East of the capital, a place of outstanding beauty.
The cabin door slowly opened, and Xiao Wujie, dressed in a black overcoat with a blue and white scarf around his neck, stepped out like a painting rendered in light ink.
His handsome face was as elegant as the bright, cold moon, but a touch of sickly pallor, like thin ice under the moon, added to his fragility and purity.
His eyes, as dark as night, surveyed the world around him, momentarily lost in thought.
This is his second time here.
Of all the places in this vast world, there are two that he cherishes the most.
One place is Liyue Manor, where he and his sister share the most memories.
Another place is this one, Zhongxiu in the east of the capital, where their love began.
Behind her, Chu Liyue, whose features were as beautiful as a painting, bent down and stepped out. Looking at Xiao Wujie's slightly dazed expression, she slightly curved her lips.
Outside the cabin, the cold wind howled. She unbuttoned her coat, wrapped it around Xiao Wujie, and pulled him into her arms.
She had checked the weather forecast beforehand, but the temperature in Jong-soo seemed unusually low.
Without lingering, she helped Xiao Wujie into the car and headed straight for Gu Junci's private residence.
As soon as she got off the car, she saw a large number of people guarding the area. The Gu family had been almost entirely slaughtered, and she was the only one left. There were countless eyes watching her, so she naturally had to be protected.
The old butler, dressed in a suit, was already waiting at the door. As soon as everyone got out of the car, he immediately came to greet them.
He was polite, but lacked enthusiasm, and his eyes held an obvious sadness.
Although this is not the site of the massacre, white ribbons are floating everywhere, and walking through it creates an indescribable eerie atmosphere.
The old butler led them into an elegantly furnished reception room. After more than half a year, Xiao Wujie saw the beautiful, dangerous, and ruthless woman, Gu Junci, again.
She wore a white dress, her face still beautiful, but her cheeks looked haggard, and a faint melancholy covered her originally delicate and jade-like skin.
She looked up at Xiao Wujie and Chu Liyue walking at the front, a forced smile on her face. When her gaze fell on Lin Qingyi behind her, she was slightly surprised.
"In blue?"
Lin Qingyi took two steps forward, her gaze towards Gu Junci slightly complicated. Because she had once saved Gu Junci's life, the two had a fairly good personal relationship.
I never expected that when we met again, their family would suffer such a tragedy.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Xiao Wujie stared intently at Gu Junci and spoke in a low voice:
"Sister Gu is deeply saddened by this misfortune in her family and called me over, hoping there's something she can do for me?"
Instead of offering words of comfort, he got straight to the point, speaking bluntly.
He felt sorry for the innocent victims, but he didn't feel much pity for the woman in front of him.
He had witnessed this woman's cunning and ruthlessness, and the atrocities she committed were equally grave.
He remained somewhat wary of this woman.
Upon hearing this, Gu Junci lowered his eyes slightly and said in a cold voice, "I hope you will help me take revenge."
Xiao Wujie's eyes were indifferent, appearing extremely ruthless. "Where are the chips?"
Gu Junci said in a low voice, "My loved ones have all passed away, and I have nothing left to hold on to. This is my retribution. Afterwards, I will turn myself in to the police station, and I will give you all the remaining power of the Gu family."
With his eyes slightly narrowed, Xiao Wujie's long, bony fingers suddenly tapped lightly on the table, causing Gu Junci to raise his eyes slightly.
"Why does Sister Gu always look at the table? Are you afraid to make eye contact with me?"
Gu Junci glanced at him subtly, then looked down at his feet again, his voice low and muffled:
"No, I'm just in a bad mood and have some difficulty concentrating."
Xiao Wujie leaned back in his chair, withdrew his hand, and intertwined his fingers with Chu Liyue's. His thumb gently caressed her soft, smooth palm, and he said softly:
"make a deal."
"I just need to know the details of the matter."
"This might touch a raw nerve with Sister Gu. I hope Sister Gu can be understanding and help me find the answer."
Gu Junci lowered his eyelashes slightly, his gaze was lowered, and his slender shoulders hunched slightly, revealing a sense of fragility.
He responded in a low voice, "Go ahead and ask."
Xiao Wujie stared intently at her, his voice cool as he asked, "Was Sister Gu present at the time?"
Gu Junci shook his head. "He's not here."
Xiao Wujie: "Where was Sister Gu at that time?"
Gu Junci: "Attending a dinner party outside."
Xiao Wujie relentlessly pressed, "Has the Gu family offended anyone recently? Were there any signs that something was amiss?"
Gu Junci responded in a low voice: "In foreign business dealings, it is inevitable that there will be conflicts of interest with others. Although I may have offended them, it is not enough to retaliate to this extent."
"The incident happened extremely suddenly, without any warning."
After a moment of silence, Xiao Wujie suddenly asked in an extremely cold and ruthless manner, "Sister Gu, are you sure all your family members were killed by assassins?"
As soon as he finished speaking, even Chu Nanfeng, Lin Qingyi, Yun Mo and the others looked at Xiao Wujie with some surprise. The question seemed a bit too cold-hearted.
Gu Junci's slender body trembled slightly upon hearing this. He looked up, his gaze quivering slightly, and after a moment, he spoke in a hoarse voice:
"Once you get home and see for yourself, you'll be certain."
Xiao Wujie calmly withdrew his gaze and nodded slightly. "Okay, I understand."
"I will send someone to investigate the matter that Sister Gu entrusted to me."
After saying that, he was about to get up and leave.
Gu Junci said, "If you don't mind, you can stay here with me. There's a lot of commotion outside right now, and things aren't peaceful."
"I have plenty of rooms here, and the security measures are complete, so it's safer to stay here."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Wujie's eyes flickered slightly. After exchanging a glance with Chu Liyue, he nodded gently.
In the room arranged by Gu Junci, Chu Liyue held a miniature infrared scanner and carefully checked it over.
