Chapter 116 A Chaotic Rainy Night, Ghosts Unleashed

The night was endless, and dark clouds covered the sky.

Blinding flashes of lightning occasionally streaked across the sky, tearing the darkness into fragments of light.

Amidst the wind and rain, the gale, like a sigh from the depths of the underworld, swept across every inch of land with an ominous premonition.

Thunder roared like a giant beast in the clouds, shaking the windows and making them creak. The wind blew the curtains, and in the dark room, the flashing lightning illuminated several eerie and terrifying shadows.

"Are you kidding me? That guy is a real wolf."

A deep voice, filled with undisguised shock and anger, echoed in the room.

"There's nothing we can do. He knows too much. Now that he's facing death, he's bound to turn on us. If we don't take action soon, we'll all probably be going to die with him."

A low, hoarse voice, tinged with a hint of helplessness, rang out at just the right moment.

"Why don't you find a way to get rid of him?"

"If he were that easy to take down, things would be much better!"

After a moment of silence, another cold voice rang out.

"Let's figure out a way to get him out first. He'll just be a rat that can't stand the light of day, and then..."

In the flashing lightning, a pale, narrow hand with prominent veins gently traced a line across the neck.

Raindrops pounded violently against the glass window, like countless invisible fingers rapidly knocking on the door in the night, sending a chill down one's spine.

The trees swayed in the gale, their branches twisting and dancing like ghostly shadows, casting eerie black shadows.

In the darkness, a deep sigh finally echoed.

"This is the only way..."

...

On a stormy night, the wind and rain raged, shrouding everything in chaos.

The ancient and somber guardhouse appeared even more isolated and helpless in the wind and rain, the barbed wire swaying and gleaming with a cold light.

A few dim lights flickered in the wind and rain, occasionally casting a few dark rays through the iron bars, adding a touch of eeriness to the boundless night.

Inside, the air was heavy and damp, mixed with the smell of rust and mildew, making one feel oppressed.

The cell was dimly lit, the walls were mottled and uneven, and rainwater seeped in through the cracks, the dripping sound particularly clear in the quiet night.

A blurry figure, holding a baton, moved slowly through the narrow corridor, the echoes filling the air, each footstep sounding particularly heavy.

He suddenly stopped in front of a certain prison cell, his gaze falling on the figure who sat with his head down, leaning against the wall, looking utterly lifeless.

His eyes flickered slightly, and he silently crouched down, slipping his hand through the gap in the gate and pressing it to the ground.

"There will be a power outage here tonight..."

"Even the person guarding the door can't get away..."

The hoarse whispers drifted into the ears of the lifeless figure on the eerie wind of the corridor.

As soon as he finished speaking, he finally raised his head slightly and glanced at the hand that was pressed to the ground.

Noticing his gaze, the hand gently lifted, revealing a thin metal sheet lying on the ground, gleaming with a chilling luster in the lightning.

He then rose gently and disappeared at the end of the corridor in a few breaths.

Only the figure squatting against the wall in the cell remained, his dark and cold gaze fixed on the metal plate on the ground.

...

Rainwater flowed down the mottled wall, eroded by time, carrying away some of the peeling plaster and leaving behind winding watermarks.

In a dark corner, a small iron door on the wall opened silently.

A figure, soaking wet and exuding an eerie aura, emerged from within. The wind and rain blurred his silhouette, making him appear like a ghost wandering in the rainy night.

He walked slowly forward in the rain, and after walking for an unknown amount of time, a bright light suddenly shone on him.

In the vast wilderness, a black car with its glaring high beams flashed and suddenly appeared beside him.

Two people quickly got out of the car, holding umbrellas, and walked up to him.

"Mr. Chu, we've been instructed to arrange your accommodations. Please get in the car with us."

A slightly hurried sound rang out amidst the chaotic sound of rain.

How many people are still on the bus?

The figure, like a demon emerging from deep water, asked in a low, slow voice.

"There is also a driver."

"Let him come down too."

"Why...?"

The hurried voice was tinged with doubt.

"I need your help first. Two people aren't enough, so hurry up."

His voice was cold and deep, carrying the unquestionable authority of a superior.

"Um... okay."

Once the three had stopped, one of them quickly spoke up:

"Mr. Chu, is there anything we can do for you?"

"You all need to stay away from me. I can drive away myself..."

His voice remained cold and deep, but the words he spoke carried an unfathomable eeriness.

"Mr. Chu, our orders are to bring you to the designated location at all times."

"This puts us in a difficult position..."

After a brief moment of stunned silence, the three quickly offered a few words of advice.

All they received in response were a pair of cold, emotionless eyes.

"Mr. Chu, please don't make things difficult for us. We are just following orders."

"Please get on the bus with us quickly, so as not to be noticed and have our operation exposed..."

Before they could finish speaking, a flash of silver light streaked across the sky, silencing them instantly.

A few splashes of red blood rose up, their eyes widened, and they instinctively covered their necks, their eyes filled with disbelief.

A moment later, it fell to the ground with a thud, splashing water everywhere.

Rainwater washed over their bleeding necks, instantly staining their clothes red.

"Detected? Exposed?"

"You have the guts to do it, but not the guts to let people know?"

"I'd rather people know..."

A sinister sneer echoed through the rainy night, like the whispers of a demon from hell, sending chills down one's spine.

With a deafening roar, a bolt of lightning ripped through the sky, illuminating a sinister and chilling face.

A moment later, the roar of a car engine filled the air, and the black car quickly disappeared into the night...

"Knock knock," a rapid knocking sounded on the door in the rainy night.

Lying on her side in bed, with Xiao Wujie in her arms, Chu Liyue suddenly opened her cold eyes and looked towards the door.

Hearing the commotion, Xiao Wujie shifted uncomfortably, his eyelashes trembling as he snuggled into Chu Liyue's arms, his brows furrowed as he murmured softly:

"Sister, I'm sleepy..."

"It's okay, I'm here."

She gently stroked his head with her fingers, then lightly kissed his earlobe twice. Chu Liyue lifted him up halfway, pulled the blanket up for him, and then looked towards the door, coldly saying, "Come in."

The tightly closed door was pushed open, and Lu Zhufeng, dressed in disheveled pajamas and wearing slippers, strode in.

His hair was disheveled, clearly indicating he had just crawled out of bed, and his face showed a rare hint of panic.

He took a few deep breaths to calm himself, then looked at Chu Liyue with slightly flustered eyes and spoke with difficulty:

"Oh no! Chu Feihong has escaped from prison!"
