The dimly lit room was illuminated only by a flickering oil lamp, its faint light casting distorted shadows on the walls.
The walls were covered with strange symbols and ancient tapestries, embroidered with incomprehensible patterns. The air was thick with the stale smell of spices mixed with the scent of special paper, making it almost suffocating.
In the corner, a worn-out tarot deck and a crystal ball with a faint glow were scattered on an old wooden table.
Beside the table, a slender figure stood with his back to the only window, his face obscured by darkness, only his deep eyes gleaming with an unusual light in the dimness.
Suddenly, with a creak, the door opened, and a gust of cold wind blew in from somewhere, causing the oil lamp flame to flicker and almost go out.
The heavy footsteps echoed in the empty, dimly lit room, sending chills down one's spine.
A tall figure, hidden in the darkness, stood before the table, silently staring at the slender figure.
"You said I could ask you to do my divination three times unconditionally. I've already used one, so I have two left."
His cold gaze flickered slightly, and a deep, sinister voice rang out.
"Hehe, what do you want to have divined?"
The magnetic female voice is like a mysterious echo from the depths of an ancient forest; every word uttered from her mouth seems to touch the most sensitive strings of one's soul.
"Two people."
After a brief silence, the chilling voice rang out again.
"Two people? You can only have your fortune told once!"
"Then let's use both chances."
"Have you thought it through? If you have, you can name your first person to ask for divination. You have a chance to back out before naming your second person."
Seemingly sensing his hesitation, the magnetic voice spoke with great understanding.
"The first person to be divined—Hua Xia Chu Liyue."
As the chilling voice fell, mist swirled and light flowed within the eerie crystal ball on the table, and then a stunningly beautiful face, so beautiful it seemed to illuminate the dim room, appeared.
In the darkness, a long, pale hand reached out, its well-defined fingers slowly picking up a tarot card, the movement gentle yet carrying an undeniable sense of ritual.
As fingers gently brushed across the patterns on the cards, a soft rustling sound, like a whisper, echoed in the quiet room.
A faint murmur lingered in the wind, mysterious and eerie.
As each card was turned over, the images depicted on it became exceptionally vivid, as if they were about to leap off the page.
There seemed to be an invisible force surging in the air, making it feel not a trace of warmth, but only endless cold and oppression.
As time goes by, the patterns formed by the tarot cards become more and more complex, seemingly foreshadowing something unpredictable.
After a long while, the long, pale hand retracted into the darkness, and the deep eyes stared at the complex and strange patterns, the gaze flickering slightly.
"I'm sorry to tell you, but she is a person blessed by God, and the trajectory of her destiny is beyond my comprehension."
His magnetic voice, tinged with a hint of solemnity and helplessness, echoed through the room with a special magic.
"Is she really that different from everyone else?"
"God is never fair. God gave you superhuman wisdom, so you can stand out from the crowd. But she was born God's favorite, and no one can know anything about her."
The tall figure fell silent upon hearing this, a chilling aura spreading through the room, his cold eyes flashing slightly.
"The second person, the previous person's fiancé, is named Xiao Wujie."
As he finished speaking, his long, pale hand once again covered the calendrical cards on the table. With a flick of his fingers, the image inside the crystal ball changed again, and a handsome, pale face appeared.
This time, however, the tarot cards were flipped and arranged unusually slowly, and in the darkness, that deep gaze was filled with astonishment and doubt.
The next second, the images inside the crystal ball suddenly surged, and fine cracks suddenly appeared on the surface of the crystal ball.
Immediately afterwards, with a loud crash, the crystal ball shattered, and fine fragments fell onto the table and floor with a sharp sound.
A deep shock appeared in his profound gaze as he stared blankly at the scene, unable to recover for a long time.
After a long while, his voice lost its previous magnetism and became unbelievably hoarse.
"He... is someone outside of destiny..."
Are you kidding me?
The tall figure's fingers clenched silently, and his cold voice was tinged with anger.
He knew the other person's skill level all too well; so many people had sought her out, and he'd never heard of her making a mistake. Why was it that today, when it came to him, not a single person could provide a satisfactory result?
"You are not in a position to make me lie. I can only say that the two people you chose for divination are really too special."
After a slight pause, the voice regained its original magnetism, and it spoke softly again:
"How about this, I'll give you some compensation, and I'll help you once you need it."
Seeing that the tall figure was about to say something, the slender figure hidden in the darkness waved his hand impatiently.
"Alright, you can go now. I need to tidy up here."
His cold gaze swept over the shattered crystal ball fragments, and the tall figure ultimately said nothing more before turning and leaving.
Shortly after he left, another figure suddenly emerged from the darkness and stood in front of the table.
"Hehe, I'm telling you, someone will ask you the question you wanted to ask today, do you believe me now?"
"That person's days are probably numbered..."
A deep voice sounded, seemingly asking a question, but with a tone of certainty.
"Hehe, you're so much smarter than him..."
After a moment of silence, the deep voice rang out again.
"He asked, but you still couldn't give him an answer..."
Another silence fell. "What does 'a person outside of one's destiny' mean?"
In the darkness, her deep, thoughtful eyes narrowed sharply. After a long pause, she spoke in a hoarse voice:
"The divination results show that he... is not a person of this world."
"His life ended six months ago. He... should have been a dead man whose life ended six months ago..."
Her words were like a spell; as soon as she finished speaking, the temperature in the entire room seemed to drop significantly, sending chills down one's spine.
"How...is this possible...?"
"Perhaps... there's something wrong with my divination results..."
This is actually even more unlikely, because her divinations have never been wrong.
Are you scared?
The deep voice, carrying a captivating power, resounded through the darkness.
"Hehe, what are you talking about? What do I have to be afraid of?"
"You know best what you've done. She's the chosen one. She's never stopped investigating all these years, and the day you're exposed isn't far off. I've experienced that person's supernatural abilities; they're no less than yours..."
"If you weren't afraid, you wouldn't have been willing to help that person just now..."
As soon as he finished speaking, a terrifying atmosphere spread throughout the room, darkness surged, and even the last glimmer of light was swallowed up...
