In the old Chu family mansion, sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a shadow on Chu Mingcheng's cold and stern face.
"It's all your fault. You've been playing dead all these years, which has allowed Chu Feihong to take advantage of you. Now that he's escaped, he's desperate. It would be strange if he didn't take revenge on Li Yue and Wu Jie."
"If either of my darlings causes even the slightest trouble, I'll never forgive you!"
Sitting next to him, Bai Jingxuan frowned, her well-maintained, taut skin filled with anger as she gritted her teeth and spoke to him.
Upon seeing her like this, Chu Mingcheng was immediately at his wits' end. He quickly moved closer to her and put his arm around her waist, managing to force a not-so-stiff smile onto his usually cold and stern face.
"Honey, you know I didn't want to either!"
"But in his younger days, the old man was confused. I wanted to protect him, but he kept it well hidden. I was powerless to do so. In order to protect the family's wealth and develop in secret, I could only hide my abilities!"
Upon hearing his words, Bai Jingxuan became even more angry and slammed her slender hand against the sofa wall.
"Family business! Family business! All you think about is the family business! For the sake of the family business, Nanfeng entered the entertainment industry, and you haven't given him a kind look all these years."
"I won't even mention Nanfeng; at least he enjoyed a few years of being a young master."
"I didn't even get to hug Li Yue's mother a few times before you and the old man kidnapped her. She's been all alone and helpless outside for so many years. As she spoke, her eyes reddened slightly. The thought of Chu Liyue's suffering over the years and her distant and aloof demeanor towards them made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Chu Ming sighed inwardly at her astonishingly fast change of expression, then shook his head and smiled bitterly.
"Chu Mingcheng, I'm not joking with you. I've had enough of playing the loser for you for so many years."
"If you don't get rid of that beast Chu Feihong this time, and if the children suffer any more grievances, you can forget about ever sleeping in my bed again."
Bai Jingxuan's smile vanished, her sharp gaze meeting his eyes directly, her words carrying an undeniable resolve.
"Honey, you know I never lie, especially to you."
"Don't be angry. I promise I'll keep my word and won't take this lightly."
"Don't say things that prevent us from being intimate, it makes me... uncomfortable."
Chu Mingcheng put one arm around her waist and held her hand with the other, repeatedly assuring her.
Bai Jingxuan's expression softened considerably upon hearing this. She shifted onto his lap to a more comfortable position and suddenly spoke again:
"You're more efficient. Next month is Wu Jie's 18th birthday, and Li Yue takes it very seriously. Don't let that piece of shit Chu Fei Hong spoil their mood."
"By the way, I have something to tell you. Li Yue plans to officially announce to the public on Wu Jie's birthday that Wu Jie is her future partner and the son-in-law of the Chu family!"
"Don't forget to inform the old man and make preparations in advance!"
Hearing the first half of the sentence, Chu Mingcheng nodded repeatedly, but when he heard the second half, he froze on the spot.
When did this happen? How come he didn't know anything about it?
It's not that I have a problem with Xiao Wujie, but shouldn't I discuss this kind of thing with my biological father first?

After a long while, looking at Bai Jingxuan, who was leaning against him and panting, Chu Mingcheng's eyes darkened even more. He scooped her up and carried her into the inner room...
