Outside the window, the rain pattered and the wind howled, stirring the curtains in the room and casting two hazy, enchanting shadows on the window.
"Mmm... Sister..."
A low, trembling, suppressed voice echoed softly at the end of the third floor.
In the dimly lit room, Xiao Wujie knelt on Chu Liyue with his legs apart. His pale face was flushed with an unusual redness, and the veins on his forehead were bulging and covered with fine beads of sweat.
His hands were bound by a black tie, his bloodshot eyes were filled with tears, and his gaze trembled as he looked at Chu Liyue, who was sitting on the headboard of the bed, looking at him expressionlessly.
Chu Liyue looked at him with an indifferent gaze and spoke softly:
"Do you know you were wrong?"
"Um...I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong..."
Xiao Wujie hurriedly spoke, his voice trembling, his chest heaving as he exhaled hot breath.
"Where did we go wrong?"
"I shouldn't have disobeyed orders and kept working without resting, and I shouldn't have been so concerned about looking good that I didn't wear a coat..."
Time rewinds to that emotional embrace amidst the wind and rain.
Chu Liyue let Xiao Wujie hold her for a long time before gently patting his back and softly coaxing him:
"Sweetie, it's cold outside. Let's go inside first, and you can hold me however you like."
"Really? You're not kidding me?"
"Really, when has your sister ever lied to you?"
Chu Liyue gently stroked his soft, smooth hair with her fingers and chuckled helplessly.
"When my sister went to the far north, she told me she'd be back in two weeks, but..."
Despite saying that, Xiao Wujie obediently let go of her.
Chu Liyue's eye twitched slightly upon hearing this; this was something he couldn't let go of...
Lifting the corner of his white coat with her fingers, Chu Liyue reached out and put her arm around his shoulder, wrapping him up and carefully leading him into the main house.
She's been incredibly busy these past few days and hasn't had much time to spend with him. Luckily, this afternoon wasn't too busy, and with the rain, she wasn't planning on going back to the lab. She decided to spend the rest of the time with him and comfort him.
Perhaps sensing that she wasn't too busy, Xiao Wujie became unusually clingy, hugging her tightly as soon as he entered the room.
Chu Liyue helplessly pulled his hand away, gently kissed the corner of his mouth twice, and coaxed him affectionately:
"Sweetie, at least let me take off my lab coat, change my clothes, and sit on the sofa for a while, and I'll let you hug me right away."
Chu Liyue kept her word. After changing her clothes, she sat down elegantly on the sofa and opened her arms to Xiao Wujie with a light smile.
Upon seeing this, Xiao Wujie immediately bit his lower lip, snuggled into her arms, wrapped his arms tightly around her slender waist, and rubbed his head against her body.
Chu Liyue embraced him with a smile in her eyes, her hand gently stroking his head and his charming back.
"Mmm..."
Under her gentle caresses, Xiao Wujie hummed comfortably, snuggling even closer into her arms. Gone was his usual aloofness and cunning; he clung to her affectionately, like a male concubine seeking favor.
His slightly cool, thin lips unconsciously moved closer to her red lips, his tongue deftly probing out to lightly lick and tease. Chu Liyue indulgently parted her red lips slightly, allowing him to fully savor the sweetness in her mouth.
Only when his breath was completely drained did the two part their lips, leaving a long silver line at the corner of their mouths.
Xiao Wujie seemed a little tired. After the deep kiss, his eyelashes trembled slightly, and his voice was tinged with a soft weariness.
Seeing his drowsiness, Chu Liyue laid him flat on the sofa, letting his head rest comfortably on her lap. She gently stroked his eyelids with her fingers, her voice soft and charming.
"Go to sleep if you're sleepy, your sister will stay with you."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Wujie gently nuzzled her leg with his head, snuggled closer to her, and murmured in a daze as his eyelashes fluttered.
"Hmm...you're trying to comfort me..."
Chu Liyue held his head in her arms, gently tracing his eyebrows and eyes with her kisses, her voice low and alluring.
"Mmm, sweetie, good baby, sleep well."
With her gentle coaxing, Xiao Wujie quickly relaxed and fell into a deep sleep.
Chu Liyue did nothing, just gently stroked his cheek with her fingers, quietly watching his sleeping face, and silently keeping him company.
For her, being able to watch him sleep peacefully in her arms without reservation was a unique kind of happiness.
However, this happiness did not last long before it was shattered, because she noticed that Xiao Wujie's face was becoming unusually flushed, and his breathing was heavy and hot, clearly showing signs of a fever.
She tried to get up to get the temperature gun, but as soon as she moved, Xiao Wujie in her arms frowned and squirmed restlessly, looking like he was about to wake up.
She had no choice but to ask Lu Zhufeng to bring her a thermometer and fever reducer. It was from Lu Zhufeng that she learned he hadn't rested for most of the day and had been standing by the window in the cool breeze. Not long ago, he had hugged her in the rain. With his constitution, it would be strange if he didn't get sick.
She was suddenly filled with anger. Every time he promised her that he would rest and eat on time, he would forget everything he said as soon as he was out of her sight because of other things.
Those things were important, but in her eyes, they were worthless compared to his body.
There are always times when she's not by his side, how can he put her at ease like this?
She felt guilty for not spending enough time with him lately because she had been too busy, and for indulging him too much. There were some things she really needed to teach him a lesson.
Because she discovered it in time and took immediate measures, Xiao Wujie's fever quickly subsided.
But she didn't dare to relax for a moment, afraid that he might catch a fever again if she wasn't careful. When she saw that it was almost time, she woke him up, gave him dinner early, and then accompanied him back to his room.
