In the luxurious villa complex, a tall figure silently walked onto the rooftop and stood facing the wind.
His phone rang, and after glancing at the screen, he casually pressed the answer button and silently held the phone to his ear.
"Shen Yuan, don't you have anything to say to me?"
After a moment of silence, a magnetic voice came from the other end of the phone.
The voice was devoid of joy or sorrow, making it impossible to discern any emotion in it.
His long, slender fingers lightly rested on the rooftop railing, his dark eyes appearing even more profound in the darkness. After a moment of silence, Shen Yuan spoke in a low voice:
“Vito Rosso is arrogant and incompetent and does not pose an absolute threat to them.”
“You said he was destined to die, so I don’t need to act according to his naive ideas.”
A cold snort suddenly came from the other end of the phone, the magnetic voice tinged with a hint of indifference.
"You acted rashly and killed someone again?"
"Your rash action has caused suffering to everyone in the capital of China, and you have aroused public anger."
His cold, dark eyes gazed at the inky night sky, his gaze indifferent, and his deep, cold voice was devoid of any warmth.
"On the chessboard, everyone is a piece; if you must discard them, then discard them. What is there to regret?"
He paused slightly, a cold smile curving his lips.
"You are the true player, and even I am just one of your many pieces. Why would you care about those other people?"
The cold, ruthless words carried a hint of sarcasm, causing the magnetic voice to drop in temperature, becoming covered in frost.
"You should know that doing this will only hasten your own exposure, and may even implicate me."
With a slight twitch at the corner of his eye, Shen Yuan suddenly let out a sneer, the sarcasm in it even more pronounced.
"How much longer do you think you can hide?"
"Are you delusional, thinking you can outlast him until he dies of his illness and then reap the benefits?"
"You underestimate her too much and don't understand her at all. Even if your delusions come true, you can't escape her."
"You've already made your move; how can you expect to remain uninvolved?"
After he finished speaking, all he heard was a deathly silence.
A slight smile suddenly appeared at the corner of his lips. His eyes, reflecting the dark night sky, were unfathomable. His deep, cold voice seemed to carry the echo of destiny, profound and powerful, yet ethereal and elusive.
"Her steps have never stopped for a moment. Stop deceiving yourselves and trying to stay out of it."
“I will be ready to face anything, and you even more so.”
"Ghost-faced Satan!"
...
The roar of the car engine echoed through the neon-lit capital city as Chu Liyue rushed back to the hospital as quickly as possible.
After five days in the intensive care unit, Xiao Wujie's condition finally stabilized, and he showed signs of waking up.
She was transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward.
When Chu Liyue and Lu Zhufeng arrived, the ward was already crowded with people. Yun Mo, Chu Wan, Chu Nanfeng, Leng Ruxue and others were all looking forward to it, but unfortunately they were all blocked at the door by Ye Jinyu with a cold expression.
Seeing Chu Liyue, covered in dust, walking quickly towards him, Ye Jinyu's expression softened somewhat.
Before Chu Liyue could speak, Lu Zhufeng strode forward, grabbed Ye Jinyu's hand and placed it on his heart, his tone respectful and devout.
"Old Ye, he's alright now, right?"
"I knew you could cure him. I admit you're quite capable."
Seeing his beaming smile, and the way he seemed to want to grab his hand and kiss it, Ye Jinyu's face turned green.
She flung his hands away as if avoiding a plague, looked directly at Chu Liyue, and said quickly:
"The person is awake, but not fully conscious yet, and keeps calling your name."
"The situation has basically stabilized; he just needs to rest and recover."
"His emotions might be a little unstable when he first wakes up, so try to comfort him and prevent his emotions from fluctuating too much."
After saying that, he stepped aside to let Chu Liyue in, and then continued to coldly and ruthlessly block the others outside.
As soon as Chu Liyue entered the room, she saw Xiao Wujie lying weakly on the hospital bed, his face as pale as paper.
He must have been in physical pain and discomfort, because he shifted his body slightly and restlessly, causing the IV needle and various medical instruments inserted into his body to sway.
The nurses nearby looked troubled. To prevent the indwelling needle from falling off the medical equipment, they could only gently hold his arms and shoulders.
The unfamiliar atmosphere made him even more uneasy. His eyes became misty and unfocused, and his hoarse and strained voice carried a faint sob as he called out "sister" over and over again.
Those few "sister" calls reached Chu Liyue's ears, causing her heart to clench suddenly. A sharp pain, like being pricked by thousands of needles, instantly spread, choking her throat and eyes with a sour taste.
Quickly rubbing her slightly cool palms together to warm them, Chu Liyue waved away the nurses who looked troubled, then suddenly bent down, wrapped one arm around his neck, and gently stroked his slightly cool and delicate face with the other.
"Don't be afraid, baby, your big sister is here."
"Be good, don't move, your sister is here."
Suppressing the bitterness in her heart and eyes, Chu Liyue tried her best to soften her voice, speaking in a low, hoarse tone to gently coax her.
Seemingly finally sensing the familiar and cherished presence approaching, Xiao Wujie quickly ceased his restless struggles.
But the physical pain and mental confusion kept his brows furrowed, his eyes hazy, and his eyeballs struggling to find a focus.
Another wave of icy, piercing pain washed over him, and he instinctively cried out, "Ugh... Sister, it hurts so much."
His eyes stung so much he could barely open them, and his heart clenched so hard his chest felt tight. Chu Liyue gently rubbed and stroked his face, her soft lips lightly touching his brows and eyes.
