Chapter Ten: The Nemesis Comes to the Rescue

"A mere fourth-tier water beast has driven you to this sorry state?" The man laughed even more arrogantly, his whole body radiating pleasure. "I think you should just switch careers and go back to farming. With this kind of ability, you dare to call yourselves the best in the border town! Tch!"

"Yin Fan!" Lin Feng recognized the person instantly. Ignoring the other party's taunts, he got up and shouted a warning, "Don't be careless! Fourth-tier demonic beasts are not easy to deal with!"

"Hmph! It's easy to deal with a third-rate team like yours, but it's a different story for us!" Yin Fan had finally found a weakness in Lin Feng, so he wasn't going to let the opportunity slip by. He threw several disdainful glances at Lin Feng. "Just you wait and see who's the number one team in Biancheng!"

After saying that, he waved to his teammates behind him with satisfaction and shouted, "Form the formation!"

As soon as they finished speaking, the people standing on the tree jumped down and landed around the water beast in an encircling formation. Each of them took out a stick-shaped magical artifact and stuck it into the ground.

Yin Fan took out a yellow magic talisman and activated it directly. In an instant, the array of light shone brightly, and the rod-shaped magic weapon emitted rays of light that connected with each other to form a light prison, trapping the water demon in the middle.

Lin Feng was stunned, looking at the formation in front of him in disbelief. "You actually have a demon-trapping formation?"

Yin Fan gave him a provocative look and said smugly, "We are the genuine number one beast hunting team in the border town, so naturally we have to be fully prepared, unlike you guys. Move aside! Stay put and watch how we hunt monsters."

After saying that, he struck out with a palm, mobilizing his internal energy to stabilize the formation.

The water-bound beast within the formation seemed to sense the danger and began attacking the surrounding light prisons. Its body emitted white light again, transforming into countless spikes that attacked indiscriminately in all directions. However, the spikes were blocked by the light prisons that bound it, and they all fell down with a series of clanging sounds.

Seeing the formation becoming increasingly stable, Yin Fan accelerated the input of his inner force. However, the opponent was, after all, a fourth-tier demonic beast. Despite several consecutive attacks, it failed to pierce the light prison, and some of its spikes even fell back and injured itself. It immediately became even more frenzied, roared, stopped producing spikes, and instead swung its massive body and desperately rammed into the light prison.

The originally stable formation suddenly shook, and the square light prison was even distorted for a moment by the impact. Yin Fan's face turned pale. The pressure of the backlash made his blood surge. He desperately suppressed it and did not let go immediately. The other teammates who formed the formation also changed their expressions. It was obvious that they were struggling to maintain it.

"The Demon-Trapping Array can only trap third-tier demonic beasts." Lin Feng could see that they were barely holding on and anxiously reminded them, "Without spiritual power to sustain it, this array won't last long if you only use internal force. Use spirit stones! With spiritual energy forming the array, you can quickly stabilize it?"

Yin Fan's face twisted for a moment, then he turned and glared at him, saying, "Spirit stones my ass! If I had spirit stones, would I still be hustling in the border town!" He knew perfectly well that formations were activated by spiritual power, and ordinary people should ideally use spirit stones to form formations, as they were more than ten times stronger than internal energy. But spirit stones were incredibly rare. If their team had any, would they have needed to risk their lives in the border town?

Lin Feng also realized what was happening, his expression becoming even more serious. Seeing the Water Beast's attacks growing increasingly fierce, he knew that if the formation couldn't be stabilized, it would eventually break free. He quickly walked over, channeling all his inner strength into the formation along with Yin Fan, saying, "I'll help you stabilize the formation."

"Tch!" Yin Fan turned around and glared at him, his face full of resentment, but he knew this was not the time to fight, so he could only snort disdainfully and reply, "Don't think that the credit for helping out belongs to you. This monster still belongs to our team."

Seemingly used to the other party's arrogant attitude, Lin Feng ignored him and focused on channeling his inner energy, as if he didn't care about the ownership of the demon beast at all.

At this moment, the other teammates also realized what was happening and went over to help channel their inner energy into the magic circle.

"I'll help too!"

"My internal energy is included too!"

"Me too!"

"We absolutely cannot let this monster come out again. I'm coming too."

"..."

In no time at all, everyone who could move from both teams surrounded the formation, helping to trap the water beast. Except... for a somewhat bewildered Youyou.

Speaking of which... what exactly is internal energy?

( ̄△ ̄;)

With Lin Feng joining the team, Yin Fan felt much more relaxed, but his expression grew increasingly grim, showing his extreme displeasure. He had come with the intention of mocking and beating Lin Feng, and seizing the title of the opposing team's top squad, but it had turned into a collaboration between the two teams—what kind of nonsense was this?

Unfortunately, they couldn't subdue the monster on their own, and could only try to gain some advantage verbally. "With your meager internal energy, what help can you be? Maintaining the formation isn't something you can just give away." After saying that, he glanced at the people around him with a look of disdain, but didn't forcefully stop them. While nitpicking, he instructed, "Go and stand in your positions at the respective formation points, and then transfer your internal energy. Don't destroy our formation."

"The short one, go to the position three steps to the right. You! Go to the right of me, and the one covered in mud... go help on the left." Without hesitation, he began directing his teammates, instructing each one to stand in their designated spot. He didn't forget to continue mocking those around him, "Lin the Madman, your third-rate team is getting smaller and smaller. They're practically useless. You might as well give up the first position now and see who truly is the best in Border Town!"

"..." Lin Feng still didn't reply. After all, he had just been saved by him, and he didn't care if Lin Feng gained a little advantage in words. He only wanted to subdue the Lin Shui Beast as soon as possible.

Yin Fan felt like he'd punched cotton; his mockery had been pointless, and he was getting increasingly frustrated. His gaze swept over an injured teammate, and he grumbled irritably, "Hey, you injured guy, you can't even walk straight, what are you doing causing trouble? Do you think I need your little bit of internal energy? Come on, come on, someone help me get him away, so he doesn't affect the formation's effectiveness!"

The injured player froze on the spot, momentarily at a loss for what to do.

The only bystander, You You, reacted quickly and immediately volunteered to go over and say, "I'll help you up!"

"At least there's someone who knows what's good for them. Hurry up and help them up!" Yin Fan was finally satisfied, but he didn't stop talking. He turned his head and said, "Only a third-rate team like yours would use even their wounded. Our guys are..."

He paused, completely frozen in place, as if only now seeing Youyou's face clearly. His remaining words, like a duck being strangled, came out in a series of garbled sounds, "But...but...k...kkkk..."

"...khjqx?"

Youyou couldn't help but make a witty remark and blurted out a string of Chinese pinyin.
