Chapter 244 Conspiracy Unveiled: Cutting Off Xiao Wujie's Path to Survival

A deafening noise came from a beautiful hotel nestled against the mountains and beside the water on the outskirts of the city.

In broad daylight, a large number of assassins dressed in black poured in.

Gunshots rang out, knives clanged, alarms blared, cries for help filled the air—a chaotic scene of cacophony.

In the hotel stairwell, Ye Jinyu, dressed in a suit, was leading an elderly foreign man with gray hair and beard as they ran quickly.

He randomly kicked open a door and slipped inside.

Ye Jinyu quickly went to the window and used her fingers to pry open a crack in the tightly closed curtains. Sure enough, the downstairs area was already surrounded by a large number of assassins.

He drew the curtains tight, then returned to the doorway, leaning his back against it and closely watching the movements outside.

Sweat beaded on his forehead, his chest heaving, and after a few deep breaths, Ye Jinyu looked at the old man beside him and asked about his condition in fluent, authentic English.

The old man's name is Walsh Smith, his doctoral supervisor's senior, and a leading figure in the global medical community.

Lu Zhufeng invited him to consult on Xiao Wujie's case in Chu Liyue's name and his own, but the old man declined because he had other commitments.

Given the elderly man's irreplaceable academic level, Ye Jinyu personally went to his hotel to try again.

Given his friendship with mentor Ye Jinyu and his admiration for Chu Liyue and Ye Jinyu, the old man readily accepted Ye Jinyu's invitation.

The two chatted amiably, and the old man invited Ye Jinyu to stay at the hotel and dine with him. No sooner had they stepped out of the room than the assassin precisely entered.

If the two hadn't happened to be out together, he probably wouldn't have survived to make that SOS call to Chu Liyue.

Smith was over seventy years old, and although he was still physically strong, he was clearly exhausted after such a vigorous run.

Gasping for breath, it took Smith a while to catch his breath before he managed to say with difficulty, "I'm fine."

Hearing the deafening gunshots outside and recalling what had just happened, Smith clearly realized that the group of assassins were actually after him, and a look of bewilderment appeared on his wrinkled face.

"Ye, I don't remember doing anything that would make anyone jealous."

Why are these people targeting me for no reason?

Upon hearing this, Ye Jinyu fell silent for a moment, her eyes darkening.

After something like this happened, what else could he not understand?

This so-called God Symposium is just a smokescreen, designed to attract the world's top scientists.

This would allow them to hunt down and eliminate the group of top biochemical medical scientists who could provide consultations for Xiao Wujie, thus cutting off his path to survival.

After a moment of silence, Ye Jinyu still spoke truthfully:

“Professor Smith, although I cannot fully explain this matter to you in a short time, this disaster was brought upon you by me and my patient.”

“I am deeply sorry for this. I guarantee you with my life that I will do everything in my power to protect your personal safety.”

"Even if you choose to step back and no longer participate in consultations for my patients, we will have no complaints."

After a slight pause, Smith sighed softly:

"In everything, killing is the original sin. The patients are innocent, and life is paramount."

"As long as I can get out of here alive, I will still keep my promise."

With a slight change in expression, but without resorting to sentimentality, Ye Jinyu stated pragmatically:

"Thank you, Professor."

"I have already called my friend for help. She is incredibly capable and I believe she will arrive here soon."

“These people outside are no threat to her.”

Just then, Ye Jinyu raised an eyebrow and her expression suddenly changed as footsteps and doors opened outside.

Ye Jinyu understood that the assassin had found this place. He had deliberately destroyed a lot of surveillance cameras on his way here, which delayed him for a long time, but now it was clear that he could not delay any longer.

His gaze swept across the room's furnishings; it looked like a manager's office. He pulled the gray-haired Smith aside and hid him under the desk, apologizing softly:

"I'm sorry, Professor, I'm sorry to trouble you to hide for a while. Please don't come out unless I call you, no matter what noise I hear later."

After saying that, he pressed his body against the door again, listening to the sound to pinpoint the killer's location, and silently reached for his waist to draw a gun.

Fortunately, being in a foreign land, he always carried a gun with him out of vigilance; otherwise, he would have had no ability to retaliate at all today.

He knew perfectly well that if he waited for the assassins to find him here, he would only face certain death in this confined space where there was little cover.

Taking advantage of the fact that the assassins' forces are currently scattered, we must take the initiative to strike and seize any chance of survival.

With his ear pressed against the door, he judged the assassin's direction and distance, his eyes flashing as he precisely calculated the time in his mind.

When the deadly footsteps were about ten meters away from the door, Ye Jinyu suddenly pulled the doorknob, and the door flew open.

A figure suddenly emerged from behind the door, and the explosive gunshot shattered the silence of the corridor. The bullet burst from the barrel, leaving invisible trails in the air.

In the blink of an eye, several bursts of blood bloomed in the air, and several assassins fell to the ground, their blood splattering everywhere.

The remaining assassins snapped back to reality, their guns exploding with gunfire as a hail of bullets hurtled towards Ye Jinyu.

Ye Jinyu reacted extremely quickly, immediately retreating behind the door and using the sturdy wooden door as cover. Bullets struck the door panel like a storm, making a series of "rat-a-tat-tat" sounds.

Under the cover of gunfire, several assassins suddenly leaped forward, heading straight for Ye Jinyu, who was hiding behind the door.

The next instant, Ye Jinyu acted unpredictably, leaping out of cover and firing several shots, accurately hitting the oncoming assassin.

With lightning speed, he grabbed one of the assassins and used him as a human shield. Amidst the explosion of gunfire, a jet of blood gushed out, and the assassin he was holding as a human shield was riddled with bullets almost instantly.

After firing a shot to force back the assassins at the front, Ye Jinyu leaned close to the door, a serious expression on her face.

His gun was almost out of bullets; the remaining bullets wouldn't even be enough to help him escape, let alone deal with the assassins in the corridor.

He couldn't help but grit his teeth; if reinforcements didn't arrive soon, he really wouldn't be able to hold on.

Suddenly, a sharp sound of shattering glass rang out, and a slender figure leaped into the shimmering shards of glass.

The moment his feet touched the ground, the long sniper rifle in his hand roared like a dragon, and bullets poured out from the muzzle. More than half of the assassins fell to the ground before they could even react.

At the same time, a tall figure and a petite figure followed closely behind, leaping through the broken window.

As Ye Jinyu peeked out the door and saw the group of people who looked like gods descending to earth, she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
