Chapter Twenty-Eight: Monsters Fight Monsters

Lin Feng and his group hadn't gone far, only a few hundred meters, when they spotted two demonic beasts. The two beasts were about three meters tall, with bodies resembling oxen. They had no horns on their heads, but their backs were covered with a row of barbs that looked like sharp teeth. Their four hooves were ablaze, creating a wildfire wherever they stepped. Their heads resembled leopards, with two long fangs protruding from their mouths, and they were emitting low growls.

Both demonic beasts were bound by the red light of the formation and were struggling desperately. Directly in front of the beasts stood a dozen people, with a middle-aged man and woman surrounded by them, desperately maintaining the formation. Everyone appeared to be injured, their expressions pained. On the ground nearby lay countless people, some too badly injured to stand, others already lifeless.

However, the formation maintained by internal energy was clearly unable to trap fifth-tier demonic beasts, let alone two of them, and the formation was on the verge of collapse.

"Father! Mother!" Lin Feng's eyes were bloodshot as he rushed over without a care in the world.

"Feng'er!" The woman in the middle recognized the newcomer at a glance, and the others were also shocked. "How could you..."

"Mother, I'll explain later. I'll stabilize the formation; you all need to leave quickly." With that, she took the places of the two in the formation and poured her spiritual power into it. The next moment, the nearly collapsing formation solidified again, suppressing the charging monsters back into the air.

The two were startled and knew this was not the time to ask questions, so they quickly led everyone back. The teammates who had followed also stepped forward and took the injured Lin family members to safety.

Lin Feng was a cultivator, and with the aid of spiritual energy, the array's power was naturally ten times greater. However, these were, after all, two fifth-tier demonic beasts equivalent to the late Foundation Establishment stage. Although he had the advantage of the array, he couldn't hold out for long; it was only a matter of time before the demonic beasts broke free.

Youyou naturally noticed Lin Feng's reluctance. After thinking for a moment, she reached out and patted the bag on her back, waking up the guy who had been withdrawn the whole way. "Hey, little monster, wake up!"

"You're the little monster! Your whole family are little monsters!" A strange beast resembling a bald, puppy-like creature poked its head out of the bag, bared its teeth, and looked both irritable and cowardly. "I told you I have a name! My name is Fenze!"

"Alright, Fenze, get out there and get to work!" Youyou changed her form of address in a good-natured manner.

"What?" Fenze put his two paws on the bag opening, looking unwilling.

Youyou pointed to the fifth-tier demonic beasts trapped in the formation, "You should be able to defeat those two demonic beasts, right?"

"Tch! Just a fifth-tier nobody! Who do you think you are?" Fenze said with a look of disdain.

"Then go and help solve this!" Little monster fighting little monster, no problem!

"No!" It refused without hesitation, spitting out a "Pah!" and saying, "You treat me like this, and you expect me to help you? Dream on!" With that, it turned around and tried to crawl back into the bag.

You You's lips twitched, her patience exhausted. She clenched her fist and said, "Either you deal with them, or I'll deal with you. You choose!"

Fenze shuddered, his body reflexively shedding fur. His beastly face contorted a few times, and he gritted his teeth with great determination, saying, "Hmph! I'll go then!" With that, he darted out of the bag and pounced towards the fifth-tier demon beast.

Youyou: "..."

Pshaw, what backbone!

╮(╯﹏╰)╭

The Fenze, originally the size of a small dog, visibly began to grow wildly, surpassing the size of the two demonic beasts in the blink of an eye. Unlike its previous lion form with its snow-white fur, the Fenze was now covered in vine-like skin, seemingly able to switch freely between two forms. With a roar, it instantly silenced the two demonic beasts. The vines on its body lashed out like whips, causing the two demonic beasts to howl in pain, completely powerless to fight back—a blatant display of overwhelming strength.

Thus, the crisis of destroying the city was instantly reversed. In no time, the two ferocious fifth-order demonic beasts were bound like dumplings and lay on the ground unable to move.

Even so, they remained extremely frenzied, desperately roaring and struggling, as if they had fallen into some kind of madness, with only the thought of attacking remaining. Even the natural level suppression of demonic beasts over high-level spirit beasts could not stop them.

After binding the demonic beasts, Fenze, seemingly finding them too noisy, casually knocked them unconscious, and the heart-wrenching roars finally stopped.

"All done!" Fenze immediately shrunk back to the size of a puppy, leaped towards Youyou with lightning speed, pulled open the bag behind her and crawled inside, even tying the bag tightly to cover himself up as if afraid that his baldness would be exposed.

"Your Excellency." Lin Feng also broke free from the formation and came over. Fen Ze acted in time, so his breathing was very stable and he did not consume too much energy.

Youyou glanced at the wounded scattered on the ground and stopped him from expressing his gratitude. "Saving lives is the priority. Let's get the wounded back first."

Lin Feng realized what was happening and nodded, saying, "The Lin residence is just ahead!"

They then helped the injured people up and left the area.

——————

The Lin family suffered heavy casualties. In an effort to hold off the fifth-tier demonic beast, the Lin family mobilized almost its entire force, yet more than half of them perished. Even Lin Feng's parents sustained injuries of varying degrees, and his two younger brothers, who were protecting their parents, remain unconscious and their fates are unknown.

Lin Feng then began to feel fear, and a chill ran through him. If they had entered the city a moment later, his Lin family might have been wiped out.

"Feng'er, I never expected you to come back!" Lin's mother excitedly pulled Lin Feng over and looked him up and down. "Where have you been all these years? How did you... become a cultivator?"
