Majesty..."

His eyes darted around, and after a moment, he seemed to have thought of something. "Your Majesty, I am merely a messenger of the underworld and cannot control the Book of the Dead. How about this, you personally hand them over to my lord..."

"Get lost! Don't even think about tricking me into working for you."

"..."
